A line roller for guiding a fishing line to a spool of a spinning reel includes a bearing member rotatable about a rotational axis. The line roller also includes a guide member disposed outside the bearing member in a radial direction from the rotational axis. The guide member includes a holding portion and a body. The holding portion is made of a metal or a ceramic. The holding portion is to hold a fishing line. The holding portion extends in a circumferential direction centered about the rotational axis. The body includes a resin, and a guide surface for leading the fishing line to the holding portion.

Line roller

A sound generating mechanism of a dual bearing reel generates sound by the rotation of a spool, and includes a serrated member, an operation member, a sounding member, a first urging member, and a second urging member. The serrated member includes projections and rotates with the spool. The operation member can come into contact and be separated from the serrated member. The sounding member is pivotably movable in accordance with movement of the operation member between a sound generation position and a release position. The first urging member urges the sounding member toward the rotational center of the serrated member when the sounding member is in the sound generation position. While the sounding member is in the sound generation position, the second urging member applies a greater urging force to the sounding member when the spool rotates in the line-releasing direction than when the spool rotates in the line-winding direction.

A handle structure for a dual-bearing reel, which is rotatably mounted on the reel unit of a dual-bearing reel and is attached to the distal end of a handle shaft provided with a drag mechanism, includes a seat plate, a fixing component for fixing the seat plate, and a handle unit. The seat plate has a periphery and is non-rotatably stopped at the distal end of the handle shaft. The fixing component is provided to the distal end of the handle shaft and fixes the seat plate such that it cannot move in the axial direction with respect to the handle shaft. The handle unit is non-rotatably stopped at the seat plate. The handle unit has a surface adjacent the reel unit and includes a housing component for housing and covering the distal end of the handle shaft.

Handle structure for dual-bearing reel

The reel unit for a dual-bearing reel is a reel unit for a dual-bearing reel in which a fishing line is wound onto a rotating spool, and comprises a frame, first and second covers, a front cover, and a fishhook stopping component. The frame has a pair of side plates disposed to the left and right of the spool, and a plurality of linking components that link the side plates. The first and second covers are mounted so as to cover the sides of the side plates. The front cover is mounted so as to cover the front of the frame, and in it is formed an opening that is longer horizontally and that faces the fishing line guide of a level winding mechanism. The fishhook stopping component is a rod-shaped member positioned along the opening and to the outside of and at a distance from the front cover.

Reel unit for dual-bearing reel

A magnetic brake mechanism 22 is disclosed which brakes the rotation of a spool 15 on a double-bearing fishing reel. The brake mechanism 22 includes a flange portion 15a on the end of spool 15, two sets of three magnets 56, and a magnet positioning means 58. The magnetic positioning means 58 variably positions the magnets 56 between a first position, in which the magnets 56 are generally parallel to the surface of the flange portion 15a, and a second position in which the magnets 56 are generally perpendicular thereto. The rotation of the flange portion 15a causes the rotation of the magnetic flux from the magnets 56 to generate an eddy current. As a result, force is applied to the flange portion 15a in the direction opposite its rotation and brakes the rotation of spool 15.

Brake mechanism for double-bearing fishing reel

A baitcasting reel has fight and left frames, and a level wind mechanism mounted between the frames. The level wind mechanism includes a screw shaft rotatably supported by the frames, and a line guide reciprocable right and left with rotation of the screw shaft. The screw shaft has a step surface defined on one end region thereof and lying in a plane perpendicular to a rotational axis thereof, and a small diameter portion continuous with the step surface. A tubular element is disposed in a position to cover an upper surface of the screw shaft. A bearing is formed integral with an end of the tubular element to receive and rotatably support the small diameter portion of the screw shaft. A retainer is mounted on the small diameter portion projecting from the beating, to be opposed to the step surface across the beating. The retainer is in contact with or adjacent a surface of the bearing remote from the step surface.

