A resin-sealed semiconductor device includes a power element (), a control element (), a first lead frame () having a first die pad (A) which holds the power element (), a second lead frame () having a second die pad (A) which holds the control element (), and a housing () made of a resin material and sealing the power element, the first die pad, the control element, and the second die pad. A lower surface of the second die pad is higher than an upper surface of the first element, and at least part of the first die pad and at least part of the second die pad overlap each other when viewed from the top. One of the first leads and one of the second leads are directly joined together by a joint portion () and electrically coupled together in the housing.

Resin-sealed semiconductor device and method for fabricating the same

A semiconductor device includes: a first lead having an element mounting portion; a second lead located in a same plane as the first lead, with a predetermined space left between the first lead and the second lead; a molding encapsulant made of a resin for fixing the leads; and a semiconductor element affixed to a top surface of the element mounting portion of the first lead. The molding encapsulant covers at least part of each of upper and lower surfaces of the leads. A resin injection hole mark, which is a mark of a hole through which the encapsulant has been injected, is left on the encapsulant, and part of the resin injection hole mark is located above the first lead or the second lead, and the remaining part of the resin injection hole mark is located above a space between the first lead and the second lead.

An optical pickup device in which a hologram element has a plurality of different diffraction directions. In the tracking standard state, the hologram element is divided into six areas by a straight line connecting two strength center points of two light beams, and by two straight lines that are perpendicular to the straight line. By adding the amount of light received by an area demarcated by two straight lines that pass the two strength center points, to the amount of light received by one of two outer areas sandwiching the area depending on the type of the light beam, it is possible to obtain a well-balanced tracking error signal for each of the two light beams.

An optical pickup having a light-emitting element, an objective lens unit, a reflecting mirror and a light-receiving element, emits a beam onto an optical recording medium and uses a reflected beam to read recorded information. In the objective lens unit, a central part of a surface, facing the light-emitting element, of an objective lens disposed so that an optical axis is substantially aligned with a chief ray of the beam emitted by the light-emitting element, is a transmissive diffraction grating, and a central part of a surface of the objective lens that will face the optical recording medium is a convex mirror which bulges toward the light-emitting element. The reflecting mirror, which is annular and encompasses the optical axis of the objective lens, reflects toward the objective lens the beam from the light-emitting element that has passed through the transmissive diffraction grating and been reflected by the convex mirror. The light-receiving element receives first-order diffracted light, of the reflected beam from the recording medium, diffracted by the transmissive diffraction grating.

An optical semiconductor device comprising an emitted beam branching section () which branches an emitted light beam from a laser device (), a reflected light beam branching section () which branches a reflected light beam from an information recording medium () into light beams different from each other in focused state, servo signal sensing photodetectors () which receive the branched reflected light beam in a defocused state, a first diffraction grating provided in the emitted light beam branching section for diffracting the reflected light beam having passed through the reflected light beam flux branching section, and a signal sensing photodetector () which receives the reflected light beam diffracted by the first diffraction grating.

Optical element with diffraction grating, semiconductor device, and optical information recording device employing the same

To provide a manufacturing method for an optical pickup in which a movable member carrying an objective lens is supported by a fixed member through a pair of elastic support member groups, which are each made up of a plurality of parallel elastic support members, so as to be movable in focusing and tracking directions. In a suspension unit forming step, two holding members are formed from a synthetic resin by insert molding at different positions of each elastic support member group in a lengthwise direction of the elastic support members, thereby forming a pair of suspension units. In a connecting step, the pair of suspension units are opposed with an arrangement direction of the elastic support members being substantially the same as the focusing direction, and one holding member of each suspension unit is connected to the movable member and the other holding member to the fixed member.

Method for manufacturing an optical pickup

A first diffractive optical element pattern with a pattern pitch that is no greater than a wavelength of incident light is formed on a first main surface of substrate such as a glass plate. Second diffractive optical element patterns are formed at positions that are respectively incident to positive first-order diffracted light and negative first-order diffracted light produced by the first diffractive optical element pattern. Negative first-order diffracted light produced by each second diffractive optical element pattern is incident upon a boundary face of the substrate at an angle that is smaller than the critical angle, and so exits the substrate.

