The input coupler component comprises: an input polarization volume grating, which is disposed to deflect an input polarized electromagnetic wave into a waveguide in a total internal reflection manner; and an input polarization management layer, which adjusts the polarization of the deflected electromagnetic wave to a polarization state different from that of electromagnetic wave to be deflected by the input polarization volume grating.

An optical display system includes an information display (image-generating) component, a polarization dependent image offset optical element and possibly also a polarization rotator. By controlling the image offset optical element either by direct applying voltage or by controlling the polarization of the displayed light through the polarization rotator, the display pixels can be switched by a certain portion. Methods for producing a perovskite-polymer composites that may include contacting a solid material comprising a polymer matrix with a solution comprising a perovskite precursor; allowing the solution to penetrate the solid material to yield a swollen solid material comprising the perovskite precursor dispersed within the polymer matrix; optionally contacting the swollen solid material with an antisolvent; and annealing the swollen solid material to crystallize the perovskite precursor and to yield the perovskite-polymer composite comprising perovskite nanocrystals dispersed in the polymer matrix.

Perovskite-polymer composites and methods

An optical display system includes an information display (image-generating) component, a polarization rotator, a polarization dependent optical element, an input holographic coupler, a light guide and an output holographic coupler. By controlling the polarization of the displayed light through the polarization rotator, the polarization dependent optical element changes the viewable content to different distances from the viewer. This enables the generation of a proper light field which will then be coupled into the light guide through the input holographic coupler, and finally go through the output holographic coupler to a user's eye.

An ultrabright bright quantum dot light-emitting diode (QLED) device and associated method of manufacture. The QLED device includes quantum dots (QD) as emitters and a mixture of metal oxide nanoparticles and alkali metal compounds for simultaneous electron injection and hole blocking to achieve charging balance at high driving current conditions. The ultrabright QLEDs are useful for many light source applications including, but not limited to display, solid state lighting, optical sensor, phototherapy, photomedicine and photobiomedicine.

A representative display device includes: a backlight unit, having a light source and a color conversion layer having an alignment direction, the light comprising a first light exhibiting a first upstream polarization ratio, a second light exhibiting a second upstream polarization ratio, and a third light exhibiting a third upstream polarization ratio; and a patterned phase retarder positioned to receive the light, having a plurality of half-wave regions to alter polarization of light passing therethrough, and a plurality of free regions to pass light without altering the polarization; wherein polarization ratio (PR) is defined by PR=(I&#x2212;I)/(I+I); and wherein the first upstream polarization ratio exhibits a first sign, and both the second upstream polarization ratio and the third upstream polarization ratio exhibit a second sign opposite the first sign.

Display devices and related methods involving patterned phase retarding

Liquid crystal display (LCD) systems and related methods with pixel elements driven at different frequencies are provided. A representative LCD system includes: a plurality of pixel elements arranged in an array, each of the plurality of pixel elements having a first sub-region and a second sub-region; a low-frequency driving circuit operative to drive each of the first sub-regions; and a high-frequency driving circuit operative to drive each of the second sub-regions at a driving frequency different than a driving frequency of the low-frequency driving circuits; wherein the first sub-regions exhibit a different size than the second sub-regions.
