A method of fabricating a hologram having a pattern made up of pixels in which a photosensitive material for forming a hologram is stacked on either a reflection-type hologram or a transmission type hologram. According to one aspect of the invention, the photosensitive material is stacked on a reflection-type relief hologram and reconstructing illumination light of a given wavelength is struck on the reflection-type relief hologram through the photosensitive material, so that interference fringes produced by interference of the light diffracted from the reflection type relief hologram and the incident light are recorded in the photosensitive material. According to another aspect of the invention, the photosensitive material is stacked on a transmission-type hologram, and reconstructing illumination light of a given wavelength is struck on a side of the transmission type hologram that is not opposite to the volume hologram photosensitive material, so that interference fringes produced by interference of light diffracted from the transmission type hologram and reference light incident on the photosensitive material are recorded in the photosensitive material. The invention provides a method of recording, and replicating a reflection hologram, which enables reference light or object light to strike on a holographic recording material at an angle of incidence that is approximate to 90.degree. or larger than the critical angle. With the reflection hologram-replicating method, the reflection hologram can be continuously replicated by allowing replicating illumination light to strike on the holographic recording material at any desired angle of incidence other than verticality. A wavefront conversion type transmission hologram 1' is located in close contact with one surface side of a reflection hologram recording material 6 while a reflection hologram plate 7 is located in close contact with the other surface side thereof. The reflection hologram plate 7 is replicated by interference in the photographic material 6 between light 5 produced upon incidence of illumination light 4 on the wavefront conversion type transmission hologram 1', in which at least one of the wavefront shape and direction thereof is converted, and light 8 produced upon diffraction of light 5 by striking on the plate 7 through the holographic recording material 6.

Hologram reproduction process and volume hologram

A system which enables a film, e.g. a photosensitive material film, to be continuously laminated on and delaminated from a surface of a substrate, e.g. a hologram original plate, and allows duplication to be continuously effected. The system includes a film supply part (32) for supplying a film (1), a film laminating part (37) for continuously laminating the supplied film (1) on a film laminating substrate (35), a film delaminating part (37') for continuously delaminating the film from the substrate (35), and a film take-up part (43) for taking up the delaminated film. In the system, no air bubbles are trapped when the film (1) is laminated on the substrate (35), and no peel unevenness, e.g. undesired line, occurs when the film (1) is delaminated from the substrate (35). The system is suitable for use in a hologram duplicating apparatus, a dimple relief pattern duplicating apparatus, a microscopic test sample preparing apparatus, etc.
