Fuel pump ()comprises a casing () and an impeller (). A group of concavities () are formed in an upper or a lower face of the impeller. A groove () communicating a discharge hole () is formed in a inner face of the casing. The groove has an opening portion () that directly communicates with the discharge hole. The opening portion is shaped so as to extend in the rotation direction of the impeller, within a span extending from a position corresponding to substantially the central position of the concavities of the impeller, in the radial direction thereof, to a position corresponding to substantially the outer peripheral edge of the concavities of the impeller. The opening portion is be formed so as to extend in the rotation direction of the impeller beyond the position () where the inner peripheral edge connects therewith.

Fuel pump

Impeller is rotatably disposed within a pump housing that includes pump cover 5 and pump body . Inlet port , body groove , partition and blocking wall are formed in the pump body . The body groove defines a first pump channel , and the blocking wall defines a enlarged channel portion . Outlet port , cover groove and partition are formed in the pump cover . The cover groove defines a second pump channel . Distance {circle around (1)} between a terminal end of the first pump channel and a terminal end of the outlet port , distance {circle around (2)} between a starting end of the enlarged channel portion and a starting end of the second pump channel , length {circle around (3)} of the partition and length {circle around (4)} of the partition each are chosen to be optimum values such that the amount of fluid that is discharged through the outlet port and the amount of fluid that flows in though the inlet port increase.

Fluid pumps

A metallic ring molded by punching a copper plate having hooks , etc., and a carbon member are brazed to each other by a brazing material having a higher melting point than the temperature for connecting a coil to conductive members , that is, a brazing material containing, for example, nickel and chromium. Next, resin is filled up inside the metallic ring and carbon member to form a resin substrate . Next, slits are formed at the metallic ring and the carbon member in the radial direction, so that generally fan-shaped segments insulated from each other and conductive members are formed. Next, a coil is connected to hooks of the conductive members by soldering, welding, etc.

Commutateur of improved segment joinability

An impeller has a plurality of blade grooves formed along a perimeter thereof. A pump casing has an inlet port , a discharge port , a first circumferential groove contiguous with the inlet port , a second circumferential groove contiguous with the discharge port and a partition between a groove inlet portion and the discharge port . An opening end face of the discharge port on the side of the pump casing that faces the impeller has a tapered portion and a damping portion . The tapered portion has an opening width W that gradually decreases along the direction of rotation of the impeller . The damping portion has an opening width that is substantially constant along the direction of rotation of the impeller. In one embodiment, a corner portion, which is defined by wall surfaces defining the tapered portion and the damping portion of the discharge port , respectively, and a lower surface of the pump casing , is chamfered.

Regenerative type pumps

Vanes (,) are provided on the outer peripheries of both surfaces of an impeller in a circumferential direction, and vane grooves (,) are provided between the vanes. The vane grooves are formed to be curvilinear as viewed from a radial cross section. Also, connections of the vane grooves (,) with end surfaces (,) of the vanes are formed to be curvilinear as viewed from a circumferential cross section, and portions which extend from a forward side of a direction of rotation toward the connections are formed to be curvilinear. Communication holes (,) are formed forwardly or rearwardly of the vane grooves in the direction of rotation to allow communication between the vane grooves on both surfaces. An opening of the vane grooves is formed into various shapes, for example, straight in a radial direction, curved in the direction of rotation, or inclined in the direction of rotation.

Impeller of motor-driven fuel pump

In a fuel pump unit including a substantially disc-like rotating impeller, a pump casing for accommodating the impeller, the pump casing having a pressurizing passage surrounding an outer peripheral edge of the impeller and extending along the outer peripheral edge from its upstream end to downstream end, an inlet hole communicating with the upstream end of the pressurizing passage, an outlet hole communicating with the downstream end of the pressurizing passage, and a partition wall formed at a range circumpherentially upstream of the upstream end and downstream of the downstream end of the pressurizing passage, the improvement comprises a cutout slot formed at an end of the partition wall facing the outlet hole, the width of the cutout slot in an axial direction being gradually reduced as the cutout slot extends from the end of the partition wall in a circumferentially downstream direction.

Low noise fuel pump unit

A motor-driven fuel pump including a cylindrical pump casing having top and bottom ends; a pump section; a motor section has a motor shaft, an armature and a commutator. A spring loaded brush has one end contacting the cummutator and a second end connected to a choke coil. A terminal plate includes one end connected to an external power supply and the other end connected to the choke coil. A cover assembly for the pump casing provides a cover body with an opening holding a bearing, and appropriate recesses for accommodating the brush, spring, and choke coil components. A valve opening through which fuel is discharged from the pump section is provided. Simplification of the steps of assembling the various parts into the cover body is accomplished.
