A vehicle control apparatus includes one or more approach sensors, one or more collision detection sensors, an approach determination portion, a collision determination portion, and a braking determination portion. The approach determination portion determines whether a vehicle and an object are approached based on an output signal of one of the approach sensors, and generates a first information. The collision determination portion determines whether the vehicle collides with the object based on an output signal of at least one of the collision detection sensors, and generates a second information. The braking determination portion determines whether the vehicle is braked based on the first information and the second information.

Vehicle control apparatus

An accident report system for a vehicle includes an accident detection section to detect an accident; an information collection section to collect information; and an information report section to report the collected information to an external agency when the accident is detected. The information collection section differentiates the collected information before and after the detection of the accident such that (i) an accident cause data is collected before the detection of the accident to confirm an exterior outside of the vehicle and (ii) an accident damage data is collected after the detection of the accident to confirm an interior inside of the vehicle. The collection and report of the accident cause data and accident damage data permits the external agency to recognize states of the vehicle or states of an occupant of the vehicle before and after the detection of the accident.

Accident reporting system for vehicles

A first-collision predicting part determines if a possibility of a first collision, which happens between a human and a vehicle, is higher than a predetermined threshold. A first-collision-situation determining part determines a position of a head of the human and a relative speed of the head relative to the vehicle at a time of the first collision, when the first-collision predicting part determines the possibility of the first collision is higher than the predetermined threshold. A second-collision-situation estimating part estimates a collision situation of the head in a second collision, based on a determining result of the first-collision-situation determining part. An injury-degree predicting part predicts a degree of injury of the head based on an estimation result of the second-collision-situation estimating part.

Impact-injury predicting system

The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for estimating level of bodily injury of occupants at an accident of a vehicle. The apparatus has an occupancy detecting block which determines occupied seat. The apparatus has a deformation estimating block which estimates a deformation amount which is reduction of space around the seat. The apparatus has a bodily injury estimating block which estimates bodily injury level based on the occupied seat and estimated deformation amount.

A vehicle safety control system that executes a safety stop control for safely stopping a vehicle after a vehicle collision is detected is provided. Vehicle safety control system

A system for detecting a run-over accident has sensors and a controller. The sensors provide collision detectors which is arranged on at least one of front and rear of a vehicle. The controller provides a collision determining module which determines an existence of a collision based on a detection result of the collision detector. The sensors provide a run-up detector which detects that a tire of the vehicle runs up something. The controller provides a run-up determining module which determines an existence of a run-up based on a detection result of the run-up detector. The controller provides a run-over determining module which determines an existence of a run-over accident when the run-up determining module determines an existence of a run-up within a predetermined first time period from the collision determining module determines an existence of a collision.

System for detecting run over accident

A vehicle accident history recorder is provided. The vehicle accident history recorder comprises: a collision detection sensor for detecting a collision of a vehicle; a collision determination section for determining an occurrence of the collision based on a detection result of the collision detection sensor; a yaw rate sensor for detecting a yaw rate of the vehicle; a damaged portion determination section for determining a damaged portion of the vehicle in the collision based on the detection result of the collision detection sensor and a detection result of the yaw rate sensor when the collision determination section determines the occurrence of the collision; and a storage device for storing a determination result of the damaged portion determination section in a readable form.

Vehicle accident history recorder

A collision detecting system for a vehicle has a pressure detecting member for detecting a pressure in a substantially closed space which is arranged at a periphery portion of the vehicle, and a vibration detecting member for detecting a vibration of the vehicle. The pressure in the space is calculated for a detection of a vehicle collision, based on pressure signals detected by the pressure detecting member and vibration signals detected by the vibration detecting member. Therefore, the influence of the vehicle vibration on the detection of the pressure in the space can be restricted, thus improving the detection of the vehicle collision.

Collision detecting system

A passenger-protecting system includes a pressure sensor for detecting a pressure in an inner space of a door and a side airbag installed in the door. The pressure in the inner space increases when a side collision occurs. When the pressure in the inner space of the door exceeds a predetermined threshold level, the side airbag is inflated to protect a passenger from a side collision. There are certain situations where the operation of the side airbag is not necessary even if the pressure in the inner space of the door exceeds the threshold level. Such situations include: when the door is abruptly closed and a front airbag is inflated to protect a passenger from a frontal collision. According to the present invention, unnecessary operations of the side airbag are effectively avoided.

Passenger-protecting system for automotive vehicle

A collision detection system for a vehicle is provided with multiple hollow members which are arranged at a periphery portion of the vehicle and define therein substantially closed spaces, at least one housing defining therein a substantially closed space, multiple transferring members for respectively communicating the spaces in the hollow members with the space in the housing, at least one detection unit which is arranged in the housing to detect a status of air in the housing, and a control unit. The control unit determines whether or not there occurs a collision of the vehicle based on detection signals from the detection unit.

Collision detection system

An occupant sensing electrode is embedded in a seat. An empty seat capacitance reducing electrode is placed between the occupant sensing electrode and a seat frame of the seat in an opposed relationship to the occupant sensing electrode. A dielectric base film may be interposed between the occupant sensing electrode and the empty seat capacitance reducing electrode. The occupant sensing electrode may include a plurality of electrode portions. The electrode portions may include high potential electrode portions and low potential electrode portions.

A pressure sensor includes a pressure detecting element for detecting a pressure, a circuit board having an electrical circuit to be connected to the pressure detecting element, and a housing having a housing member and a cover. A capacitance type sensor installed in a vehicle includes the first electrode, the second electrode, and the third electrode. The first electrode is arranged inside a seating portion of a seat or a backrest portion of the seat, or both. The second electrode is arranged adjacent to the first electrode inside at least one of the seating portion and the backrest portion of the seat, whatever the first electrode is arranged. The second electrode forms an electric field together with the first electrode between them in a wetness determination mode in which a wet condition of the seat is determined. The third electrode forms an electric field together with the first and the second electrode between them in an occupant determination mode in which an occupant in the seat is determined.

Capacitance type sensor and occupant detection system having the same

An occupant detecting system includes a temperature sensor that sequentially detects temperatures at a fixed position, a plurality of weight sensors disposed at predetermined positions of a seat to respectively provide weight signals, an occupant ECU. The ECU estimates temperatures of the weight sensors based on the temperatures sequentially detected by the temperature sensor and temperature characteristic data of the weight sensors relative to temperatures detected by the temperature sensor and corrects the weight signals based on the estimated temperatures.
