A data archive system includes a data library apparatus and a server. The data library apparatus includes recording media having recording surfaces on both surfaces, a recording media storage unit for storing the recording media, a recording/reproducing unit for the surface for recording/reproducing the data on/from the surface of the recording media, a recording/reproducing unit for the rear surface for recording/reproducing the data on/from the rear surface, and a recording media transporting unit for transporting the recording media between the recording media storage units. The server includes a data configuration unit for allocating the data for recording on the surface and the rear surface of the recording media and a controller for controlling the data library apparatus. The data configuration unit of the server alternately allocates the recording data on the surface and the rear surface of the recording media different from each other.

Data archive system

Data recording and reproduction systems, apparatus, and methods provide efficient recording of and reproduction from storage media having multiple surfaces. In particular, a grouping processing unit groups data based on several factors. The grouped data can then be efficiently stored on storage media having multiple sides to increase the efficiency of storage and retrieval of such data. For example, data belonging to the same group is not stored on two surfaces of the same storage media to avoid having to remove and reverse the direction of the storage media in order to store data on or retrieve data from the other side of the storage media.

System and server for efficient data recording on and reproduction from storage media having multiple surfaces

A mobile communication terminal device which includes a plurality of different communication interfaces that are automatically switched for making a communication. The stable connection is ensured whether the terminal device remains at rest or is moving by monitoring positional information on the terminal device for a moving situation thereof to control a selection from a plurality of physical interfaces. This selection control involves selecting a connection to a narrow range communication such as wireless LAN which is inexpensive and stable when the terminal device remains at rest, and selecting a connection for a communication through a portable telephone which provides a connection over a wider range when the terminal device is moving. Also, a connection for a communication is automatically selected from the positional information, thereby permitting an automatic selection of a connection intended by the user.
