A refrigerant compressor having a drive shaft rotatable to cause compression of a refrigerant gas, and a drive power transmission unit for transmitting a drive power from an external drive power source to the drive shaft, the drive power transmission unit having a pulley freely rotatably mounted around the drive shaft, a power transmitting element fixed to the drive shaft, and a shock absorbent rubber element arranged between the pulley and the power transmitting element for providing a positive engagement between the rubber element and the pulley, and between the rubber element and the power transmitting element. The shock absorbent rubber element absorbs a change in a load torque applied to the compressor before the torque change is transmitted to the external drive power source via the pulley, and disengages from at least one of the pulley and the power transmitting element when an excessive load torque is applied to the compressor to interrupt transmission of the excessive load torque from the compressor to the external drive power source.

Refrigerant compressor having improved drive power transmission unit

A compressor having a compression mechanism within a housing for compressing a refrigerant gas according to the rotation of a rotary shaft operatively connected to an external power source. A pulley is mounted on the rotary shaft and located on one side of the housing for transmitting power from the external power source to the shaft. A fan sends air to the outer surface of the housing by rotating with the pulley. Heat transferring fins are provided on the housing adjacent to the fan.

A variable capacity single-headed piston type compressor having a cylinder block defining therein a plurality of cylinder bores in which single-headed pistons are reciprocated so as to compress refrigerant gas in response to a rotation of rotation-to-reciprocation converting unit arranged in a crank shaft defined by the cylinder block and a front housing hermetically attached to a front end of the cylinder block, the crank chamber being provided with a suction gas inlet port formed so as to open into the crank chamber, a rear housing hermetically attached to a rear end of the cylinder block and defining a suction chamber for the refrigerant gas before compression and a discharge chamber for the refrigerant gas after compression, the suction chamber being in fluid communication with the crank chamber so as to receive the refrigerant gas from the crank chamber via a fluid passageway for the suction of the refrigerant gas, and a flow regulating valve arranged in the fluid passageway to adjustably change the cross-sectional area of the fluid passageway to thereby control the pressure in the suction chamber.

Variable capacity single-headed piston refrigement compressor

A compressor has a housing body, a drive shaft, a swash plate, and a piston. The swash plate converts rotation of the drive shaft to reciprocating movement of the piston in a cylinder bore. The piston compresses gas supplied to the cylinder bore from an external circuit via a suction chamber and discharges the compressed gas to a discharge chamber. The swash plate is tiltable with respect to a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft according to differential pressure between the crank chamber and the suction chamber. The swash plate controls the displacement of the compressor based on the inclination thereof. A spool is movable longitudinally between a first position and a second position in response to the inclination of the swash plate. The spool connects the external circuit with the suction chamber in the first position and disconnects the external circuit from the suction chamber in the second position. The housing body has a surface slidably engaged by the spool. A coating layer is provided on at least one of the spool and the slide surface to reduce frictional resistance occurring due to the sliding movement of the spool on the slide surface. A second coating layer is provided on an end surface of the spool to lubricate and thereby reduce frictional resistance with the housing surface along the periphery of the suction passage leading into the shutter chamber occurring due to rotation of the spool, and also to improve the seal between the end surface of the spool and the housing when in the second position closing off the suction passage.

Variable displacement compressor having a spool with a coating layer

A compressor has an internal refrigerant gas passage selectively connected to and disconnected with an external refrigerant circuit separately provided from the compressor. The compressor has a reciprocable piston in a cylinder bore formed in a housing for compressing gas supplied from the external refrigerant circuit to the internal refrigerant gas passage. A drive shaft is rotatably supported by the housing. A swash plate is supported on the drive shaft for integral rotation with and inclining motion with respect to the drive shaft. The swash plate is movable between a maximum incline and a minimum incline. A disconnecting apparatus disconnects the internal refrigerant gas passage from the external refrigerant circuit when the swash plate is at its minimum incline. A restricting member restricts the amount of gas to be passed through the internal refrigerant gas passage in association with the disconnecting apparatus when the swash plate moves.

Clutchless piston type variable displacement compressor

A compressor has a swash plate tiltable between maximum and minimum inclining angles with respect to a plane perpendicular to an axis of a drive shaft according to a difference between pressures in a crank chamber and a suction chamber. An internal gas passage includes the crank chamber, the suction chamber and a discharge chamber. The internal gas passage is connected to an external circuit separately provided from the compressor. The rotation of the drive shaft is converted to a reciprocating movement of a piston to vary a capacity of a cylinder bore. The piston compresses a gas supplied from the external circuit to the internal gas passage and discharges the gas to the external circuit. A inhibiting apparatus inhibits the circulation of the gas through the internal gas passage and the external circuit when the swash plate is located between the minimum inclining angle and a first inclining angle. The first inclining angle is greater than the minimum inclining angle of the swash plate.
