An armature includes a multi-phase armature coil and an armature core. The armature core includes a back yoke, a plurality of large-width teeth and a plurality of small-width teeth having a smaller circumferential width than the large-width teeth. The large-width teeth each radially protrude from the back yoke and are spaced from one another in a circumferential direction of the armature core. The large-width teeth have the armature coil concentratedly wound thereon. The small-width teeth each radially protrude from the back yoke and are spaced from one another in the circumferential direction of the armature core. The small-width teeth are arranged alternately with the large-width teeth in the circumferential direction of the armature core. Moreover, 1&#x2264;W/W&#x2264;2, where Wis a radial width of the back yoke and Wis the circumferential width of the small-width teeth.

A double-stator rotating electric machine includes a rotor, an outer stator disposed radially outside the rotor with an outer gap formed therebetween, and an inner stator disposed radially inside the rotor with an inner gap formed therebetween. The outer stator has an outer multi-phase coil wound thereon, and the inner stator has an inner multi-phase coil wound thereon. Moreover, the inner gap formed between the inner stator and the rotor is set to be larger than the outer gap formed between the outer stator and the rotor.

Double-stator rotating electric machine

A rotating electric machine includes an armature and a field rotor. The field rotor includes magnetic pole teeth, an annular body portion, a bypass gap portion and permanent magnets. The magnetic pole teeth are arranged so that the polarities thereof alternate between N and S in a circumferential direction of the field rotor. The annular body portion connects the magnetic pole teeth at their root portions. The bypass gap portion is provided on an opposite side of the annular body portion to the magnetic pole teeth. The permanent magnets are provided in the annular body portion so as to be spaced from one another in the circumferential direction. The bypass gap portion includes first magnetic gaps each of which is formed adjacent to one of the permanent magnets. Each of the permanent magnets is arranged within an inter-pole angular range between one circumferentially-adjacent pair of the magnetic pole teeth.

Rotating electric machine with magnetic gaps

An AC excitation synchronous rotating electric machine includes a multi-phase coil, an armature core, an outer yoke core, a field-winding-less rotor and a controller. The armature core has the multi-phase coil wound thereon. The rotor is rotatably disposed so as to face the armature core and includes magnetic poles each having a facing portion and a magnetic reluctance portion. The facing portion is provided at one axial end of the magnetic pole so as to face the outer yoke core and allow magnetic flux to flow therebetween. The magnetic reluctance portion is provided at the other axial end of the magnetic pole to impede the magnetic flux from flowing therethrough. The controller controls supply of multi-phase alternating current to the multi-phase coil so that magnetomotive force generated in the armature core is applied to the magnetic poles, thereby causing the magnetic poles to operate as a DC field.

AC excitation synchronous rotating electric machine

A rotating electric machine includes a multi-phase coil, an armature core, a rotor, a yoke core and a superimposer. The armature core has the multi-phase coil wound thereon. The rotor is rotatably disposed and has a plurality of magnetic poles facing the armature core. The yoke core is arranged so as to surround outer peripheries of the multi-phase coil and the armature core. The yoke core is magnetically connected with the magnetic poles of the rotor. The superimposer superimposes a DC component on a multi-phase alternating current supplied to the multi-phase coil, thereby supplying a DC field magnetic flux to a magnetic circuit that is formed by the armature core, the magnetic poles of the rotor and the yoke core.

Rotating electric machine

In an electric rotating machine, a stator has an armature coil wound around an armature core segments with M pairs of poles, and N pairs of field sources (field coil and field magnetic field), a rotor has K soft magnetic members including a plurality of protrusions on a side facing the stator, and the armature coil, the field sources, and the soft magnetic members satisfy a relational expression of |M&#xb1;N|=K. With this configuration, rotors are rotated based on the magnetic modulation principle, so that field poles can have alternating electromagnetic action on the armature coil, and the performance of the electric rotating machine can be improved with a brushless structure.

Electric rotating machine

A double-stator rotating electric machine includes a rotor, an outer stator having an outer multi-phase coil wound thereon, and an inner stator having an inner multi-phase coil wound thereon. Each corresponding pair of phase windings of the outer and inner multi-phase coils are formed of at least one common electric conductor wire. The electric conductor wire includes a bridging portion that bridges the corresponding pair of phase windings of the outer and inner multi-phase coils across the rotor. The bridging portion extends obliquely with respect to both radial and circumferential directions of the rotor so that radially outer and radially inner ends of the bridging portion, which are respectively connected to the corresponding pair of phase windings of the outer and inner multi-phase coils, are circumferentially offset from each other by an offset angle &#x3b8;. The offset angle &#x3b8; is greater than 0&#xb0; and less than 180&#xb0; in electrical angle.