A clutch control structure for a fishing reel includes a clutch controller for operating a clutch mechanism mounted in a rotational drive system for transmitting an operating force of a line winding handle as a rotating force to a spool, an interlock mechanism connecting the clutch controller to the clutch mechanism, and a clutch return mechanism for forcibly returning the clutch mechanism from a disengaged state to an engaged state in response to an operation of the handle. The clutch return mechanism includes a ratchet wheel mounted upstream of the clutch mechanism with respect to a direction of drive transmission through the rotational drive system, and a return member operatively connected to the interlock mechanism to be movable, when the clutch mechanism is disengaged, to an operative position to receive a returning force from the ratchet wheel, and retractable to an inoperative position under the returning force imparted from the ratchet wheel in response to a line winding operation of the handle, to engage the clutch mechanism. The clutch interlock mechanism includes an elastic flexion mechanism provided between the return member and clutch controller for absorbing a returning force exceeding a predetermined value imparted from the ratchet wheel.

Clutch control structure for a fishing reel

A fishing reel includes a clutch mechanism disposed between a spool and a winding control system, and a pair of clutch controllers for disengaging the clutch mechanism. One of the clutch controllers has a toggle spring for causing this controller to retain the clutch mechanism in a disengaged position after a declutching operation. The other clutch controller has a coil spring for allowing a declutching operation in a momentary mode. Upon release of the other clutch controller after a declutching operation, the coil spring causes the clutch mechanism to return to an engaged position and the other clutch controller to an inoperative position.

A fishing reel has a clutch and a selector mechanism for selectively providing a toggle mode where at least the clutch is maintained at the disengaged state with operation of a control member from a first position to a second position and a momentary mode where with release of the operation of the control member the control member is returned to the first position for returning the clutch to the engaged state. The clutch is a swivel operation type mechanism engaged with swivel operation of a swivel member into an engaging range and disengaged with further swivel operation of the swivel member into a disengaging range. A dead point is provided within the disengaging range for rendering the swivel member or a control unit therefor inoperative so as to allow a toggle member to provide urging force to maintain at least the clutch at the engaged state. The selector mechanism includes a limiting member switchable between a position for preventing the swivel member from reaching the dead point of the toggle member when the swivel member is operated by the control member from the engaging range to the disengaging range and a further position for allowing the swivel member to swivel beyond the dead point.

A baitcasting reel comprises a handle shaft including a handle, a spool shaft including a spool, a transmission mechanism for transmitting drive between the handle and spool, a clutch mounted in the transmission mechanism, and a clutch control mechanism for operating the clutch. The swing arm has one end thereof supported for pivotal movement about an axis of the handle shaft, and the other end extending beyond the spool shaft. The clutch controller is connected to the other end of the swing arm to be linearly movable between clutch engaging and disengaging positions.

A fishing reel has a brake apparatus disposed between a reel body and a spool shaft. The brake apparatus includes a rotary element mounted on the spool shaft to be rotatable relative thereto and to the reel body, a first brake mechanism for transmitting a braking force from the reel body to the rotary element, and a second brake mechanism for transmitting the braking force from the rotary element to the spool shaft. When the spool reaches a maximum rotating speed, rotating speed of the rotary element does not increase greatly since the first brake mechanism slips due to inertia of the rotary element. Subsequently, the rotating speed of the rotary element increases with lapse of time. As a result, the first brake mechanism effectively applies a braking force to the spool after the spool reaches the maximum speed.

A baitcasting reel includes a spool and a clutch controller disposed between right and left side bodies. The clutch controller acts also as a thumb rest disposed immediately rearwardly of the spool. The clutch controller is manually operable between a first control position to engage a clutch mechanism, and a second control position to disengage the clutch mechanism. A link mechanism connects the clutch controller to the side bodies such that a thumb rest surface of the clutch controller is maintained in a horizontal or forwardly inclined posture while the clutch controller is switched from the first control position to the second control position.

The attaching shaft integrally defines a non-round retaining portion at an end of the attaching shaft, with the retaining portion projecting radially and outwardly relative to the attaching shaft. The transmission member forms an anti-rotation face peripherally engageable with the retaining portion so as to prevent axial rotation of the transmission member relative to the attaching shaft, a retaining face axially engageable with the retaining portion so as to prevent withdrawal of the transmission member from the attaching shaft, and a through hole for inserting the attaching shaft therethrough. The through hole has a non-round shape which shape allows insertion of the retaining portion only when the transmission member is out of an axial setting position thereof relative to the attaching shaft.