Diffractive optical element that polarizes light and an optical pickup using the same

A movable enclosure contains optical components, such as an objective lens, a semiconductor laser, a mirror, and a photodetector. The movable enclosure is supported by a fixed member via a plurality of wires that are positioned in parallel. This construction allows the movable enclosure to move in a tracking direction and a focusing direction. The plurality of wires are insulated from one another to be also used as power-supplying lines and signal lines for the semiconductor laser and the photodetector.

Optical pickup with improved optical properties

An optical device includes a light-emitting element for irradiating light onto an information recording medium, a diffraction grating for splitting light emitted from said light-emitting element into a plurality of beams, a focussing member for focussing the plurality of beams onto the information recording medium, a deflection member for deflecting the plurality of beams after they have been reflected from the information recording medium; and a photodetector for receiving the plurality of beams after they have been deflected by the deflection member. The diffraction grating has a first grating region and a second grating region, which have different diffraction efficiencies. The zero-order diffraction light in the first grating region is used as the main beam for reproducing the information signal, and the &plus;1-order or &minus;1-order diffraction light in the second grating regions is used as sub-beams for reproduction of the tracking error signal. Thus, the light amount of both the main beam and the sub-beams can be increased without increasing the light emission of the semiconductor laser element , and the S/N ratio of the main beam and the sub-beams can be enhanced.

Optical device with diffraction grating having plural grating regions

A lens holding member carrying an objective lens is movable and supported by a fixed member via a plurality of supporting members. Each supporting member includes a bent part in its base portion on the side of the fixed member. The bent part is bent in a first direction (focusing direction) and a second direction (tracking direction) that are perpendicular to each another. Each supporting member is shaped so as to make all the principal planes of the supporting member parallel to the second direction. The fixed member includes a concave, which is impregnated with a gel material so that the bent part is covered with the gel material.

A semiconductor laser device includes a semiconductor laser element, a light beam branching element for branching a light beam emitted from the semiconductor laser element and reflected by an optical recording medium into a plurality of light beams, a light beam reflector for reflecting the light beam branched by the light beam branching element, and a photodetector portion for detecting the light beam reflected by the light beam reflector. The light beam branching element and the photodetector portion are formed on the same substrate. The miniature semiconductor laser device can be assembled without complicated position adjustment and has less deterioration of characteristics arising from misregistration during and after assembly.

An optical pickup that is equipped with a photodetector unit, irradiates an optical disc with a laser beam, and receives returning light reflected by the optical disc, where the optical pickup is constructed to (1) divide the laser beam into a main beam, a preceding sub-beam, and a succeeding sub-beam, (2) direct the main beam, the preceding sub-beam, and the succeeding sub-beam toward the optical disc, and (3) divide returning lights of the main beam, the preceding sub-beam, and the succeeding sub-beam respectively into first-fourth main returning lights, first-fourth preceding returning lights, and first-fourth succeeding returning lights, and the photodetector unit includes: first-fourth main photodetectors that respectively receive the first-fourth main returning lights; first-fourth preceding photodetectors that respectively receive the first-fourth preceding returning lights; and first-fourth succeeding photodetectors that respectively receive the first-fourth succeeding returning lights. A tracking error signal appropriate to the optical disc to be reproduced is selected from three tracking error signals detected according to the detection signals from the photodetectors, and a tracking servo is driven according to the selected tracking error signal.

Photodetector unit, and optical pickup, optical reproduction apparatus, and optical recording apparatus equipped with the same

An optical pickup is equipped with: an enclosure which contains an optical system including a semiconductor laser and an objective lens; a fixed member; and an elastic supporting member which has conductivity and movably supports the enclosure. A plurality of pairs of driving coils are each positioned in the enclosure so as to be symmetrical with respect to an optical axis of a laser beam. The plurality of pairs of driving coils generate magnetic forces with a plurality of magnets or the like, to drive the enclosure in a focusing direction and a tracking direction.
