A magnetic tape cassette comprises an approximately rectangular bottom wall provided with an opening, into which a spindle is to be inserted, a side wall extending along the periphery of the bottom wall, and a structural part formed integrally with the bottom wall at a corner of the bottom wall and in proximity to the side wall. The magnetic tape cassette is of a thin-walled type, constituted of a resin, and integrally molded by feeding the resin from a position corresponding to the vicinity of a center point of the bottom wall into a mold. The bottom wall is provided with a flow path-like, thick-walled portion extending along a direction heading from the position in the bottom wall corresponding to the position, from which the resin is fed into the mold, approximately towards the structural part.

Magnetic tape cassette

A cassette accommodating case in which a tape cassette can be inserted in either a forward or backward orientation, and for preventing slackening of a magnetic tape, and to secure the tape cassette to eliminate play. Positioning projections having inclined surfaces are provided on each side of a casing section. When the casing section and a cover section are closed, the inclined surfaces abut against the ends of side projections on side surfaces of the tape cassette to push the tape cassette when the casing and cover sections are closed. A rotation-preventing projection of an accommodating case protrudes into a common area of the hubs when a cassette is loaded in the forward and backward orientations, and the projection includes two plate-like portions of different heights, disposed in parallel, and with a predetermined interval therebetween. A distal end of the long plate-like portion has a guiding inclined surface for correcting the positional offset of the hub by contacting its inner peripheral surface. The hub is retained by the two plate-like portions. Backward-pressing surfaces are provided in opposing corner portions of the case to secure the cassette tape within the case.

Cassette accommodating case

A cassette case which allows positioning and fixing of a hub without biting of a hub pawl, and enhances the convenience with which the case is used. A plate-like portion comes at its edge into contact with a corner of a peak of a hub pawl without the plate-like portions of the projection coming at their edges into engagement with the hub pawl when a cover section of a storage case has been closed relative to a casing section. The sum of pushing forces exerted on the hub pawl by the plate-like portion causes the hub to rotate to thereby introduce the hub pawl into a space formed between the plate-like portions. In order to carry out the above-mentioned operation, the plate-like portion is designed to have an edge extending in a direction from a front to a rear, and vice versa, of a magnetic tape cassette to be encased in the storage case, and the plate-like portion is designed to have an edge making a predetermined angle with the above-mentioned direction.

Cassette case

A magnetic tape cassette accommodating case has a cover member having a pocket for receiving one end portion of a magnetic tape cassette and a casing member having rotation stopper projections. At least (a) peripheral portions of the cover member and the casing member, which edge portions confront at least the thickened portion of the magnetic tape cassette, and (b) side wall portions of the cover member and the casing member, the side wall portions including the pivotably assembled portions, are molded with a resin, which is more slidable than the other portions of the cover member and the casing member. The other portions are molded with such a transparent resin as to allow the case to be seen through. A method for manufacturing such a magnetic tape cassette accommodating cage utilizes a first slide core slidable in a direction of inserting a cassette, and a second slide core movable substantially orthogonal to the direction of moving the first slide core.

Method for manufacturing a magnetic tape cassette accommodating case

A magnetic tape cassette-accommodating case having an index card which is deformed into a configuration optimally suited to an enlarged-thickness portion of a magnetic tape cassette. The index card has a slit formed in a vicinity facing a recessed portion of the cassette-accommodating case.

A magnetic tape cassette includes a leaf spring and magnetic tape reels in which the depression force of the leaf spring is varied such that, in assembling the cassette, the leaf spring provides a relatively weak depression force thereby to facilitate cassette assembly, and when the cassette is in use, the leaf spring provides a relatively strong depression force to sufficiently depress the magnetic tape reels. The magnetic tape cassette also includes a pair of protrusions formed on the inner surface of the top wall of an upper half casing which can abut the arms of a leaf spring secured to the upper half casing, so that, in assembling the cassette, the leaf spring is bent until it is brought into contact with the protrusions. When the cassette is in use, the leaf spring is further bent with the protrusions serving as fulcra, thereby to increase its force of depression.

A magnetic tape cassette including a pair of hubs which are rotatably supported in an internal opening defined between upper and lower half portions of a body of the cassette and on which a magnetic tape is wound, and friction sheets provided between the tops and bottoms of the hubs and the upper and lower inside surfaces of the cassette. Each of the sheets includes projecting portions having substantially rectangular cross sections and extending substantially in a longitudinal direction of the sheet so that the protruding portions reach both ends of the sheet and at least two hub holes are located between the protruding portions. A method for manufacturing the half body portions of a magnetic tape cassette or the like having an image transfer layer on its outer surface. An image transfer film is placed in a molding cavity, which film includes a base layer, a matting layer, and an image transfer layer. The function of the matting layer is to roughen the surface of the image transfer layer, while allowing easy subsequent peeling therefrom. A molten plastic is injected into the molding cavity against the image transfer layer. After the resulting product solidifies, the product is removed from the molding cavity, and the base layer and matting layer are peeled from the product, leaving the image transfer layer on an outside surface of the product.

Method for manufacturing magnetic tape cassette

A magnetic tape cassette in which protrusions made of low friction resin are formed on the inner walls of the upper and lower halves by a two-color molding method in such a manner that they are located in correspondence at least to the magnetic tape winding diameter so as to be in contact with the edges of the magnetic tape. The protrusions of low friction resin replace the friction sheets in the conventional magnetic tape cassette, whereby the number of components and the number of manufacturing steps are reduced, with the result that the manufacturing cost is also reduced.

A cassette casing for a magnetic tape cassette has a casing body and a slider member mounted for sliding motion between a closed position and an open position. The slider member has a pair of guide grooves formed on the outer surface thereof remote from the casing body and extending from a first end of the cassette casing toward the other end, each of the guide grooves having first and second engaging holes which are formed on the bottom of the guide groove to extend through the slider member and open to the inner surface of the same and are spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction of the guide groove. The casing body is provided with a pair of locking projections each of which is resiliently urged toward one of the guide grooves from the inner surface of the slider member and is adapted to be selectively engaged with the first and second engaging holes so that its tip portion projects into the guide groove. The locking projections is disengaged from the engaging holes by a pair of lock release projections which are provided on a surface of a cassette deck and slide along the guide grooves when the magnetic tape cassette is loaded in the cassette deck. The outer surface of the slider member which is opposed to the surface of the cassette deck on which the lock release projections are provided is cut obliquely at each side edge portion thereof from a portion close to the guide groove on the outer side thereof to the side edge.

A magnetic tape cassette of reduced thickness which can be manufactured with high productivity. The cassette includes a lid having a pocket and a body, the latter having rotation-preventing projections formed integrally therewith, which are pivotally coupled to each other so as to open and close in the manner of a book. Recesses are provided in the lid and body in which the thick portion of the cassette is accommodated. Projections are provided on the bottom of the recess of at least the body of the case, which projections extend up from the bottom of the recess in the direction of thickness of the case. At least the tops of the projections are aventurine surfaces.
