A tool selection unit has an analysis unit and a selection unit. The analysis unit determines a pick feed direction and the feed direction of a tool on the basis of information relating to the shape of a machining region including a double curved surface or a machining surface in the machining region, and creates parameter information in which at least a value relating to the smallest curvature radius in the machining surface and a value relating to the largest curvature radius in the pick feed direction are recorded. The selection unit selects a tool to use for machining the machining region on the basis of the parameter information, from among a plurality of tools having a bottom cutting edge and a side cutting edge formed in a curved-surface shape having a curvature radius different from a curvature radius of a curved surface of the bottom cutting edge.

A method for generating a numerical control program includes first-fourth steps. In the first step, elements related to the shape of a material are created on the basis of information related to the shape of the material. A printer includes a conveying roller, a print head, a tension applying section and a guide roller. The conveying roller conveys a print medium. The print head conveys an ink ribbon tape, and performs printing on the print medium. The tension applying section is provided at an upstream side of the print head with respect to a conveyance direction of the ink ribbon tape, and allows tension applied to a center region along a width direction of the ink ribbon tape to be higher than tension applied to both end regions of the ink ribbon tape. The guide roller is provided between the print head and the tension applying section at the upstream side of the print head with respect to the conveyance direction of the ink ribbon tape, and applies tensile force to the ink ribbon tape outward along the width direction.

A tape type binding apparatus includes a cutter portion formed in a U-shape inside which a paper staple is held, a paper table formed with a drawing hole through which cutter blades of the cutter portion can be inserted, a pair of pressing members arranged on respective sides of the drawing hole, and a pressing piece arranged below the center of the drawing hole. The cutter blades and leg portions of the paper staple penetrate a stack of sheets placed on the paper table by moving down the cutter portion, the pair of pressing members folds the leg portions of the paper staple to inner sides by moving toward the center of the drawing hole through rectangular holes formed on respective cutter blades, and the pressing piece presses and bonds the folded leg portions by relatively moving up with respect to the paper table.

A cutting machine for cutting a belt-shaped sheet into a given shape includes a sheet feeder, a Y-axis shaft, a carriage, a sub-shaft, two connecting frames, and an elevating device. The sheet feeder moves the belt-shaped sheet in the X-axis direction. The Y-axis shaft is disposed in the Y-axis direction above the cutting sheet. The carriage mounts a cutter on a leading end thereof and is slidably disposed on the Y-axis shaft. An ultrasonic wave is emitted from an ultrasonic wave transducer for transmission to polymeric materials and received by an ultrasonic wave transducer for reception arranged at a predetermined distance away from the transducer for transmission. A propagation time of the ultrasonic wave and the level of the reception wave are measured during the process to heat or cool the polymeric materials. A state of the polymeric materials is discriminated on the basis of a characteristic curve which is determined by the propagation time and the reception wave level of the ultrasonic wave. In the case of measuring an asphalt paved road, when shoulder characteristics appear on the characteristic curve which is determined by the propagation time of the ultrasonic wave and the reception wave level, it is determined that a solid state in which a traffic lane can be opened was obtained.

Method and apparatus for monitoring state of polymeric materials

The present invention relates to a method of and an apparatus for measuring flow velocity by using ultrasonic waves. Sound velocities of wedge portions constituting ultrasonic transducers provided at the upstream and the downstream sides of a piping, respectively, are measured, and the ultrasonic wave is oscillated from the upstream side to the downstream side and from the downstream side to the upstream side, respectively, and propagated in a fluid in the piping and respective times from the oscillating to receiving are measured. These measured values are substituted into a predetermined function and calculated, to thereby search the flow velocity of the fluid in the piping. Each of the ultrasonic transducers is connected thereto with a transmission-reception changeover section, a timer device for measuring a propagation time, during which the ultrasonic wave is propagated in the fluid in the piping and received, and an operational device for processing output data, which is delivered from the timer device in a predetermined manner. An opening length of the ultrasonic transducer in contact with the piping is about 15 wave lengths or more of a center frequency used, whereby the ultrasonic waves become parallel beams, so that an angle of directivity becomes small.
