A rolling device in which rust development or damage on a raceway surface or rolling surface is hard to occur even if water and the like intrude is provided. A self-aligning roller bearing comprises an inner ring, an outer ring, and a plurality of rolling elementsdisposed rotatably between a raceway surfaceof the inner ringand a raceway surfaceof the outer ring. At least any one of the inner ring, the outer ring, and the rolling elementsis provided with a metal coating formed by shot peening of a powder of metal less noble than iron at least on a part of its surface.

The present invention is to offer such a rolling bearing excellent in the corrosion resistance and suited to the environmental protection. This rolling bearing rotatably holds, via a retainer, a plurality of rolling elements between an inner ring having an inner ring raceway in an outer circumference and an outer ring having an outer ring raceway in an inner circumference, and is sealed with a seal or a shield member covered with a rubber, wherein a core metal of the seal or the shield member is a steel sheet that is covered with a film of 0.2 to 50 &#x3bc;m thickness, the film comprising a metal or an alloy having a smaller oxidation-reduction potential than that of iron, and that is formed with a film comprising an inorganic substance of lithium and silica as an uppermost layer.
