A saddle-riding type vehicle includes a vehicle body, a pivot frame that supports a swing arm for rear wheel suspension, and a rear master cylinder disposed rearwardly of the pivot frame. A reservoir tank supplies hydraulic fluid to the rear master cylinder, and the reservoir tank is disposed between the pivot frame and the rear master cylinder. A portion of the swing arm, adjacent to the reservoir tank, is configured with a concave recess formed therein extending inwardly towards a longitudinal center line of the vehicle body. The reservoir tank is situated closer to a vehicle body inner side, and is deeper in the recess than the rear master cylinder.

A radially mounted disk brake has a caliper body secured to a support member secured to a vehicle body. The caliper body has mounting holes extending in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation of a disk rotor. Large-diameter hole portions are formed at the openings of the mounting holes on the side thereof closer to the support member. The large-diameter hole portions are fitted with the side wall surfaces of cylindrical step portions provided on the support member in such a manner that gaps are formed between the bottoms of the large-diameter hole portions and the distal end surfaces of the step portions. The center of the axial length of each mounting hole is positioned radially outward of the disk rotor in the axial direction of the mounting hole with respect to a shortest-distance portion of the caliper body at which the distance between the center of a cylinder bore and the mounting hole is shortest.

Radially mounted disk brake

A pin connection structure is used in a floating type brake disc assembly. The assembly is made up of a hub, and an annular disc which is concentrically disposed around the hub with a clearance therebetween. The hub and the disc have plural sets of semicircular connecting dents opening toward the clearance to thereby form respective inserting holes. A hollow pin is inserted into each of the inserting holes with a washer fitted on that one end of the hollow pin which is subsequently caulked radially outward for fixing the washer in position. The hollow pin is made of a metal having a surface-treated layer, and the caulked end of the hollow pin is formed into a convex shape in at least part of the end portion.

Method of connecting two members using a pin

A disc brake includes a piston seal made of rubber that is shaped to fit into a seal groove on the inner surface of a cylinder of a caliper for a brake piston. To prevent braking effectiveness from being impaired, even if the temperature of a caliper rises in a disc brake for a vehicle, the piston seal and/or the seal groove is shaped to control and contain the effects of thermal expansion due to the heat of the disc brake. The clearance between the piston seal and the seal groove is removed and clearance is provided between parts of the periphery of the piston seal and the seal groove.

To stabilize a friction coefficient of a dust seal member or brake-gap adjustment seal member to a piston in a disc brake regardless of temperature change. At least an inner circumferential surfaces of a dust seal member and a brake-gap adjustment seal member, attached to a brake caliper, are coated with a friction reducing agent.

In a master cylinder device for a vehicle having a master cylinder with a cylinder body attached in the vicinity of a grip of a steering bar handle, and an operating lever which is supported on the cylinder body through a pivot and is pulled toward the grip to thereby push a piston of the master cylinder, the cylinder body is mounted in such a position that, below the axis of the bar handle, the axis of the cylinder body is substantially orthogonal to a vertical plane which includes the axis of the bar handle, whereby the master cylinder can be mounted even in a narrow space on the bar handle in a motorcycle and the like having a steering bar handle.

Master cylinder device for vehicles

A motor vehicle with a handlebar includes a vehicle frame assembly, at least one front wheel rotatably supported on the vehicle frame assembly, at least one rear wheel rotatably supported on the vehicle frame assembly, an engine mounted on the vehicle frame assembly between the front and rear wheels, and a hydraulicaly operated power steering system operatively coupled to the handlebar. The power steering system comprising a substantially cylindrical housing, an input shaft rotatably supported in the housing and coupled to the handlebar, an output shaft rotatably supported in the housing coaxially with the input shaft and operatively coupled to the front wheel, a hydraulically actuated vane motor coupled to the output shaft for applying a torque to the output shaft, and a control valve mechanism combined with the input and output shafts for controlling the vane motor based on a relative angular difference between the input and output shafts. The housing serves as part of the vehicle frame assembly.
