A noise suppression structure to be mounted on a cooling system for an electrical device of a vehicle includes a duct, a blower, and a sound absorber. The duct extends from inside a vehicle cabin of the vehicle to inside the vehicle cabin or outside the vehicle cabin through the electrical device. The blower is configured to draw air from the vehicle cabin into the duct and feed the air to the electrical device. The sound absorber is disposed in the duct. The duct has a curved portion where an extension direction of the duct changes. The curved portion is located on one of or each of an upstream side and a downstream side of the electrical device. The sound absorber is disposed in a fluid stagnation region where a flow of the air tends to stagnate in the curved portion.

The in-vehicle battery attachment structure includes at least one left battery module and at least one right battery module, a housing case, and a battery frame. A vehicle battery pack for an electric vehicle includes a battery, a battery-cooling-air channel, a fume exhaust channel, a fume-ventilation restricting unit, a temperature sensor, a blower fan, and a controller. Cooling air that cools the battery flows through the battery-cooling-air channel. Fumes generated from the battery flow through the fume exhaust channel. The fume exhaust channel is coupled to the battery-cooling-air channel. The fume-ventilation restricting unit closes off the fume exhaust channel from the battery-cooling-air channel in a normal state, whereas causing the battery-cooling-air channel and the fume exhaust channel to communicate with each other in an abnormal state. The temperature sensor detects a temperature of the fumes. The controller controls the blower fan, and increase the air volume of the blower fan on the basis of the temperature detected by the temperature sensor.

Embodiments in accordance with the present invention reduce the height of a head gimbal assembly (HGA) while maintaining the rigidity of a load beam. According to one embodiment of the present invention, an HGA includes a slider, a flexure, and a load beam. The load beam includes a flange formed to protrude to the opposite side to a magnetic disk at the edge of the load beam extending in the length-wise direction. The load beam has a recessed portion opened to the side opposing the magnetic disk and having an opening area larger than the area of the back surface of the slider opposing the flexure. The slider is provided in the recessed portion so that the position of the surface of the load beam is between a virtual surface including the surface of the slider opposing the magnetic disk and a virtual surface including the slider back surface.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a structure of a pivot receiving surface which may excellently adjust the attitude of a head supporting mechanism in a magnetic disk drive. In one embodiment, three projections are formed at a base for supporting a pivot assembly. The first projection is formed on a first line which bisects an angle defined between a second line and a third line determining a range, in which a head/slider flies above a magnetic disk. In contrast, the other two projections are formed at positions apart from the first projection at an angle of 120&#xb0;, respectively. The attitude of the pivot assembly is adjusted by adjusting the heights of the projections, and thus, a head supporting mechanism is corrected in a predetermined attitude within the range in which the head/slider flies above the magnetic disk.

Embodiments of the invention provide an FPC connecting structure superior in positioning in a magnetic disk drive. According to one embodiment, in an FPC-connector connecting structure in a magnetic disk drive, edge portions rise from the bottom of a base and there are formed inner surfaces of the edge portions. An FPC connected to a spindle motor and drawn out from an FPC draw-out port has an FPC terminal portion formed at an extreme end thereof. The FPC terminal portion comes into contact with the inner surfaces and is positioned thereby. A guide pin is also used for the positioning. Positioning of the FPC terminal portion may be done easily and positively by utilizing a corner of the base.

A rotating disk storage device has a stopper mechanism and a latch mechanism for diminishing a shock imposed on an actuator head suspension assembly (AHSA) and permits positive retraction of the AHSA upon occurrence of an external shock or runaway. In one embodiment, the latch mechanism comprises an AHSA which is supported pivotably, a stopper which restricts a pivotal movement in a pivot direction of the AHSA, an inertia member adapted to move pivotally in a corresponding pivot direction when the AHSA moves pivotally in the pivot direction while causing the stopper to be deformed elastically, and a latch member which has an engaging portion and which, upon receipt of the torque from the inertia member, moves pivotally in a direction opposite from the corresponding pivot direction, and causes the engaging portion to move to a latching position.
