An object of the present invention is to make a housing for a ceiling-mounted type air conditioner small-sized without decreasing the performance and capacity of the air conditioner, and particularly to decrease the length of the housing in the depth direction, thereby facilitating the installation of the air conditioner and improving the room appearance. To achieve the above object, a heat exchanger is bent into a doglegged shape, the bent portion thereof is convex to the air inlet side, and the heat exchanger is inclined so as to be raised on the air inlet side. A cross flow fan rotating around a horizontal axis is disposed on the downstream side of the heat exchanger.

A method for controlling a temperature of an object to be cooled or heated by a cooling/heating apparatus is improved in that when all of a plurality of temperature detectors for detecting a temperature of the object are operating normally, the cooling/heating capacity of the cooling/heating apparatus is regulated in response to input signals consisting of the detection temperature of the respective temperature detectors according to an operation pattern set in a normal time thermostat. When it has been determined that a certain temperature indicated by a detector is abnormal, then the cooling/heating capacity of the cooling/heating apparatus is regulated in response to input signals consisting of the detection temperatures of the other normal temperature detectors according to an operation pattern set in an abnormal time thermostat that is different from the operation pattern set in the normal time thermostat; thus the temperature of the object can thereby be controlled.

An improved air cooling type heat exchanger for a refrigerating apparatus accommodated in a container is disclosed, wherein the improvement consists in that the air cooling type heat exchanger is divided into a plurality of segments which are arranged in a stepped relation in the direction of main air flow in such a manner that they overlap with a certain distance kept between the adjacent ones. Thus, it is assured that the heat exchanger is designed and constructed in smaller dimensions and moreover it is operated at a high efficiency.

Air cooling type heat exchanger for a refrigerating apparatus

An improved refrigerating apparatus including a compressor, air cooling type condensers, an expansion valve and an evaporator which are connected in series one after another in the refrigerating system, is disclosed, wherein the improvement consists in that the air cooling type condensers comprise an upstream air cooling type condenser and a downstream air cooling type condenser which are separately arranged in the refrigerating system and a water cooling type which condenser is disposed between both the upstream and downstream air cooling type condensers. Owing to the arrangement of the refrigerating apparatus in accordance with the invention, reduced space required for mounting the refrigerating apparatus, and decreased volume of refrigerant required for operating the refrigerating apparatus are assured.

A refrigerating apparatus adapted for storage of cold storage goods as well as frozen goods and having both a heater and a cooler is controlled by an improved temperature control device, which includes a detector for detecting a temperature of return air from the interior of a storage area of the refrigerating apparatus and a detector for detecting a temperature of an air output which is blown into the interior of the storage area, and which controls either the higher one of the two detected temperatures or the lower one of the two detected temperatures depending upon a set temperature. In the case of storing cold storage goods, the lower one of the two detected temperatures is controlled so as to be maintained at the set temperature, whereas in the case of storing frozen goods, the higher one of the two detected temperatures is controlled so as to be maintained at the set temperature.
