A fluorochemical coating composition is provided comprising (A) a hydrolyzable group-containing silane modified with a fluorooxyalkylene-containing polymer and (B) a fluorooxyalkylene-containing polymer having an average molecular weight not higher than the average molecular weight of component (A) in a weight ratio (A)/(B) of 40/60 to 95/5. The composition forms on a substrate a water/oil repellent layer which does not detract from the visibility of the substrate.

A perfluoropolyether rubber composition is useful for forming a polymer electrolyte membrane, comprising (A) an alkenyl-containing perfluoropolyether, (B) a silicon-oxygen crosslinked structure having ionic conduction, and (C) a peroxide crosslinker. The silicon-oxygen crosslinked structure is obtained by simultaneously effecting oxidation and hydrolysis on an organoxysilane having an epoxy group and an organoxysilane having a mercapto group for thereby converting the mercapto group into a sulfonic group, and neutralizing the resulting sulfonic group-containing siloxane with a nitrogen-containing compound.

Perfluoropolyether rubber composition and ion-conducting polymer electrolyte membrane

A curable fluoropolyether rubber composition comprising (A) a straight-chain fluoropolyether compound having at least two alkenyl groups and a perfluoropolyether structure, (B) an organosilicon compound having at least two SiH groups, (C) an organosilicon compound having a silanol group and a melting point of at least 60&#xb0; C., and (D) a hydrosilylation catalyst has advantages of little viscosity buildup and improved mold release and cures into a product that exhibits heat resistance, chemical resistance, water repellency, and oil repellency.

A curable rubber composition comprising a curable organopolysiloxane or perfluoropolyether group-containing organosilicon compound, a curing agent, and a silica filler having a mean particle size of 0.001-10 &#x3bc;m is cured into a cured rubber. A crosslinkable fluororubber composition comprising (A) a liquid perfluoro compound having alkenyl groups and a divalent perfluorolakylene or perfluoropolyether structure, (B) a reinforcing filler, (C) a surface treating agent having a fluoroalkyl or fluoropolyalkyl ether group and a silanol group, (D) an addition reactive compound having hydrosilyl groups, and (E) a hydrosilyl or peroxide crosslinker is prepared by mixing components (A) to (C) to form a liquid or paste composition, adding component (D) thereto to form a millable composition, and mixing component (E) therewith. The composition is effectively roll workable and cures into products having excellent physical properties.

Crosslinkable fluororubber compositions and method of preparation

Rubber aircraft parts are made of the cured form of a curable composition comprising a perfluoropolyether polymer having a perfluoropolyether backbone and at least one reactive group, a crosslinking agent for crosslinking the polymer, and a silica filler having an average particle size of 0.001-10 &mgr;m. By providing dramatically improved sealability at low temperatures of &minus;25 to &minus;55&deg; C., particularly during use in a dynamic state, and much improved resistance to amines and other chemicals, such rubber parts can ensure the reliable sealability of fluid line junctions in jet engines.

A liquid fluoropolyether base rubber composition comprising (A) a linear fluoropolyether compound containing at least two alkenyl groups and having a perfluoroalkyl ether structure in its backbone, (B) a silica filler having a specific surface area of at least 100 m /g and a bulk density of 100-200 g/l, (C) a curing amount of an organosilicon compound having at least two silicon-bound hydrogen atoms, and (D) a hydrosilylation catalyst is unlikely to thicken despite filler loading, is suitable for liquid injection molding and curable into products having improved mechanical properties as well as water repellency, oil repellency, solvent resistance, chemical resistance and weather resistance.

A crosslinkable fluororubber composition comprising (A) a perfluoro compound having at least two alkenyl groups and a divalent perfluoroalkylene or perfluoropolyether structure in the backbone or a polymer obtained by adding a compound having at least two hydrosilyl groups in the molecule to some alkenyl groups on the perfluoro compound, (B) a reinforcing filler, (C) a addition reaction crosslinking agent having a hydrosilyl group or a peroxide crosslinking agent, and (D) a surface treating agent having at least one fluoroalkyl or fluoropolyalkyl ether group and silanol groups is improved in heat resistance in the cured state by adding thereto (E) a heat resistance modifier selected from carbon black, metal oxides and metal hydroxides.

A curable fluoropolyether rubber composition comprising (A) a straight-chain fluoropolyether compound having at least two alkenyl groups and a perfluoropolyether structure backbone, (B) an organosilicon compound having at least two silicon atom-bonded hydrogen atoms, which all form H&mdash;SiCH &mdash; structures, and (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst cures into parts which have good heat resistance, chemical resistance, solvent resistance, parting property, water repellency, oil repellency and weather resistance as well as improved acid and alkali resistance and are useful as sealants.

Curable fluoropolyether rubber compositions

A crosslinkable fluororubber composition comprising (A) a polymer comprising a perfluoro compound having at least two alkenyl groups and a divalent perfluoroalkylene or perfluoropolyether structure a compound having at least two hydrosilyl groups, the hydrosilyl-bearing compound being added to some of the alkenyl groups in the perfluoro compound, (B) a reinforcing filler, and (C) a crosslinking agent having a hydrosilyl group and capable of addition reaction or a peroxide crosslinking agent, and (D) a surface treating agent having at least one fluoroalkenyl group and silanol group in the molecule, is roll millable and compression moldable. It cures into products having satisfactory solvent resistance, chemical resistance, heat resistance, and low-temperature properties.

Fluororubber compositions and method of making

A curable fluoropolyether base rubber composition contains (A) 100 parts by weight of a linear fluoropolyether compound having at least two alkenyl groups in a molecule and a perfluoroalkyl ether structure in its backbone, (B) 10-40 parts by weight of a silica filler having a specific surface area of at least 50 m /g, (C) 5-35 parts by weight of diatomaceous earth, (D) an organosilicon compound having at least two Si&mdash;H groups, and (E) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The inclusion of diatomaceous earth is effective for preventing the composition from outgassing and from changing its curing behavior with time.

A partially added cyclic organohydrogensiloxane is prepared in high yields by mixing (A) a cyclic organo-hydrogensiloxane having at least two Si&mdash;H bonds with (B) a cyclic or acyclic organic unsaturated compound having an aliphatic unsaturated double bond, effecting addition reaction in the presence of a platinum catalyst, adding a silylating agent to the reaction mixture, and isolating the product from the reaction mixture by distillation.
