Provided is a rotating electric machine the interior of which can be suitably cooled. A coolant supply means of the rotating electric machine supplies a cooling fluid to the bottom of a tubular member from a location closer to one end of a rotary shaft than the bottom, and the bottom of the tubular member is equipped with through-holes that run in the axial direction of the rotary shaft, with the cooling fluid being supplied to the interior of the tubular member through the through-holes.

A plurality of energy efficiencies of an electric motor which are determined by characteristics of the electric motor are set according to the revolution speed and the driving force of the electric motor, and among the plurality of energy efficiencies, a plurality of energy efficiency groups having the equivalent energy efficiency are prepared. The energy efficiency for each transmission gear of a first input shaft is determined on the basis of a travelling speed and a required driving force of a vehicle. To which group among the plurality of energy efficiency groups that each determined energy efficiency is pertained is determined, and a transmission gear corresponding to the energy efficiency group having the highest energy efficiency among the determined energy efficiency groups is selected.

At least one of a state and a storage amount of a battery is detected, and a battery output that can be outputted by the battery is calculated on the basis of it. A state of an electric motor is detected, and at least one of electric motor torque and electric motor output that can be outputted from the electric motor and maximal torque of the electric motor are calculated on the basis of it. A state of an engine is detected, and engine starting torque required to start the engine is calculated on the basis of it. An EV range in which the engine is cut off to be capable of driving with only the electric motor is set up on the basis of the calculated battery output, at least one of the calculated electric motor torque and electric motor output, and the calculated engine starting torque.
