During the travel of a vehicle, the oil level of lubricating oil is lowered due to the suction by at least a first oil pump and the scraping-up by the rotation of a differential ring gear and so on. In particular, until the oil level becomes equal to or lower than an upper end of a first partition wall, the oil level is lowered due to both the suction by the first oil pump and the scraping-up by the rotation of the differential ring gear and so on, and therefore, a region, that is immersed in the lubricating oil, of the differential device rapidly becomes smaller. Since a suction port of the first oil pump is disposed in a second oil storage portion, the oil level in the second oil storage portion during the travel of the vehicle can be adjusted independently of that in a first oil storage portion.

Lubricating device of power transmission device for vehicle

A vehicle has a front grille, engine, engine compartment, power storage device, temperature sensor, shutter, heater and controller. The device can be electrically charged from an external power supply. The temperature sensor detects engine coolant temperature. The shutter is disposed in a transfer pathway of air drawn into the engine compartment via the front grille, and is switched between closed and open states. The heater is able to generate heat when receiving the electric power, raising the coolant temperature. The controller starts the engine when the coolant temperature is lower than a startup threshold value, drives the heater when the coolant temperature is lower than a first threshold value equal to or higher than the startup threshold value, until the coolant temperature becomes equal to or higher than the first threshold value, and drives the shutter to place the shutter in the closed state while the heater is driven.

Vehicle and method of controlling the vehicle

A vehicle has an engine (), a power storage device (), two motor/generators (M/G, M/G), a front grille with a shutter, an engine room, a first temperature sensor, a second temperature sensor, and a controller. The shutter changes the amount of air introduced from the front grille into the engine room. The first temperature sensor detects a temperature (Tw) of a coolant of the engine, and outputs the detected coolant temperature to the controller. The second temperature sensor detects an outside air temperature (Te), and outpots the detected outside air temperature to the controller. The controller starts the engine () when the coolant temperature is equal to or lower than a threshold value. When the coolant temperature is higher than the threshold value, and the vehicle starts traveling in a first mode with power from the power storage device (), the controller drives the shutter such that the amount of the air is reduced when the coolant temperature (Tw) is higher than the outside air temperature (Te).

Control apparatus for a hybrid vehicle drive system

A vehicle drive device configured with reduced axial dimensions, while still having appropriate lubrication. The vehicle drive device is configured with an input shaft coupled to an engine, a rotary electric machine, and an output shaft coupled to wheels. A power transfer mechanism couples input shaft, the rotary electric machine, and the output shaft. A case houses at least the rotary electric machine and the power transfer mechanism. An oil reserving portion capable of reserving oil supplied by rotation of the power transfer mechanism is provided above the rotor shaft inside the case. A communication oil passage is oriented between the oil reserving portion and an inner circumferential space formed inside the rotor shaft. The rotor shaft is disposed to be inserted into the inside housing space, and has a supply communication hole that communicates between the inner circumferential space and the inside housing space.

In a planetary gear unitof a power transmitting device, a sun gear Sis connected to an electric motor, a carrier CAis non-rotatably fixed to a case, and a ring gear Ris connected to an output gearand an oil pump. As a result, a structure of carrier being fixed/output power being taken out via ring gear is obtained. Therefore, for example, a structure can be employed in which the ring gear and the output gear are integrated. Accordingly, as compared with a structure in which a ring gear is fixed/output power is taken out via carrier and the output gear has to be axially offset and connected to a carrier, an axial space can be omitted, to allow the power transmitting device to be downsized.

When it is predicted that a request for a parking lock operation is likely to be received, an actuator of a parking mechanism is controlled to perform standby processing for bringing the parking mechanism into a standby state immediately preceding a lock state to wait for the request for the parking lock operation.
