A communication unit connects an e-mail data transfer protocol to transfer e-mail data item via near-field wireless communications with an external device. A retrieval unit retrieves the e-mail data item transferred from the external device when the protocol is connected. A storage unit stores the retrieved e-mail data item. A control unit causes the external device to transfer the e-mail data item in each indication unit of the indication device thereby to cause the storage unit to store the retrieved e-mail data item, when the protocol is connected, and even when a user does not implement a browsing operation of an e-mail list. The control unit further causes an indication device to indicate the e-mail list of the stored e-mail data item when the user implements the browsing operation.

Electronic mail data processing device and method for processing electronic mail data

A communication unit connects an e-mail data transfer protocol to transfer e-mail data items with an external device. An e-mail data storage unit stores the e-mail data items transferred from the external device. The control unit does not cause the external device to transfer the e-mail data items when the e-mail data transfer protocol is connected and when a total number of subjects of the e-mail data items and a data content of a latest e-mail data item stored in the external device respectively coincide with a total number of subjects of the e-mail data items and a data content of a latest e-mail data item stored in the e-mail data storage unit, at the time point when the e-mail data transfer protocol is connected between the communication unit and the external device.

An in-vehicle apparatus selects, as a profile connection mode, one connection mode out of a first connection mode and a second connection mode, and performs profile connection using the selected one connection mode. The first connection mode is to transmit a profile connection request signal to a communication partner so as to start a connection procedure; the second connection mode is to wait for reception of a profile connection request signal from the communication partner for a predetermined time so as to start the connection procedure. When the profile connection using the selected one connection mode fails, a connection procedure using the other connection mode that was not selected previously is started. A control circuit of an the in-vehicle apparatus repeatedly performs a Bluetooth connection operation to connect to both of registered cellular phones and registered portable AV players in such a manner that, if an HFP connection has already been established to a cellular phone prior to an AVP connection to a portable AV player, the control circuit performs one round of AVP connection attempts to all of the registered portable AV players according to a priority order, prior to performing connection attempts to connect other data communication type profile to the cellular phone. By using such a profile connection scheme, the AVP connection attempt will not be delayed until after a connection attempt of the other data communication type profile.

When the use flag is set to '1,' the controller stores a copy of the first phonebook data of the portable Bluetooth phone in the storage portion as second phonebook data for an in-vehicle phone. When the in-vehicle phone is selected, as a used phone, the second phonebook data for the in-vehicle phone stored in the storage portion is available.