A rotating electric machine includes at least one multi-phase coil, at least one armature core having the at least one multi-phase coil wound thereon, and at least one rotor rotatably disposed and having a plurality of magnetic poles facing the at least one armature core. The at least one multi-phase coil has at least one coil end part protruding from the at least one armature core and surrounded by at least one magnetic circuit formed in the rotating electric machine. There are a plurality of gaps formed between the at least one armature core and the at least one rotor.

An outer rotor-type rotating electric machine includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor includes a plurality of magnets each of which extends in a circumferential direction of the rotor and is magnetized in a radial direction of the rotor. The stator is disposed radially inside the rotor. The stator has a plurality of stator teeth formed in a radial pattern. Each of the stator teeth has an inner circumferential width at its radially inner end and an outer circumferential width at its radially outer end. Moreover, the following relationship is satisfied: Wi/Wo&#x2265;0.6, where Wi is the inner circumferential width and Wo is the outer circumferential width of each of the stator teeth.

Outer rotor-type rotating electric machine

A rotor securing arrangement for directly or indirectly securing a rotor to a shaft. The rotor has at least one through hole along a axial direction of the rotor. A second hole diameter of the at least one through hole at either or both of axial ends of the rotor is greater than a first hole diameter of the at least one through hole at a portion other than the axial ends of the rotor. The rotor securing arrangement includes a first securing member corresponding to the first hole diameter of the at least one through hole, and a second securing member corresponding to the second hole diameter of the at least one through hole. The first securing member is configured to directly or indirectly secure the rotor to the shaft with at least a portion of the second securing member between the first securing member and the rotor.

Rotor securing arrangement and rotating electric machine having the same

A dual-rotor electric rotating machine includes a stator and first and second rotors that are arranged with the stator interposed therebetween. The stator includes a stator core, at least one stator winding and a stator core support. The at least one stator winding is formed of a plurality of electric conductor segments each of which is substantially U-shaped to have a base and a pair of end portions. The electric conductor segments are received in slots of the stator core so that the end portions of the electric conductor segments are located on the same side of the stator core as the stator core support and the bases of the electric conductor segments are located on the opposite side of the stator core to the stator core support. Each corresponding pair of the end portions of the electric conductor segments are electrically connected with each other.

Dual-rotor electric rotating machine

A double-stator electric rotating machine with a retainer. The retainer includes a connector which joints between an outer stator and an inner stator. The retainer is placed in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the outer stator and an inner peripheral surface of the inner stator to retain the outer and inner stators together. Specifically, the retainer works to join the outer stator and the inner stator together and also to tightly hold the outer periphery of the outer stator and the inner periphery of the inner stator, thus minimizing misalignment of the outer and inner stators in axial and radial directions there of.

Double-stator electric rotating machine

A multi-gap type rotary electric machine is provided, where the machine is provided a shaft supported rotatably by a baring secured to a housing. An annular rotor is secured to the shaft and configured to rotate together with the shaft. Double stators are secured to the housing and configured to have gaps between the stators and the rotor. Relationships of:3.5&#x3c;13/6&#x2003;&#x2003;(1) and7/6&#x3e;1&#x2003;&#x2003;(2)are met, where P6 denotes a circumferential width of each of outer salient poles, P7 denotes a circumferential width of each of inner salient poles, and P13 denotes a circumferential width of each of the outer magnets.

Multi-gap type rotary electric machine including inner and outer stators and a rotor with inner and outer magnets

A double-stator rotating electric machine includes a rotor and a pair of outer and inner stators. The outer stator has a first multi-phase coil wound thereon so as to form magnetic poles upon energization of the first multi-phase coil. The inner stator has a second multi-phase coil wound thereon so as to form magnetic poles upon energization of the second multi-phase coil. The number of the magnetic poles formed by the outer stator is equal to the number of the magnetic poles formed by the inner stator. Each of the magnetic poles formed by the outer stator is located at the same circumferential position as and has an opposite polarity to a corresponding one of the magnetic poles formed by the inner stator. The rotor has yoke portions each of which radially extends so as to form a magnetic flux passage magnetically connecting the outer and inner stators.

A rotor includes a rotor core and permanent magnets. The rotor core includes annular bodies that are stacked in a stacking direction and each formed of core segments arranged along a circumferential direction. The number of the core segments in each of the annular bodies is set based on k, where k is the number of magnetic poles formed by the permanent magnets. The rotor core has n through-holes, where n&#x2267;k. The rotor further includes n fixing members each of which extends in the stacking direction through one corresponding through-hole of the rotor core. Between each circumferentially adjacent pair of the core segments, there is formed a gap that is greater than a clearance provided between the through-holes of the rotor core and the fixing members. At least one of the annular bodies is circumferentially offset from another annular body by an integer multiple of one magnetic pole.
