An electric power steering device includes a restricting portion that is provided on at least one of surfaces of a housing and a worm wheel, the surfaces facing each other. The restricting portion is configured to restrict movement of the worm wheel to maintain a meshing relationship between a worm and the worm wheel that allows torque transmission between the worm and the worm wheel, when fixing of the worm wheel to an output shaft of a power assist actuator in an axial direction of the output shaft is released and the worm wheel is moved in the axial direction.

Electric power steering device

An electric power steering apparatus comprises a transmission mechanism having a drive gear and a driven gear. One end of the drive gear is supported by a bearing hole in a housing through a bearing and a curved plate spring. The curved plate spring comprises a main body surrounding the bearing and at least one crank-shaped elastic tongue supported by at least one of ends of the main body. A recess formed on an inner peripheral surface of the bearing hole has a bottom and a pair of inner wall surfaces opposed to each other in the circumferential direction of the bearing hole. A relief portion for avoiding contact with a connection portion of the elastic tongue is formed between at least one of the inner wall surfaces and the inner peripheral surface of the bearing hole. A boundary between the relief portion and the inner peripheral surface of the bearing hole is engaged with the main body of the curved plate spring, to restrict the movement of the main body in the circumferential direction.

Electric power steering apparatus

An electric power steering device () is provided which transmits output rotation of an electric motor for generating a steering assist force () to a steering mechanism () via a driving gear () and a driven gear (). A housing () has a support hole () for supporting one end portion () of a shaft () co-rotatable with the driving gear () via a bearing () in such a manner as to permit the one end portion () to be offset toward the driven gear () radially of the driving gear (). A biasing member () which biases the driving gear () toward the driven gear () includes an arcuate main portion () fitted around an outer peripheral surface () of an outer ring () of the bearing () and opposed to an inner peripheral surface () of the support hole (). A pair of movement restriction portions () which restrict circumferential movement of the main portion () are respectively provided at a pair of arc ends () of the main portion (). A resilient tongue () which biases the driving gear () toward the driven gear () via the bearing () is provided only on one of the movement restriction portions ().

An electric power steering apparatus includes a worm interlockedly connected to an output shaft of an electric motor, a first and a second bearing each supporting the respective side of the worm in a housing, and a gear wheel meshed with the worm. The housing includes a fitting bore in which the first bearing supporting a side of the worm closer to the electric motor is to be fitted, and an annular retaining portion located at a position corresponding to the second bearing and eccentrically oriented with respect to the center (axial center) of the fitting bore in a direction that shortens a distance L between the center of rotation of the worm and that of the gear wheel, and the annular retaining portion retains a coil spring around an outer circumference of the second bearing.
