An illumination device includes a light source unit and a light guide plate configured to guide light coming from the light source unit. The light guide plate includes an incidence surface, main emission surfaces from which the light incident on the incidence surface is emitted, and an end emission surface which is opposed to the incidence surface and from which the light is emitted. At least one of the main emission surfaces has a stepped surface which is formed such that the thickness of the light guide plate becomes thinner at a side of the end emission surface than at a side of the incidence surface. The stepped surface is configured to reflect the light in a direction opposite to a light guide direction extending from the incidence surface toward the end emission surface and inclined with respect to the light guide direction.

Illumination device with at least one main emission surface having a stepped surface configured to reflect light in multiple directions

An illumination device includes a light source configured to emit laser light; and a wavelength conversion part configured to convert a wavelength of the laser light emitted from the light source and to irradiate illumination light. The wavelength conversion part includes a conversion region provided with a phosphor which converts the wavelength of the laser light and emits the wavelength-converted laser light, and a non-conversion region not provided with the phosphor and configured to transmit the laser light irradiated from the light source. The non-conversion region is formed in a pinhole shape with respect to the conversion region.

Illumination device

An illumination device includes a light source configured to emit laser light, a transmission part configured to transmit the laser light emitted from the light source, and a lighting appliance configured to convert a wavelength of the laser light transmitted through the transmission part and to emit illumination light. The transmission part includes a rail-shaped guide part extending in a linear shape along a transmission direction of the laser light. The lighting appliance is configured to be mounted in an arbitrary position of the guide part.

An illumination device includes a light source, a transmission part and a lighting appliance. The light source is configured to emit a laser light. The transmission part is configured to transmit the laser light emitted from the light source through an optical fiber. The lighting appliance is configured to convert a wavelength of the laser light transmitted through the transmission part and emit an illumination light. The transmission part includes a guide part having a rail-shape and extending along a transmission direction of the laser light. The lighting appliance is further configured to be mounted in an arbitrary position of the guide part.

An optical fiber holding structure includes a light-transmitting tube configured to cover a surface-light-emitting optical fiber and a fixture configured to fix the tube to a building material. The tube is made of a material having such rigidity that the tube is not bent even when the tube is horizontally fixed by the fixture. The tube has a notch through which the optical fiber is introduced into the tube. The fixture includes an engaging portion, a mounting portion and a leg portion. The engaging portion is inserted into the tube through the notch to engage with an inner circumference of the tube. The mounting portion is mounted to the building material. The leg portion is configured to interconnect the engaging portion and the mounting portion with a predetermined gap left therebetween.

Optical fiber holding structure

A light moduleincludes a planar light emitting device, a wiring board, and an optical sheet. The wiring boardhas a holefor accommodating the planar light emitting device. The optical sheetholds the planar light emitting deviceand the wiring boardsuch that the planar light emitting deviceaccommodated in the holeof the wiring boardand the wiring boardare flush with each other on the light emitting surface side of the light module. The optical sheetholds the planar light emitting deviceand the wiring board, and prevents dust and moisture from entering the inside the light module. This eliminates the necessity for the light moduleto include a casing, packing, and the like. Therefore, the thickness of the module can be reduced.

Light module

A light emitting module has a flat light emitting panel including a transparent substrate and a light emitting part formed on the substrate. The flat light panel includes: electrode pads which are formed on the substrate outward of the light emitting part and are electrically connected to the light emitting part; and a transparent or light reflective sealing member which is provided to cover the electrode pad.

Light emitting module and illumination apparatus

A light emitting module includes an organic EL light emitting element and a support body supporting the organic EL light emitting element. The support body is attached to the organic EL light emitting element at the side of the non-light emitting surface of the light emitting module to cover one surface of the organic EL light emitting element. The organic EL light emitting element includes power feeding electrodes. The support body includes openings formed in a corresponding relationship with the power feeding electrodes. The power feeding electrodes exposed on the non-light emitting side of the support body through the openings. The support body includes power feeding terminals. The power feeding terminals partially exposed on the non-light emitting side of the support body. The power feeding terminals electrically connected to the power feeding electrodes by electric connection members extending via the non-light emitting side and the openings of the support body.

