An airbag device includes an actuator of a configuration that causes a string-form coupling member extending from an airbag to be coupled, and controls an inflation aspect of the airbag by causing a state of coupling with the coupling member to be maintained or terminated. The actuator includes a gas generator that can eject a combustion gas and a holder portion that can hold the coupling member. The holder portion includes a holding wall portion, which can hold the wound coupling member on an outer peripheral face side, and a top wall portion that closes a leading end side of the holding wall portion, and a contact region in which the combustion gas can be brought into contact with the coupling member is disposed in a region of the holding wall portion. The actuator causes the coupling member to be severed by causing the combustion gas to come into contact with the coupling member in the contact region, whereby a state of the coupling member being held in the holder portion can be terminated.

Airbag device

An airbag for a passenger seat is folded and stored in a storage so as to be deployed towards the passenger seat in such a manner as to enlarge towards the left and right when exiting the storage. The airbag includes a bag body that includes a mount-side portion to be mounted on the storage, and a cover panel that is made of a flexible sheet-shaped material and covers an outer circumference of the mount-side portion of the bag body. The cover panel is configured to cover an edge of a peripheral member of the storage at least in left and right sides of the storage at airbag deployment. The cover panel is joined to the bag body in such a manner that its edge portion is capable of slipping relative to the bag body at least in the left and right portions.

Airbag for a passenger seat

An airbag device includes an airbag formed with a discharge portion. The discharge portion includes: an opening portion; a tack portion around the opening portion; and a regulating belt portion disposed on a peripheral edge of the opening portion to regulate opening and closing of the opening portion. When the inflation of the airbag is completed, the tack portion is maintained in a folded state by the regulating belt portion due to tension acting on the regulation belt portion, so that a closed state of the opening portion is capable of being maintained, and when the tension does not act on the regulating belt portion, the folded state is released and the opening portion is brought into an open state.

A passenger seat airbag device includes an airbag including a front collision restraining surface, and an oblique collision restraining portion including a protruding portion in which a surface is set as an oblique collision restraining surface, and a restraining recess portion whose facing surfaces are able to restrain the head of the occupant. The rear wall main portion has the front collision restraining surface. The rear wall end edge portion has the oblique collision restraining surface. The upper edge of the rear wall end edge portion is coupled to a rear edge of the upper wall portion. The lower edge of the rear wall end edge portion is coupled to a rear edge of the lower wall portion. An entire edge of the separation edge of the rear wall end edge portion is coupled to a rear edge of the rear edge side portion.

Passenger seat airbag device

An airbag having an exhaust hole and an opening/closing control device configured to control opening and closing of the exhaust hole are provided. The airbag includes a bag body, and a discharge portion having the exhaust hole, the discharge portion is configured to maintain a blocked state of the exhaust hole by being drawn into the bag body at the time of inflation of the bag body in a state where connection between a connection member and the opening/closing control device is maintained, and to be inflated by protruding from the bag body at the time of inflation of the bag body in a state where the connection between the connection member and the opening/closing control device is released to open the exhaust hole. A dummy inflation portion inflated to partially protrude from the bag body is formed at a position approximately symmetrical to the discharge portion. A volume of the dummy inflation portion at the time of inflating completion is set to be smaller than a volume of the discharge portion in a state where the exhaust hole is open at the time of inflation.

Airbag device with exhaust hole

An airbag device includes an airbag, a connecting member extending from the airbag, and an actuator mounted on an airbag housing for controlling an inflation manner of the airbag. The actuator includes an actuator body that includes an operating pin which penetrates the connecting member, a mounting plate that holds the actuator body and is secured to the airbag housing, and a supporting plate that is disposed in a vicinity of a leading end portion of the operating pin. The supporting plate includes a supporting hole for receiving the operating pin, and a flange that is formed in a part of a periphery of the supporting hole toward which the connecting member is released. The flange extends along an axial direction of the operating pin towards the leading end of the operating pin for supporting the leading end portion of the operating pin with its surface facing the operating pin.

A passenger seat airbag device includes an airbag and a regulating member which regulates deploying and inflating of the airbag. The regulating member includes a temporary holding portion which includes a base portion and a cover portion arranged below the base portion and temporarily and releasably holds a folded part of the folded airbag. While the temporary holding portion rotating rearward, the folded part of the folded airbag is released from a release opening. The airbag is folded and stored in a storage part while a rear end side including a rear end of a preliminary folded airbag is arranged below the cover portion of the temporary holding portion and extends forward from the release opening.

