A method performed by an apparatus is provided. The apparatus extracts a virtual machine before starting operation from among virtual machines within a range of influence of a failure upon detection of the failure. With reference to a storage unit storing history information concerning operation of a virtual machine, the apparatus generates first information corresponding to time intervals of operation start time of the extracted virtual machine, second information corresponding to movement required time required to move the extracted virtual machine out of the range of influence of the failure, and third information corresponding to recovery required time required for recovery of the failure detected to have occurred. The apparatus determines whether to move the extracted virtual machine out of the range of influence of the failure, based on the generated first, second, and third information.

Effective selection of a virtual machine to be moved outside influence range of a failure

An apparatus, for an existing schedule indicating time slots during which virtual-machines are to be migrated between physical-machines, acquires change information indicating a change of first time slots during which first virtual-machines are to be migrated, and generates constraint information including a group of constraints regarding the change information and second time slots during which second virtual-machines other than the first virtual-machines are to be migrated. The apparatus generates semi-constraint information items each generated by excluding, from the constraint information, an exclusion target constraint that is selected in turn from among the group of constraints, and generates, for each semi-constraint information item, a rescheduling result by rescheduling migrations of the virtual-machines. The apparatus outputs a first rescheduling result that is one of the generated rescheduling results which reduces a difference between a scheduled migration time indicated by the first rescheduling result and scheduled migration times of the second virtual-machines.

Rescheduling of virtual machine migrations with less impact on an existing migration schedule

An apparatus obtains, from a first device, an identifier of a higher-order service for which occurrence of an abnormality or a possibility of being affected by an abnormality has been detected, where the first device searches for a range of effects of failure within a higher-order service layer that provides a higher-order service using a service provided in an object-service layer within a cloud service providing a layered structure of services. The apparatus determines a service within the object-service layer, which is reachable by tracing relations among services from the detected higher-order service, to be an in-effect-range service for which there is a possibility of being affected by an abnormality, and transmits the identifier of the in-effect-range service to a second device that searches for a range of effects of failure at a lower-order service layer that provides a lower-order service used to provide a service within the object-service layer.

Apparatus and method to improve precision of identifying a range of effects of a failure in a system providing a multilayer structure of services

The scheduling device divides the execution duration into a plurality of unit periods. The scheduling device then allocates each of the plurality of physical machines to a physical machine group that may execute, while satisfying the constraint conditions, migration of the virtual machine operating on the allocated physical machine and maintenance work on the allocated physical machine within one or more unit periods of the plurality of unit periods. Thereafter, for each of the plurality of physical machine groups, the scheduling device creates individual schedule information indicating a work execution duration of migration of the virtual machine operating on the allocated physical machine and that of maintenance work on the allocated physical machine within one or more unit periods of the plurality of unit periods, and outputs overall schedule information obtained by integrating the individual schedule information on each of the plurality of physical machine groups.

Scheduling method and scheduling device

An apparatus includes a memory configured to store configuration information related to a physical machine and a virtual machine that operates on the physical machine, and temporal information indicating a time turnaround for migration of the virtual machine from the physical machine to another physical machine. Upon acquisition of data indicating a duration of a maintenance execution related to a physical machine, the apparatus produces, based on the configuration information and the temporal information stored in the memory, a constraint condition for the virtual machine that operates on the physical machine, where the constraint condition is used to determine a schedule of the migration. The apparatus produces schedule information of the migration, based on the constraint condition and the duration of the maintenance execution, and outputs the schedule information to a device used by a user of the virtual machine.

A migration control apparatus includes a processor configured to, acquire a first communication log regarding a first virtual machine when execution of migration of the first virtual machine is not completed in a specific time, perform calculation of a first response time of a first processing request to the first virtual machine, acquire a second communication log regarding the first virtual machine after lowering frequency of assignment of a computing resource to the first virtual machine to a first rate, perform calculation of a second response time of a second processing request to the first virtual machine, calculate a second rate to which the frequency of assignment of the computing resource is permitted to be lowered, after starting re-execution of the migration, perform calculation of a third rate of the frequency of assignment of the computing resource for completing the re-execution, and perform determination of whether to cease the re-execution.