Light emitting module

A discharge lamp lighting device includes: a DC power source; an inverter for inverting the DC power at a predetermined inversion time interval to supply a square wave AC power to a discharge lamp; and a controller for controlling the output power. The controller performs a synchronous operation and controls the DC power source such that DC power outputted during a period other than the output temporarily increasing period in a power increasing period is greater than the DC output power outputted during the period other than the output temporarily increasing period in a rated power period. Further, the controller controls the DC power source such that at least one of an increment of the output power for the output temporarily increasing period and a length of the output temporarily increasing period is less in at least a part of the output increasing period than in the rated power period.

Discharge lamp lighting device, headlight device and vehicle having the same

An arc tube is provided for use in a high intensity discharge lamp. The arc tube is generally comprised of an elongated outer envelope defining two opposed ends and a cavity therebetween; an electrode sleeve protruding outwardly from each end of the outer envelope, such that each electrode sleeve has a passageway; and an electrical feedthrough member inserted into the passageway of the electrode sleeve, where the feedthrough member includes an inner rod that extends into the cavity of the arc tube and a ceramic sleeve encircling a portion of the inner rod disposed within the passageway. A sealing compound is disposed at an outwardly facing end of the passageway for sealing the feedthrough member to the electrode sleeve, such that the sealing compound extends into the passageway of the electrode sleeve but is spatially separated from the ceramic sleeve.

High intensity discharge lamp having an improved electrode arrangement

A lamp ballast for operating a high intensity discharge lamp includes an electronic ballast circuit to supply an operating voltage to the discharge lamp, and an igniter circuit to supply starting pulses to the discharge lamp in a cold state and to supply hot restrike pulses to the discharge lamp when the discharge lamp is in a hot state following turn-off. The hot restrike pulses are sufficient to maintain ionization in the discharge lamp but do not cause the discharge lamp to generate substantial light output.

Methods and circuits for instant hot restart of high intensity discharge lamps

An arc discharge metal halide lamp for use in selected lighting fixtures comprising a discharge chamber having light permeable walls of a selected shape including therein a pair of end region wall portions through each of which a corresponding one of a pair of electrodes are supported separated from one another by a separation length. The ratio of the separation length to the effective operation inner diameter of the chamber is greater than two. The lengths of the wall sides between the end wall portions is greater than the effective operation inner diameter. The end wall portions have inner surfaces of constant or smaller varying radii of curvature and they are separated from the interior ends of the electrodes by more than one millimeter. The discharge chamber can be constructed of polycrystalline alumina and contain metal halides.

High efficacy metal halide lamp with configured discharge chamber

An arc discharge metal halide lamp having a discharge chamber having visible light permeable walls bounding a discharge region supported electrodes in a discharge region spaced apart by a distance Lwith an average interior diameter equal to D so they have a selected ratio. Ionizable materials are provided in this chamber involving a noble gas, one or more halides, and mercury in an amount sufficiently small so as to result in a relatively low maximum voltage drop between the electrodes during lamp operation.

High efficacy lamp in a configured chamber

An electrodeless low pressure discharge lamp comprises an envelope made from a straight tube and a reentry cavity sealed to one of tube's ends. The cavity has several hollow ferrite cores separated from each other with a few mm distance. Each ferrite core has an induction coil of few turns wound around the core. Each cavity has a cooling copper tube or rod located inside the ferrite core that removes heat from the cores and dumps the heat into a heat sink welded to the cooling tube/rod thereby keep the temperature of the ferrite cores below their Curie point. Each induction coil is electrically connected to the matching network while all matching networks are connected in parallel to the high frequency power source (driver). Inductively coupled plasmas generated in the envelope by several core/coil assemblies produce axially uniform UV and visible radiation.
