A memory system includes a volatile memory, a nonvolatile memory, and a controller. The controller is configured to set a block group of the nonvolatile memory to be in a writable state and generate in the volatile memory a list associated with the block group. The controller is configured to, with respect to a write command, add an entry to the list, which includes a first address of a host and a second address of the volatile memory, obtain the write data from the first address of the host and store the write data in the second address of the volatile memory, write the write data stored at the second address of the volatile memory into the block group, and upon the block group being fully written, set the block group to be in a non-writable state and dissociate the list from the block group.

A storage device includes a nonvolatile semiconductor memory device including a plurality of physical blocks and a memory controller. The memory controller is configured to associate one or more physical blocks to each of a plurality of stream IDs, execute a first command containing a first stream ID received from a host, by storing write data included in the write IO in the one or more physical blocks associated with the first stream ID, and execute a second command containing a second stream ID received from the host, by selecting a first physical block that includes valid data and invalid data, transfer the valid data stored in the first physical block to a second physical block, and associate the first physical block from which the valid data has been transferred, with the second stream ID.

According to one embodiment, a computing system transmits to a storage device a write request designating a first logical address for identifying first data to be written and a length of the first data. The computing system updates a first table which manages mapping between logical addresses and physical addresses of the storage device and maps the first physical address to the first logical address.

The control apparatus writes data to or reads data from a storage medium that includes a plurality of non-volatile memory chips. According to one embodiment, a storage system performs a first allocation operation of allocating, for a first namespace, a plurality of first blocks included in the blocks of a nonvolatile memory. The storage system performs a read operation, a write operation or an erase operation on one of the first blocks in response to a command received from a host to read, write or erase the one first block, counts the total number of erase operations performed on the first blocks, and notifies the host of the counted number of erase operations in response to a command received from the host to obtain an erase count associated with the first namespace.

According to one embodiment, when a read request received from a host includes a first identifier indicative of a first region, a memory system obtains a logical address from the received read request, obtains a physical address corresponding to the obtained logical address from a logical-to-physical address translation table which manages mapping between logical addresses and physical addresses of the first region, and reads data from the first region, based on the obtained physical address. When the received read request includes a second identifier indicative of a second region, the memory system obtains physical address information from the read request, and reads data from the second region, based on the obtained physical address information.
