A glass antenna provided on vehicle side glass has a power feeding portion disposed at side portion of the side glass, a main element connected to the power feeding portion and a square bracket-shaped element whose one end is connected to some midpoint of the main element. When frequency band of FM broadcast wave received by the antenna is divided into two frequency bands with respect to its center frequency, wavelength of center frequency of frequency band of low frequency is &#x3bb;, and wavelength of center frequency of frequency band of high frequency. Also wavelength shortening coefficient of the side glass is &#x3b1;. In this condition, either one of length of the main element or length from the power feeding portion up to an opening end of the square bracket-shaped element is set to &#x3b1;&#xb7;&#x3bb;&#xb7;&#xbe;, and the other is set to &#x3b1;&#xb7;&#x3bb;'&#xb7;&#xbe;.

Glass antenna for vehicle

An automotive window antenna includes: an FM radio main antenna which includes two horizontal strips, and a vertical strip, and which is connected with a main feed point provided on a side of a longitudinal side of the window glass through a strip extending inwardly between the horizontal strips from one end portion or a midpoint portion of one of the horizontal strips; and an FM radio sub antenna which includes one horizontal strip, and which is provided on a side opposite to the feed point, at a substantially central position between the two horizontal strips of the FM radio main antenna so as not to achieve a capacitive coupling with the two horizontal strips, the FM radio main antenna and the FM radio sub antenna being provided in the blank space to achieve a diversity reception, and being connected to a tuner.

Automotive window antenna

An automotive glass antenna which is an FM radio broadcast wave receiving antenna provided in blank spaces below or lateral sides of a defogger of a window glass provided in a rear door of a hatchback type of an automobile, the automotive glass antenna including: a first auxiliary element including at least a first auxiliary horizontal strip which branches from a lower end of a bus bar of the defogger, or from a lowermost horizontal heater strip, and which extends along the lowermost heater strip; a second auxiliary element including at least a second auxiliary vertical strip which extends from an upper end of each bus bar through an extension line, and which is apart from the bus bar in an outward direction; a horizontal element which extends in a substantially horizontal direction from a feed point provided near a lower portion of the bus bar of the defogger, and which is adjacent to the first auxiliary horizontal strip to achieve a capacitive coupling; and a vertical element which extends from the feed point along an outside of the bus bar, and which is adjacent to the bus bar to achieve the capacitive coupling.

Automotive glass antenna

A window glass of a vehicle having a roof antenna mounted on an upper rear portion of a roof of the vehicle, has a defogger formed, on the rear window glass, by a plurality of horizontal heating lines which are connected with each other at the respective both ends by busbars; a noise shield pattern provided at a head space of the defogger on the rear window glass and having at least three horizontal lines and at least one vertical line that cross each other; and at least three connecting lines that connect the noise shield pattern and the defogger. The noise shield pattern is formed in a symmetrical shape, and the connecting lines connect the noise shield pattern and the defogger symmetrically at center position and symmetrical positions about the center position in right-and-left direction of the noise shield pattern and the defogger.

Window glass for vehicle

A second antenna is provided to a vehicle rear window glass in order to prevent a fall or dip of the gain of the antenna system in a particular direction or directions, thereby improving the directivity characteristic and increasing the gain. The second antenna consists of a feed point and a pair of first and second elements connected to the feed point. The first element has, in an area of the space above a first antenna or in a space defined between the upper and lower ends of a first antenna, at least one horizontal conductive strip. In one embodiment, in which the feed point is arranged in a marginal area of the space under the defogging heater element, the first element further has a vertical conductive strip arranged in an area of the space between the heater element and a lateral edge of the window glass. The second element is arranged in an area of the space under the defogging heater element and made up of a conductive strip assembly of various shapes such as -shape, a rectangular loop or loops, or a T-shape. The second element is connected to a bus bar or a heating strip of the defogging heater element in order to further increase the gain of the antenna system in all directions.

Automotive window glass antenna

An antenna is attached to a rear window glass of an automobile and arranged in a space between a defogging heater element and a lower edge of the window glass. According to an aspect of the present invention, the antenna comprises a plurality of horizontal conductive strips having the length of 0.02.lambda..multidot.f.sup.1/2 (1.+-.0.2), adjacent two of which are connected at opposite ends so as to constitute a rectangular loop. The number of the horizontal conductive strips is in the range of 2 to 4. According to another aspect of the present invention, the antenna comprises a main element having two horizontal conductive strips and a vertical strip connecting the horizontal strips at one ends located nearer to a widthwise center of the space, and an auxiliary element having a conductive strip made up of a vertical portion extending upward from upper one of the horizontal conductive strips of the main element to have an upper end and a horizontal portion extending between the upper end of the vertical portion and a feed point located at a widthwise marginal area of the space.

A known first antenna is arranged in a space of a rear window glass above a defogging heater element and constituted by horizontal and vertical conductive strips. In accordance with the present invention, a second antenna is provided which consists of a feed point and a pair of first and second elements connected to the feed point and arranged in a space of the window glass around the heater element. The first element has a vertical conductive strip arranged in an area of the space between the heater element and a lateral edge of the window glass. The first element further has in an area of the space above the first antenna or in a space defined between the upper and lower ends of the first antenna, at least one horizontal conductive strip or a T-shaped or inverted T-shaped conductive strip assembly having a longer horizontal strip portion and a shorter vertical strip portion, or at least two horizontal conductive strips connected at opposite ends by vertical conductive strips to constitute a rectangular loop, or at least two horizontal conductive strips connected at one ends by a vertical conductive strip to constitute a  -shape. The second element is arranged in an area of the space under the heater element and consists of a horizontal conductive strip and a vertical conductive strip.

The invention relates to an antenna on a vehicle rear window glass for the reception of FM radio broadcasting and TV broadcasting in both the VHF and UHF bands. The window glass is provided with defogging heater strips, and the antenna uses a space left above the heater strips. The antenna is constructed of a plurality of linear elements comprising (A) a combination of two primary elements, which are spaced from each other in the direction widthwise of the window glass and each of which has two parallel horizontal parts and at least one relatively short vertical part connecting the two horizontal parts at their ends, and a linear conductor connecting the two primary elements to each other, (B) a secondary element having a vertical part extending upward from a selected part of the combination (A) and a horizontal part extending from the upper end of the vertical part toward a side edge of the window glass and (C) a reactance element which extends downward from the extended end of the horizontal part of the secondary element (B) and makes at least two turns so as to have at least one L-shaped portion in which one leg part is parallel to another part of the reactance element. At the extended end of the reactance element (C) the antenna is connected to a feed point which is located near the side edge of the window glass.
