A secondary battery configured so as to comprise: a plurality of positive electrodes each including a positive electrode core and a positive electrode active substance disposed on the positive electrode core; a plurality of negative electrodes each including a negative electrode core and a negative electrode active substance disposed upon the negative electrode core; at least one separator; and an adhesive coated so as to have a substantially constant area density on at least one side surface in the thickness direction of the separator. The secondary battery includes a laminated section in which the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes are alternately stacked, having the separator therebetween. The area of adhered sections adhered by the adhesive is greater on the outside in the lamination direction of the laminated section than on the inside in the lamination direction.

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a positive electrode collector electrically connected to a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode collector electrically connected to a negative electrode plate. At least one of the collectors includes a first-side base portion disposed near the sealing plate, and a first-side lead portion connected to one end portion of the first-side base portion and extending towards an electrode body. The first-side lead portion includes a first-side power generating element joining portion joined to a lateral side of the electrode body, and a first-side inclined portion inclined with respect to a thickness direction of the electrode body from the first-side power generating element joining portion towards an outer side in the thickness direction. A total weight of the electrode body and nonaqueous electrolyte contained in the electrode body ranges from 200 g or more to 500 g or less.

Nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery

A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a pressure-sensitive current shut-off mechanism, wherein a positive electrode core body exposed portion is disposed at one end portion of a flat rolled electrode assembly, a negative electrode core body exposed portion is disposed at the other end portion, lithium carbonate is contained in a positive electrode mix layer, and a protective layer is disposed along the border with the positive electrode mix layer at the position opposite to a separator on the positive electrode core body exposed portion.

Disclosed is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell excellent in capacity retention rate and I-V characteristics after repeated cycles. The secondary cell contains a negative electrode active material containing scaly graphite particles and coated graphite particles. The coated graphite particles contain graphite particles and a coating layer coating the surfaces of the graphite particles. The coating layer contains amorphous carbon particles and an amorphous carbon layer. It is preferable that the negative electrode active material contain 1 to 6% by mass of the scaly graphite particles and that the graphite particles, the amorphous carbon particles, and the amorphous carbon layer be in a mass ratio of 100:&#x3b1;:&#x3b2; where 1&#x2266;&#x3b1;&#x2266;10, 1&#x2266;&#x3b2;&#x2266;10, and &#x3b1;&#x2266;1.34&#x3b2;.

Non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell containing negative active material including scaly graphite particles and graphite particles coated with amorphous carbon particles and amorphous carbon layer and method of manufacturing the same

A prismatic nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a flat winding electrode assembly formed by winding an elongated positive and negative electrodes with an elongated separator interposed therebetween, and an outer body storing the flat winding electrode assembly and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode substrate exposed portion formed along a longitudinal direction. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode substrate exposed portion formed along a longitudinal direction. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains at least one of a lithium salt having an oxalate complex as an anion and lithium difluorophosphate (LiPFO) at the time of making the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. The flat winding electrode assembly has eight or more layers of a winding portion formed only of the separator in its central portion. This battery can allow a nonaqueous electrolyte having a high viscosity to easily penetrate the inside of a flat winding electrode assembly.

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which a lithium transition metal complex oxide containing at least Ni and Mn as transition metals and having a layered structure is used as a positive active material, the lithium transition metal complex oxide containing at least Ni and Mn as transition metals and having a layered structure further containing zirconium.

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which has a positive electrode containing lithium cobalt oxide as a positive active material, a negative electrode containing a graphite material and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution containing ethylene carbonate as a solvent and which is charged with an end-of-charge voltage of at least 4.3 V. Characteristically, the battery uses, as the positive active material, lithium cobalt oxide obtained by firing a mixture of a lithium salt, tricobalt tetraoxide (CoO) and a zirconium compound and having particle surfaces onto which the zirconium compound adheres.

Capacity degradation due to charge/discharge cycles is suppressed in either a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell provided with a positive electrode including, as a positive electrode active material, a lithium-transition metal complex oxide having a layered structure and containing at least Ni and Mn as transition metals, and a negative electrode containing a carbon material as a negative electrode active material and having a higher initial charge-discharge efficiency than that of the positive electrode, or an assembled battery having a plurality of cells each of which is the secondary cell. A control circuit incorporated in the secondary cell or the assembled battery, or in an apparatus using the secondary cell or the assembled battery, monitors the voltage of the secondary cell or each of the cells in the assembled battery so that the end-of-discharge voltage of each cell is 2.9 V or higher.

A positive electrode active material quality judgment method that can easily and accurately judge the quality of a positive electrode active material used in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell without having to complete the positive electrode. Method for judging quality of lithium nickel composite oxide and positive electrode using lithium nickel composite oxide

The storage characteristics in a charged state are improved in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery containing a lithium cobalt oxide as a positive electrode active material. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode containing a positive electrode active material; a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material other than metallic lithium; and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material contains a lithium cobalt oxide as its main component. The non-aqueous electrolyte contains 0.1 to 10 volume % of a compound having an ether group. The positive electrode active material and the negative electrode active material are contained so that the charge capacity ratio of the negative electrode to the positive electrode is from 1.0 to 1.2 when the battery is charged until the potential of the positive electrode reaches 4.4 to 4.5 V (vs. Li/Li)

Non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having positive electrode with high potential

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode containing a positive active material, a negative electrode containing a negative active material and a nonaqueous electrolyte. Characteristically, the positive active material comprises a mixture of a lithium transition metal complex oxide A obtained by incorporating at least Zr and Mg into LiCoOand a lithium transition metal complex oxide B having a layered structure and containing at least Ni and Mn as the transition metal.
