A spatial optical communication system in which a plurality of transmitters and a plurality of receivers opposite to each of the plurality of transmitters perform an optical communication in parallel, in which the plurality of transmitters transmit optical signals of same or adjacent wavelengths to the receivers of each opposite location, and has an interference blocking unit which is disposed between the transmitter and the receiver and spatially blocks an optical signal that interferes with the receiver of a non-opposite location among optical signals transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver of an opposite location. As a result, it is possible to avoid interference with other optical communications with a reduced space and at low cost, without need to supply power.

An optical signal processing apparatus includes a removal unit and a superimposition unit. The removal unit receives, from a first optical transmission path, an optical signal converted from an electrical signal, in which a first signal and a second signal having different frequencies from each other have been superimposed, and removes the second signal from the optical signal which has been input. An aspect of the present disclosure is a transmission system including a modulated wave generation unit that generates an intermediate wave, which is a coherent wave in which a frequency component of either of two signals overlays a frequency spectrum, the two signals being a main signal indicating transmitted information to be transmitted and a control signal indicating management information, which is information on communication between a transmission source of the transmitted information and a communication destination of the transmission source, and a modulation unit that modulates the intermediate wave with a signal in which a frequency component does not overlay the frequency spectrum of the coherent wave generated by the modulated wave generation unit out of the two signals that are the main signal and the control signal. In the transmission system, a frequency band of the main signal and a frequency band of the control signal do not overlap each other.

The present invention enables shortening the time required for resuming communication in a protection method that uses a backup path in an optical communication system that includes a master station device and multiple slave station devices. The slave station devices are connected to a loop path in parallel. The communication paths between the master station device and the slave station devices include a normal path and a backup path. First and second slave station devices are slave station devices that cannot perform communication via the normal path. The magnitude relationship between backup path RTTs is opposite to the magnitude relationship between normal path RTTs. If the second normal path RTT for the second slave station device is longer than the first normal path RTT for the first slave station device, the first backup path RTT is longer than the second backup path RTT, and the second backup path RTT is shorter than the first backup path RTT. Based on this fact, the master station device limits the QuietWindow, which is used in ranging processing for measuring the backup path RTT, to a size smaller than a predetermined maximum size.

A wavelength multiplexing communication system includes a master station apparatus and a plurality of slave station apparatuses. The master station apparatus includes a wavelength multiplexing communication unit that performs wavelength multiplexing communication with the plurality of slave station apparatuses by wavelengths the number of which is equal to or less than the number of the plurality of slave station apparatuses using an optical signal of a wavelength in a first wavelength group and an optical signal of a wavelength in a second wavelength group. The slave station apparatuses include an optical communication unit that performs communication of the main signal with the master station apparatus by an optical signal of a wavelength in the first wavelength group, which is different from a wavelength in the first wavelength group used by another slave station when the main signal communication is performed in the host slave station apparatus, and performs communication of a signal other than the main signal with the master station apparatus by an optical signal of a wavelength in the second wavelength group, which is a wavelength same as a wavelength used by another slave station apparatus when the main signal communication is not performed in the host slave station apparatus.

A transmission start time correction method of a WDM/TDM-PON system includes: a completion instruction procedure in which a station-side subscriber accommodation apparatus issues an instruction using a downstream signal for instructing a subscriber apparatus to perform wavelength switching, the downstream signal including a transmission start time of an upstream signal indicating completion of the wavelength switching of the subscriber apparatus, the upstream signal being transmitted by the subscriber apparatus after the wavelength switching; an instruction completion transmission procedure in which the subscriber apparatus transmits the upstream signal indicating the completion of the wavelength switching at a wavelength after switching at the instructed transmission start time after the wavelength switching is completed in accordance with the instruction; and a transmission start time correction procedure in which the station-side subscriber accommodation apparatus measures a reception time of the upstream signal indicating the completion of the wavelength switching received after the wavelength switching and sets a time obtained by adding a time twice a time difference between a reception time of the upstream signal indicating the completion of the wavelength switching assumed before the wavelength switching and a reception time of the upstream signal indicating the completion of the wavelength switching received after the wavelength switching to the transmission start time of the upstream signal before the wavelength switching as a new transmission start time.

WDM/TDM-PON system and transmission start time correction method thereof

In an optical communication abnormality-recovery system and method, when an abnormality occurs in transmission and reception of one wavelength of an optical line terminal of a PON system, an optical network unit that is performing communication at a certain wavelength switches the wavelength for performing the communication to another backup wavelength that is instructed in advance. The optical line terminal also performs switching so that the communication is performed using the same backup wavelength as in the optical network unit.
