The invention provides a grease composition for constant velocity joints, which contains (a) a base oil, (b) a diurea thickener, (c) benzotriazole and/or a derivative thereof, and (d) a phosphate and/or an amine salt thereof; and a constant velocity joint where the grease composition is packed.

A constant velocity universal joint has a large-diameter mounting portion fastened and fixed by a first fastening clamp onto a boot receiving portion of an outer joint member, and a small-diameter mounting portion fastened and fixed by a second fastening clamp onto a boot receiving portion of a shaft. A circumferential clamp groove to which the first fastening clamp is fitted is formed in an outer peripheral surface of the large-diameter mounting portion. A protruding portion is formed at a boot outer side end portion of an inner peripheral surface of the large-diameter mounting portion. A recessed portion to which the protruding portion is fitted is formed in the boot receiving portion being a cylindrical surface of the outer joint member. A projection is formed in the vicinity of a boot inner side of the recessed portion.

Constant velocity universal joint

A constant velocity universal joint includes an outer joint member having an opening portion at one end thereof, and an inner joint member configured to transmit torque while allowing angular displacement with respect to the outer joint member through balls. End portions of a boot closing the opening portion of the outer joint member are fastened and fixed to a mounting part of the outer joint member and a mounting part of a shaft extending from the inner joint member. At a part of an outer peripheral surface of the shaft where at least an inner peripheral surface of the boot contacts when the shaft takes an operating angle with respect to the outer joint member, a sliding bearing is arranged to reduce abrasion due to friction caused by relative movement between the outer peripheral surface of the shaft and the inner peripheral surface of the boot.

Provided is a fastening band including a steel plate () plated with a plating layer () as a base material. The plating layer () has a self-repairing function of forming a protective film () on a plating peeling part with a component dissolved from the plating layer. The steel plate plated with a zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy is used as the base material. The plating layer contains 4.0 mass % to 14.0 mass % of aluminum, 1.0 mass % to 10.0 mass % of magnesium, and the balance of zinc. The plating layer contains aluminum and magnesium in a total content of 15 mass % or less and zinc in a content of 85 mass % or more.

There is provided a constant velocity universal joint having excellent durability at high temperature while using a boot made of silicone rubber that does not include cerium oxide or other rare earth element-containing compound. The constant velocity universal joint is provided with an outer joint member (), an inner joint member (), a shaft () coupled to the inner joint member (), and a boot () mounted directly or via another member to the outer joint member () and the shaft (), the boot () being a molded article of a silicone rubber composition including silicone rubber, iron oxide, and titanium oxide and not including a rare earth element-containing compound. The silicone rubber composition furthermore includes barium zirconate as required.

The invention provides a grease composition for constant velocity joint containing the components (a) to (g) below and a constant velocity joint containing said composition. (a) a diurea thickening agent having the following formula (1):RNH&#x2014;CO&#x2014;NH&#x2014;CH--CH&#x2014;CH--NH&#x2014;CO&#x2014;NHR&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein Rand Rmay be the same or different and represent C-Calkyl groups, (b) an ester synthetic oil, (c) a mineral oil and/or a synthetic hydrocarbon oil, (d) a molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate, (e) molybdenum disulfide, (f) a polytetrafluoroethylene, and (g) a zinc dithiophosphate compound. The grease composition of the invention reduces variations in rotational resistance of the constant velocity joint at a low temperature.

A boot has a bellows section that includes three or more peak portions and three or more valley portions. A radially outer portion of each of the peak portions in vertical cross-section of the boot is formed into a round shape. A curvature radius of the radially outer portion of a peak portion being positioned at a central portion between a large diameter section and a small diameter section is set to be larger than curvature radii of the radially outer portions of the other peak portions.

Provided is a boot for a constant velocity universal joint capable of being properly engaged with an outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint and capable of increasing durability thereof. Over a shoulder portion () and a root portion () of a boot () for a constant velocity universal joint according to the present invention, there are formed a circular arc portion () adjacent to a large diameter portion () and having an axial sectional shape protruding radially outward and a linear portion () adjacent to the circular arc portion () and having a linear axial sectional shape. An innerperipheral surface () of the linear portion () is brought into contact with an opening end portion () of an outer joint member () of a constant velocity universal joint () such that a thickness from the circular arc portion () to the linear portion () is uniform.

Boot for constant velocity universal joint

A constant velocity universal joint has a boot with enhanced durability and compactness, which are achieved by suppressing abrasion of the boot. The constant velocity universal joint includes an outer joint member, an inner joint member, a torque transmitting member, a shaft, and a boot. The surface roughness of an outer peripheral surface of the shaft satisfies Rsk&#x3c;0, Rpk&#x3c;2 &#x3bc;m, and Ra&#x3c;4 &#x3bc;m.

The outer peripheral surface of the boot attaching section of an outer joint member (), when viewed in cross section, is non-cylindrical, with a large diameter section () and a small diameter section () appearing alternately. A thermoplastic elastomer boot () is composed of a large end side attaching section () adapted to fit on the boot attaching section of the outer joint member (), a small end side attaching section () adapted to fit on a second rotational axis (), and a bendable section () between the large and small end side attaching sections (), the large end side attaching section (), when viewed in cross section, being shaped such that its outer peripheral surface is circular and its inner peripheral surface extends along the outer peripheral surface shape of the boot attaching section of the outer joint member (), with thin-walled sections () and thick-walled sections () appearing alternately, the whole of the large end side attaching section () being filled with material.

Constant velocity joint and constant velocity joint boot

A constant velocity universal joint has improved sealability of the boot thereof and facilitates the positioning of the end sections of the boot in the axial direction at low cost while ensuring the strength of the outer race thereof. Protruding sections having a pointed shape at the tip ends thereof and having a triangular shape in cross section are provided on the inner peripheral surfaces of the large-diameter end section and the small-diameter end section of a boot. Sealing sections are respectively disposed annularly on the inner peripheral surfaces of the large-diameter end section and the small-diameter end section on the portions equally distant from the protruding sections on both sides thereof in the axial direction.

The present invention provides a grease composition for use in constant velocity joints, which comprises the following components (a) to (g) and a constant velocity joint comprising the grease composition sealed or encapsulated therein: The grease composition can efficiently prevent a temperature rise of a constant velocity joint and can impart excellent durability to the joint.
