A method for molding an end of a long resin molded article that is obtained by extrusion molding and has a design surface and an attachment surface extended in a longitudinal direction of the long resin molded article, and the attachment surface is attached to other parts. An end portion of the long resin molded article is heated so as to soften the end portion of the long resin molded article. The design surface of the heated end portion is pressed so as to stretch resin on a side of the design surface thereby forming an inclined surface on the end portion, whereby the end portion is inclined from the design surface at the end portion to said attachment surface at the end portion along said inclined surface. The attachment surface of the heated end portion is pressed so as to form a cavity on the attachment surface and stretch resin on a side of the attachment surface. In the processing, the resin on the design surface side is stretched to a substantially equal degree to the resin on the attachment surface side.

Method for molding an end of a long resin molded article

With an auxiliary electrode having a shape corresponding to the end of a workpiece attached to an upper electrode of a high frequency heater for high-frequency heating the end of the workpiece extruded, the workpiece is high-frequency heated intensively and uniformly between the auxiliary electrode and the lower electrode. After heating, the end of the workpiece is molded into a predetermined shape by a couple of stamping molds.

Method of fabricating a molding

An air bag device 1 is arranged at a steering wheel W. In the air bag device 1, a large door 12 and a planar horn switch 28 can be arranged at a ceiling 10 of a pad 9 with no disadvantage. The air bag device 1 is arranged with a horn switch 28 and a support plate 33 between an air bag 2 and the pad 9. The switch 28 and a support portion 34 of the support plate 33 are constituted in a planar shape substantially equal to that of the openable door 12 of the ceiling 10 of the pad. The support plate 33 is provided with an attaching leg 39 placed along a side wall 17 of the pad. The support plate 33 is attached to a bag holder 19 by the attaching leg 39. Positioning recesses 36 and positioning projections 14 for engaging with each other are formed at the support portion 34 and the door 12. Further, supporting projections 15 for providing a space of predetermined size between the support portion 34 and an inside surface of the door 12 when brought into contact with each other, are formed at the support portion 34 and the door 12.

Air bag device having horn switch

A window molding for automobiles, which is installed around the periphery of a windshield, including a leg and a head. The head is formed to permit the creation of two different water guide portions extending along the molding, one that will function along the roof line and another along the side edge of the windshield. The side water guide portion prevents water from going from the windshield to the side windows. The roof line water guide portion opens toward the window frame and prevents water from flowing from the roof onto the windshield.

Window molding for automobiles

This invention relates a mold for molding an air bag cover having an upper wall and a rectangular side wall extended from the back surface of the upper wall. The mold comprises first and second split molds, with the second split mold including a main body, an inner core and pushing pins. The inner core forms the inner surface of the side wall. When the mold opens, the inner core is pulled out from the main body before the pushing pins move.

An automobile window molding includes an elongated leg having an embedded core member, an outer head portion having a contact portion, an inner support portion, a seal lip and a position control portion. The molding is suited to position a window in a supporting window frame. The head portion is integrally formed at an upper end of the leg and extends over a portion of the front widow glass. The contact portion is defined by a projection positioned between the head portion and the inner support portion so as to touch the end surface of the front window glass. The inner support portion is formed at a lower end of the leg and is configured to touch an inner surface of the front window glass. The perimeter of the front window glass is held between the head portion and the inner support portion. At least one seal lip is formed on the leg so as to contact a window frame. The position control portion is preferably bent towards the window glass, such that the projection is disposed to be closer to the inner support portion than to the core member.

An automobile decoration molding includes a decoration molding body formed by extrusion-molding a synthetic resin material; and an end part formed by remolding the end portion of the decoration molding body with a die. At least the end portion of the decoration molding body which is to be formed into the end part is formed by using the synthetic resin material kneaded with electrically conductive metallic powder, and the end portion of the decoration molding body which is to be formed into the end part is obliquely cut in such a manner that the resultant cut becomes larger in the direction opposite to a decorative surface of the decoration molding body, and the end portion thus processed is remolded with a die consisting of an upper half die and a lower half die.