A passenger seat airbag includes a passenger side wall for catching a passenger, and a circumferential wall that extends forward from the passenger side wall in a converging fashion. The circumferential wall includes an upper wall, a lower wall, a left wall and a right wall, and can be mounted on a housing by the front end. An inlet port for introducing inflation gas is disposed at a front end region of the lower side wall, at a position displaced to the right from the center in a left and right direction of the passenger side wall. In the front end region of the circumferential wall, with respect to a substantial circumferential length which permits free expansion, a left circumferential wall region disposed on the left of the inlet port and a right circumferential wall region disposed on the right of the inlet port have equal substantial circumferential lengths.

Passenger seat airbag and method of folding the same

A vehicle occupant protection device includes an airbag constructed as an integrated bag body that is deployable in an area including a front side of a head portion of a vehicle occupant, and in an area including both left and right sides of the head portion of the vehicle occupant, and an airbag case. The airbag case includes a box-shaped case main body provided on a seat rear side of a headrest main body, in which the airbag is housed in a folded state, and that inflates and deploys the airbag from an upper portion of the case main body during an inflation and deployment of the airbag, and a reaction force plate that is provided in a lower portion side of the case main body and inside the case main body, and that supports the airbag from the seat rear side during the inflation and deployment of the airbag.

Vehicle occupant protection device

A vehicle airbag device of the present disclosure includes an airbag provided inside a front passenger seat side of an instrument panel. The airbag includes: a first bag inflated and deployed from the instrument panel toward the front passenger seat side; and a second bag inflated and deployed at a vehicle width direction center side of the first bag. The second bag is disposed, in side view, at a vehicle rear side of a vehicle cabin interior component, and is disposed, in side view, obliquely at a vehicle lower side and rear side of an inner mirror. The second bag is inflated and deployed from the first bag toward the vehicle width direction center side on being supplied with gas from the first bag that has been inflated and deployed.

Vehicle airbag device

A vehicle occupant protection device includes: an airbag that is configured to be stowed in a headrest, to receive a gas supply and is formed as a single bag body that, in an inflated and expanded state, includes a front inflation portion configured to be disposed at the front in a seat front-rear direction relative to a head of a vehicle occupant, and a pair of side inflation portions configured to be disposed at both sides in a seat width direction relative to the head of the vehicle occupant; an inflator that is fixed to an upper portion of a seatback frame in an attitude with a long dimension of the inflator in the seat width direction, the upper portion of the seatback frame extending in the seat width direction; and a fluid communication structure that communicates between the inflator and the airbag to allow a flow of gas.

An occupant protection device configured as an integral bag body including an airbag, the airbag including: a frame duct that includes an upper duct inflated and deployed at a seat upper side of the head of an occupant with a seat front end of the upper duct reaching a seat front side of the head of the occupant in an inflated and deployed state; a front inflating portion that receives gas supplied from a portion of the frame duct that has reached in front of the head, and is that inflated and deployed at the seat front side of the head of the occupant; and a pair of lateral inflating portions that receive gas supplied from the frame duct or the front inflating portion, or both, and that are inflated and deployed at both seat width direction sides of the head of the occupant.

Occupant protection device

An occupant protection device, including an airbag that is inflated and deployed on being supplied with gas, the airbag configuring an integral bag body including a front inflating portion that is inflated and deployed at a seat front side of the head of an occupant and that limits movement of the head toward a seat front side, and a pair of lateral inflating portions that are inflated and deployed at both seat width direction sides of the head of the occupant and that limit movement of the head toward a seat side, wherein an energy absorption amount with respect to displacement of the head by at least the lateral inflating portion, from out of the pair of lateral inflating portions, positioned at a vehicle width direction outside is greater than an energy absorption amount with respect to displacement of the head by the front inflating portion.

A vehicle occupant protection device including: an airbag constructed as an integrated bag body that is deployed in an area including a front side of a head portion of a vehicle occupant, and in an area including both left and right sides of the head portion of the vehicle occupant; and an airbag case that includes a box-shaped case main body provided on a seat rear side of a headrest main body, in which the airbag is housed in a folded state, and whose upper portion opens up during an inflation and deployment of the airbag, and a reaction force plate that is provided in a lower portion side of the case main body, and is formed by a component having greater rigidity than the case main body, and that supports the airbag from the seat rear side during the inflation and deployment of the airbag.

A vehicle occupant protection device that includes: an airbag that is constructed as an integrated bag body that covers a head portion of a vehicle occupant and includes a forward-deploying portion, and a pair of left and right side-deploying portions which are connected to the forward-deploying portion and deploy in both left and right sides of the head portion, and that is housed in a folded state in an upper portion of a vehicle seat; an inflator that supplies gas to the airbag; and an airbag moving mechanism that causes the airbag to move from the upper portion of the vehicle seat over the head portion to the seat front side, so that a front end portion of the airbag is disposed further to the seat front side than a head top portion of the vehicle occupant who is seated in a normal state.
