The content processing device includes a first converter for performing first conversion processing of converting frame rates of the first content and the second content, which are moving images, so that the frame rates become equal to each other, a synthesizer for performing screen synthesis for displaying side by side the conversion results on the same screen, a second converter for performing a second conversion processing of converting the frame rate of the synthesis result to a frame rate higher than the frame rate before being converted, a storage unit for temporarily storing the frames required for the first conversion processing and the second conversion processing, and a controller for calculating a ratio of storage capacities of the storage unit to be assigned to the first conversion processing and the second conversion processing according to attributes related to motion amounts of moving images.

An image conversion apparatus includes an image signal input unit repeatedly inputting an odd-numbered frame of a first parallax, an odd-numbered frame of a second parallax, an even-numbered frame of the first parallax, and an even-numbered frame of the second parallax, in this order; a frame memory storing the first and second parallax data having been input; a memory control unit alternately reading as field data (m+1) pieces (m is an integer of one or larger than one) of identical odd-numbered frames of the first parallax and m pieces of identical odd-numbered frames of the second parallax, and subsequently alternately reading as field data m pieces of identical even-numbered frames of the first parallax and (m+1) pieces of identical even-numbered frames of the second parallax; and an image output unit outputting the field data having been read.

Image conversion method and image conversion apparatus

The present invention provides an image processing device that converts an interlace image signal into a progressive signal so as not to cause degradation of image quality in edge parts of letters or the like, when performing an IP conversion with respect to an image that is mixed with an OSD such as a caption and a telop. The image processing device includes: an OSD mix part that mixes an on-screen display with an input interlace image signal; a motion detecting part that detects a motion by comparing pixel data between different fields; and an interpolation pixel generating part that generates a new pixel between lines of the interlace image signal by interpolating calculation with an interpolation method that depends on an OSD mix ratio of the OSD mix part and a result of the motion detection by the motion detecting part.