Automobile decoration molding

In a two layer extrusion molding, a core part 11 is formed of hard resin material, a crease pattern 11a having a given depth, preferably, a depth in the range of 10 to 20 .mu.m is formed on the surface of the core part 11, and a skin part 12 formed of soft resin material is coated on the surface of the core part 11. Thus, the core part and skin part are effectively prevented from being detached from each other to thereby improving the quality of the molded product.

Two layer extrusion molding

A method of molding a steering wheel of the type having no core in its ring is provided. The mold is formed with a first cavity for forming the ring and a second cavity arranged therein with a slide core for forming cooling members. With the slide core being in a lower position, a polypropylene resin in molten state is injected to fill the first and second cavities. The, resin in the second cavity is cooled and set first because a volume thereof is less than that of the first cavity. After this, the slide core is moved to embed the cooling members into the first cavity so that the inset resin in the central portion of the first cavity may be cooled by the cooling members. Then, the unset resin in the first cavity has its solidification accelerated by contact with the cooling members. The steering wheel is extracted from the mold after the resin in the first cavity has been completely set.

Method for molding steering wheels

A window molding for automobiles has an elongate leg fitted into a gap between a perimeter of a front window glass and a window frame. The molding holds the perimeter of the front window glass between an inner support and an outer support. A head is disposed at one end of the leg, the head having a lateral portion thereof extending over the outer support. A guide connects the lateral portion of the head and the outer support, the guide defining a distance between the lateral portion of the head and the outer support and being deformed according to a respective position along the perimeter of the front window glass. A guide groove is defined at least in part by the guide and opened toward the front window glass at least at side edges of the front window glass. A veil lip is disposed on the lateral portion of the head and forms an obtuse angle therewith at least at the side edges of the front window glass so that the veil lip extends toward the front window glass and defines another part of the guide groove. The guide is deformed at the upper edge of the front window glass to shorten the distance between the lateral portion of the head and the outer support so that the veil lip has a portion thereof bearing on the front window glass along the upper edge of the front window glass.

A method is provided for forming an elongate body having thickness change, such as a car window molding. In the method, a vertical member is extruded into a fixed wall thickness and a fixed outline. A horizontal member is extruded into the same outline as that of the vertical member but has a smaller wall thickness than that of the vertical member. An apparatus is provided to perform the method. The apparatus has a slide core axially reciprocating in a bore of a die so as to change a shape of a forming space.

Manufacturing method for forming an elongate body having a thickness

A manufacturing method and apparatus therefor for forming an elongate body such as a window molding for automobiles in which a thin member H is formed by pressing a thick member V by a press roller 4. The press roller 44 presses the thick member at a definite pressure in order to join an outer support 15 and a head 12V of the window molding by a specified length according to a longitudinal position. At the same time, a moving range for pressing of the press roller 44 is set within a fixed range.

A steering wheel unit is provided which includes an air bag module and a steering wheel having a metal core, and in which the rigidity of the posterior spoke portions is not reinforced because the module is fastened to the anterior spoke portions of the core. The steering wheel unit W according to the present invention includes a steering wheel 1 having three or more spokes S, and an air bag module M fastened to the fastening parts 8 of the right and left anterior spoke portions 3s(f) of the core and disposed over the boss B of the wheel.

Steering wheel unit including air bag module

A door lower molding that has a main body molded of a synthetic resin by extrusion. The main body is fixed along a lower end of a door of a vehicle. The main body has a seal lip extended thereon, which closely contacts a rocker molding of the vehicle body when the door is closed. A core made of a synthetic resin is embedded in the main body. The seal lip may be covered on its outer side with a skin which has a flaw resistance characteristic and on its inner side with a sealing layer including silicone to prevent freeze-sticking to the vehicle body.

Door lower molding

A pad for an air bag device including an upper wall portion which has an openable portion which, upon expansion of the air bag, is separated from a side wall portion of the pad, leaving a hinge portion, and is angularly movable about that pivot axis so as to be openable. The openable portion is constituted by a net insert of a net-like configuration and a covering layer of a soft material covering the net insert. The net insert has a slit which is formed in one edge portion thereof remote from the hinge portion and extends toward the hinge portion. With this construction, even if part of the pad is curved, the net insert can be set in a corresponding injection mold without generating wrinkles in the net insert, and the molding can be performed in such a manner that the openable portion has a good appearance.
