An insulated electric wire includes a conductor and an insulating layer coated in periphery of the conductor. The insulating layer is made of a resin composition containing a base polymer and a flame retardant. The flame retardant is made of silane-treated aluminum hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide treated with a treatment agent other than a silane coupling agent and/or untreated aluminum hydroxide. The base polymer contains a polymer having a polar group. The resin composition contains the flame retardant, a content of which is more than 40 parts by mass and equal to or less than 80 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the base polymer. The resin composition contains the silane-treated aluminum hydroxide, a content of which is equal to or more than 10 parts by mass and equal to or less than 70 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the flame retardant.

Resin composition, insulated electric wire and method of manufacturing insulated electric wire

An insulated electric wire includes a conductor and an insulating layer. This insulating layer is made of a resin composition containing a base polymer and a metallic hydroxide. The base polymer contains ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and ethylene-(&#x3b1;-olefin) copolymer. The '&#x3b1;-olefin' is a non-polarized monomer, its melting point is equal to or lower than 70&#xb0; C. A vinyl-acetate total content of the base polymer is equal to or less than 19 mass %. The resin composition contains the ethylene-(&#x3b1;-olefin) copolymer, a content of which is equal to or more than 20 parts by mass and equal to or less than 70 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the base polymer, and contains the metallic hydroxide, a content of which is equal to or more than 30 parts by mass and equal to or less than 150 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the base polymer.

A method of decomposing an organic compound includes decomposing an organic compound by alkyl carbonate at 250&#xb0; C. or more. The organic compound includes a cross-linked polymer. The cross-linked polymer includes a polymer cross-linked by organic peroxide cross-linking, radiation cross-linking, or silane cross-linking The alkyl carbonate includes dimethyl carbonate or diethyl carbonate.
