A recording apparatus includes: a recording head; a temperature detection unit; a first heating element configured to maintain a temperature of the recording head and a second heating element configured to discharge the ink; an acquisition unit configured to acquire at a plurality of predetermined intervals the temperature detected by the temperature detection unit; a first averaging unit configured to obtain an average temperature based on the temperatures acquired by the acquisition unit in a first period; a first drive unit configured to drive the first heating element based on the average temperature obtained by the first averaging unit; a second averaging unit configured to obtain an average temperature based on the temperatures acquired by the acquisition unit in a second period and longer than the first period; and a second drive unit configured to drive the second heating element based on the average temperature obtained by the second averaging unit.

Ink-jet recording apparatus

This invention is directed to provide a printing apparatus and a printing control method capable of more accurately obtaining a carriage position and executing more precise printing. The printing apparatus includes a scale, having slits at predetermined intervals, provided along the carriage scanning direction, and an encoder provided on a carriage to read the slits and measure the carriage position in the scanning direction as the carriage moves. In the printing apparatus, based on at least a time interval between the measurement time of a slit currently detected by the encoder and the measurement time of a slit immediately before the slit, a time up to at least one point between the currently detected slit and the next slit is predicted. Control is performed to cause a printhead mounted on the carriage to execute printing at the at least one predicted point between the continuous slits.

To control movement of a member to be driven by using a scale having a plurality of indices at a predetermined interval, and a sensor which is attached to the member to be driven along the scale and detects the indices, a time until the next index is detected is predicted on the basis of the output waveform of the sensor. Then, a signal concerning the current position of the member is generated on the basis of the predicted time. The current position of the member can be controlled with high precision even during acceleration/deceleration.

In a video camera capable of regulating the white balance by relative regulation of the gains of plural color signals obtained from the light coming from an object, a control signal for controlling the white balance regulating operation is formed according to color temperature information, and the formation of the control signal is suspended according to the result of discrimination whether the control signal is within a predetermined range, whereby the time required for regulating operation is shortened. Also in case the object color is identified to contain a deviation to a particular color, the control signal is replaced by another value. In this manner the white balance control utilizing the image signal is enabled ever under a special light source for a special object.
