In a determination device including at least one sub-device and a control device that controls the sub-device, and determining suitability of the sub-device, the control device includes a selection unit that selects a type of an actual operation characteristic to be obtained from the sub-device, a model information obtaining unit that obtains, as model information, an operation characteristic estimated to be output from the sub-device that is suitable, the operation characteristic corresponding to the selected type, an operation information obtaining unit that obtains actual operation information representing operation information regarding the actual operation characteristic of the sub-device, a determination unit that determines the suitability of the sub-device in accordance with a difference between the obtained actual operation information and the obtained model information, and a determination result output unit that outputs a determination result of the determination unit.

A motor drive apparatus includes: a converter which converts AC power to DC power and to output the DC power to a DC link; an inverter including power devices which converts the DC power to AC power for driving a motor; a capacitor provided in the DC link; a shut-off circuit to open and close an electrical path between the AC power source and the converter; a constant current control unit which performs control in such a manner as to allow a constant current supplied by the capacitor to pass through a detection target power device among the power devices in the inverter; and an abnormality detection unit which detects an abnormality in the detection target power device based on changes in voltage between a collector and an emitter of the detection target power device during a period in which the constant current passes through the detection target power device.

The converter has power switching elements, a first power regenerative control unit for controlling the power switching elements in the power regenerative operation by using pulse width modulation signal whose pulse width changes with a value indicated by a command signal; a second power regenerative control unit for controlling the power switching elements in the power regenerative operation to generate respective power regenerative currents in a phase representing the maximum potential among three phases of a three-phase AC power supply and a phase representing the minimum potential among the three phases, and a power regenerative operation switching unit for switching a control of the power switching elements in the power regenerative operation between a control by the first power regenerative control unit and a control by the second power regenerative control unit.
