A control unit is proposed which makes it possible to prevent connection problems between a package box and a backboard and prevent damage to the connector of the backboard. The control unit comprises a unit cover in which a first package box, which comprises a predetermined function and on the rear side of which a first connector is provided, is inserted into the corresponding spatial area so as to move over a shelf from an open end [of the unit cover]; and a backboard which is disposed inside the unit cover and on which a second connector is provided in a position where the first package box, inserted in the corresponding spatial area, mates with the first connector, wherein the shelf is provided with a protrusion which rotatably supports the first package box in a fan direction.

Controller

Provided is a storage apparatus that uses a generally-used housing and allows storage devices mounted from two sides of the housing, in which a cooling device is provided in front of the storage devices and the cooling device is configured to be movable so as to open the front side of the storage devices so that maintenance and replacement of a storage device(s) can be performed from the two sides of the housing.

Storage apparatus and cooling method for storage apparatus

In a storage device accommodating a plurality of memory devices in a general-purpose chassis provided from both of the surface sides thereof, a cooling device is provided on the front of the memory devices. This cooling device is allowed to freely move to leave available the area in front of the memory devices, thereby enabling maintenance and replacement of the memory devices from the both surface sides of the chassis. With such a storage device of a type using a general-purpose chassis, and inserting therein a plurality of memory devices from the both surface sides thereof, even if a cooling device is located on the front of the chassis, the memory devices can be subjected to maintenance and replacement.

Storage device

In a storage device accommodating a plurality of memory devices in a general-purpose chassis provided from both surface sides thereof, a cooling device is provided on the front of the memory devices. This cooling device is allowed to freely move to leave available the area in front of the memory devices, thereby enabling maintenance and replacement of the memory devices from the both surface sides of the chassis. With such a storage device of a type using a general-purpose chassis, and inserting therein a plurality of memory devices from the both surface sides thereof, even if a cooling device is located on the front of the chassis, the memory devices can be subjected to maintenance and replacement.

A storage apparatus has a cabinet stored with an array of memory mediums, a power supply unit housed at the bottom of the cabinet, a fan provided immediately under the top surface of the cabinet and immediately above the memory mediums, and a partition member provided insides the cabinet and configured to partition a first cooling path from mixing with a second cooling path inside the cabinet. The first cooling path of first external air for cooling the memory mediums starts at an inlet on a side surface of the cabinet and ends at the top surface of the cabinet to discharge the first external air out of the cabinet form the top surface. The second cooling path of second external air for cooling the power supply unit ends at the top surface of the cabinet and discharges the second external air out of the cabinet at the top surface.

A plurality of control packagesare mounted on both sides of a basic chassisof a disk array device. A cable clamping mechanismis disposed on the underside of the control packagespositioned in the space between the control packagesand a power unit. A rail portionis disposed parallel to the direction in which the control packagesare arranged. A number of clamp corescorresponding to the number of the control packages (CHA) are movably disposed on the rail portion. Each clamp corecorresponds to each of the control package, and clamps cables in control package units. Even when tensile force acts on the cablesfrom below, the present invention prevents this force from acting directly on a control package

The invention provides a casing for a storage apparatus having a first receiving portion for receiving a disc drive box in which a plurality of disc drives are received in a line, the first receiving portion being approximately equal in height and width to the disc drive box, and a second receiving portion for receiving a control portion box in which a plurality of control boards for executing a control relating to a data input and output process with respect to the disc drive are received in a line, the second receiving portion being approximately equal in height and width to the first receiving portion.

Storage apparatus casing with interchangeable disk drive and control boxes

A cooling structure for electronic devices includes a plurality of electronic device accommodating boxes, in which electronic devices are accommodated, disposed in a casing in multiple stages. A vent portion which allows ventilation between the inside and the outside of the casing is formed in a ceiling of the casing. In a first accommodating portion for accommodating the first electronic device accommodating box which is defined at the stage close to the ceiling, a hollow duct having two opening faces is arranged. The first opening face faces the vent portion and the second opening face faces a second accommodating portion for accommodating the second electronic device accommodating box which is defined at the stage remote from the ceiling. Air inside the second electronic device accommodating box is discharged through the inside of the duct. Air inside of the first electronic device accommodating box is discharged from the vent portion.

Cooling structure for electronic devices

A disk array apparatus facilitating the management of dummy boards which are dismounted when logic boards are additionally installed, for example. A storage section for storing dummy boards, which are removed when logic boards are additionally installed, is provided in the disk array casing. The storage section is provided in a place where the dummy boards do not adversely affect the passages of the flow of cooling air in the disk array casing and the work of mounting or dismounting the component parts on the rear side of a platter cover for shielding the logic section where logic boards are accommodated, for example, and the dummy boards are fixed to the storage section with screws.

Disk array apparatus

A storage apparatus includes a first rack having electrical conductivity, on which are mounted channel control parts receiving data input/output requests, and disk control parts performing read/write of data from and to disk drives, a second rack having electrical conductivity, on which are mounted disk drives, and relay parts for relaying communications between the disk drives and disk control parts; and communication cables for connecting disk control parts to relay parts. The communication cables include a transmission medium through which to transmit data, a first conductor having electrical conductivity and surrounding the transmission medium, a second conductor having electrical conductivity and surrounding the first conductor, and a covering surrounding the second conductor. The first conductor is connected to ground potential supply circuits provided in at least either disk control parts or relay parts, and the second conductor is connected to at least one of the first and second racks.
