An electric tool, such as an angle driver, has a main tool body with a front portion and a rear portion positioned opposite to the front portion. The main tool body houses a motor configured to receive electricity to function as a drive source. A gear head is coupled with the front portion of the main tool body wherein the gear head has a spindle in communication with a motor axis of the motor via mesh-engagement of bevel gears associated with the motor axis. The spindle has with a cutter tool accessory attached thereto such that rotation of the motor axis produces a commensurate rotation of the cutter tool accessory. Battery attachment portions are associated with the rear portion of the main tool body and are configured to receive a corresponding set of batteries that provide electricity to power the motor.

A power tool in the form of an electric disc grinder has a driving motor for driving a grinding wheel that performs a grinding or polishing operation on a workpiece, a motor housing that houses the driving motor, a rear cover that is mounted to a rear end region of the motor housing and forms together with the motor housing a grip to be held by a user, and a power switch including an operating lever that extends longitudinally on both of the motor housing and the rear cover and is operated by gripping with a user's hand, and a switch part that is disposed within the rear cover and actuated by operation of the operating lever to control energization of the driving motor and connected to the operating lever through an opening.

The reciprocating saw has a main body, a support member, a guide shoe, a locking member and an engaging member. The support member can be slid relative to the main body. The guide shoe is attached to an anterior end of the support member. The locking member can be switched between a state allowing the support member to be slid relative to the main body and a state not allowing the sliding. The engaging member is energized towards the support member. The engaging member and the support member engage or release their engagement, while the support member is being slid relative to the main body across a location allowing locking and a location not allowing locking.

A variable speed power tool may include a speed adjusting device and/or a maximum speed adjusting device for adjusting the operating speed, and a fixed operating speed switch. An operator adjustable speed adjusting device having a position maintaining mechanism also may be utilized. When manipulated by the operator, the fixed operating speed switch gives priority to the adjusted position of the speed adjusting device and adjusts the operating speed to a preset operating speed. In the alternative, a switching device and an internal integrated circuit may be utilized to adjust the operating speed to a target speed using feedback control. The switching device preferably selects a voltage corresponding to the target speed from either a voltage representative of the position of the speed adjusting device or a predetermined voltage representative of the present operating speed.

A power tool includes a motor and a switch device for starting and stopping the motor. The switch device includes an operation member and an on-operation prevention device. The operation member can pivot about a pivotal axis between an on position and an off position and has an on-operation arm and an off-operation arm on either side of the pivotal axis for operation by an operator. The on-operation prevention device serves to prevent the operation member from moving from the off position to the on position and to permit the operation member to move from the off position to the on position.
