A heat cycle system includes a cooling circuit and a Rankine cycle circuit in which an organic medium circulates. The Rankine cycle circuit includes an evaporator, an expander, and a condenser. Before warm-up of an engine, a control device executes a warm-up mode in which the organic medium is circulated through the condenser, the expander and the evaporator in sequence; after the warm-up of the engine, the control device executes a waste heat recovery mode in which the organic medium is circulated through the evaporator, the expander and the condenser in sequence. In the warm-up mode, by supplying energy to the expander, the control device compresses the organic medium passing through the condenser and supplies the compressed organic medium to the evaporator; in the waste heat recovery mode, by depressurizing the organic medium passing through the evaporator by the expander, the control device recovers the energy generated by the expander.

Heat cycle system

Provided is a novel catalyst structure capable of maintaining gas diffusivity to a deep part of a catalyst layer even under condition of a high gas flow rate. Proposed is a catalyst structure, which has a porous apatite catalyst layer containing an oxide (hereinafter referred to as 'apatite') whose crystalline structure belongs to an apatite type, and in which, in logarithmic differentiation void volume distribution measured by a mercury intrusion porosimeter, a peak top is present within a void volume diameter range of 100 nm to 1000 nm.

Catalyst structure for treating exhaust gas

An assembling method for an assembly is provided: the assembly comprising a cell structure () housed and held in a metal vessel () via a compressible material having a cushioning property () by arranging it between outer periphery of the structure () and the vessel () in a compressed state with applying a mounting pressure to the structure () via the material () to hold the structure () in the vessel (). Information regarding outside dimension of the structure () and/or inside dimension of the vessel () being marked on their surfaces prior to the start of assembly, and the information is read, and a cell structure () and a metal vessel () are selected based on read information in assembly to achieve a proper holding condition therebetween. Regardless of variations in external dimension of the structure, etc. constituting the assembly, the minimization thereof, and proper holding state may be achieved easily without causing a fracture of the structure, etc.

Assembling method using marked information and assembly assembled by said assembling method

In an exhaust converter, where a casing is made by fastening and welding a cylindrical metal plate wrapped on an outer periphery of a supporting mat that is wrapped on an outer peripheral surface of a catalyst carrier, recovering means is formed at either or both of the supporting mat and the casing for recovering positional shifts of the supporting mat, thereby preventing positional shifts of the supporting mat in conjunction with fastening work of the metal plate from occurring. Such recovering means can be structured by a recess formed at an end of the casing, plural spaces formed of a crank shaped supporting mat, or a space formed at an overlapped portion at which each end of the casing is overlapped to each other.

Exhaust converter

A carrier supporting mat for exhaust converter for supporting a catalyst carrier is structured in having heat insulating mat members on an inner side as to direct contact with the catalyst carrier, an expansible mat member including a vermiculite on an outer side of the heat insulating mat members, and at least one heat insulating sheet member disposed among the mat members. Heats from exhaust gas is cut off by the heat insulating mat members, and expansion of a metal casing of the exhaust converter due to heats is followed by the expansible mat member. The sheet member creates sliding when the carrier supporting mat is lapped on the catalyst carrier because the mat members and sheet member can move correlatively and smoothly, thereby preventing wrinkles and tears from occurring.

Carrier supporting mat for exhaust converter

A catalytic converter including a cylindrical catalyst carrier having a catalyst carried therein, a retaining mat wound around an outer peripheral surface of the catalyst carrier, and a casing including a cylindrical carrier retaining portion for retaining the catalyst carrier with the retaining mat compressed. The cylindrical carrier retaining portion is an assembly which is constructed of diametrically split halves whose axially extending opposite-side edges are fitted over each other with fitted portions bonded to each other. The cylindrical carrier retaining portion has an oval cross-sectional shape with a longer diameter between both the fitted portions. Thus, the density of the retaining mat in the circumferential direction of the catalyst carrier after being compressed can be varied in an increased manner to compensate for the decreasing variation in urging force provided by the cylindrical carrier retaining portion. Thus, it is possible to decrease the non-uniform degree of the surface pressure applied to the catalyst carrier by the cylindrical carrier retaining portion.
