A liquid ejection head includes a print element substrate having an ejection port for ejecting a liquid; a support member supporting the print element substrate; and an adhesive agent provided for adhering the print element substrate to the support member. The print element substrate includes a supply port opposed to the support member and communicating with the ejection port, a first surface opposed to the support member and surrounding the supply port, and a second surface opposed to the support member and provided along at least a part of an outer edge of the first surface and retracted from the first surface relative to the support member. The adhesive agent is filled in a first space between the first surface and the support member, and at least a part of a second space between the second surface and the support member.

Liquid ejection head and manufacturing method thereof

A liquid ejection head includes an element substrate including an energy-generating element that applies ejection energy to liquid, a first electric wiring board electrically connected to the element substrate, and a second electric wiring board on which an integrated circuit element is mounted and which is electrically connected to the first electric wiring board. An electric signal is supplied to the integrated circuit element mounted on the second electric wiring board through the first electric wiring board, processed by the integrated circuit element, and supplied to the energy-generating element through the second electric wiring board and the first electric wiring board.

A liquid ejecting head including a print element substrate including an ejection opening for ejecting a liquid, a wiring member including wiring electrically connected to the print element substrate, a connection electrically connecting the print element substrate to the wiring member, a support member supporting the wiring member, a sealing material sealing the connection, and a cover member provided on the support member. In the liquid ejecting head, the wiring member is a strip-shaped member, and a portion of the wiring member provided on a surface of the support member that supports the wiring member is covered by the sealing material and the cover member.

A page-wide liquid ejection head configured to be removably installed in a main body of a liquid ejection apparatus includes a connection part for liquid through which a liquid is supplied from the main body and an electrical connector through which an electric signal is supplied from the main body. In the liquid ejection head, the connection part for liquid and the electrical connector are located at one side of the liquid ejection head in the longitudinal direction and are provided to face different directions from each other.

A page-wide type liquid ejection head includes a plurality of recording element substrates, each having an ejection port array including a plurality of ejection ports, each ejection port communicating with a pressure chamber including therein a recording element, and a liquid supply path for supplying a liquid to the pressure chamber. The liquid ejection head also includes a flow path member mounting the recording element substrates arranged thereon. The flow path member includes common supply flow paths and individual supply flow paths that connect the liquid supply path to the common supply flow paths, and the individual supply flow paths include portions running obliquely to the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the liquid ejection head.

A liquid discharge head includes a substrate having discharge energy generating elements generating energy for discharging liquid, a flow path member formed over the substrate and forming a flow path for supplying the liquid, an electric wiring member transmitting a signal for driving the discharge energy generating elements, and an electric connection electrically connecting the substrate to the electric wiring member. The liquid discharge head has a first sealant for sealing under the electric connection, a third sealant for sealing over the electric connection, and a second sealant for sealing side faces where the electric connection is not present, the side faces each being one of side faces of the substrate. An elastic modulus of the third sealant is the largest, that of the first sealant is the second, and that of the second sealant is the smallest. The first and third sealants contain the same type of resin.

Liquid discharge head

This invention is a manufacturing method of a liquid discharge head that includes a substrate having a plurality of discharge energy generating elements that generate energy that is utilized for discharging a liquid, and a discharge port forming member that constitutes a discharge port group including a plurality of discharge ports that discharge the liquid and flow paths that communicate with the discharge port group. The manufacturing method includes (1) disposing a photosensitive resin as material of the discharge port forming member on or above the substrate, and (2) forming an exposure pattern of the discharge port group using ultraviolet light in the photosensitive resin. In the aforementioned (2), the discharge port group is divided in a longitudinal direction and exposed, and the exposures are respectively performed so that regions in which there is a high degree of telecentricity face each other.

Manufacturing method of liquid discharge head

A capping unit is detachably mountable to an ink jet recording head. The ink jet recording head has an ejection outlet surface provided with ejection outlets for ejecting ink. The capping unit includes: a liquid-absorbing member provided with a projection contactable to a periphery of an area, in which the ejection outlets are formed, on the ejection outlet surface so as to form a gap between the area and the liquid-absorbing chamber; and a capping member including an engaging portion and an elastic portion for contacting a rear surface opposite from a surface on which the projection of said liquid-absorbing member is formed to press said liquid-absorbing member against the ejection outlet surface.

Capping unit for ink jet recording unit

An ink container includes an ink containing unit having a housing which directly contains ink, an ink guide, a movable member changing the internal volume of the ink containing unit, and a buffer chamber. The buffer chamber allows changing the internal volume of the ink containing unit when the movable member moves, and has an air communicating portion and is defined by a wall structure. A negative pressure controlling mechanism for controlling the negative pressure in the ink containing unit generated when the ink is guided out of the ink containing unit is provided apart from the housing.

A common recess, grooves, and common recess and/or column members in the grooves are formed on a base board at the same time, and such board is made a second base board, which is coupled to a first base board on which elements for liquid discharging energy are formed; hence obtaining an ink jet recording head provided with a filter unit in an arbitrary position in the region formed by the ink paths and the common liquid chamber. The filter unit can be processed by a single processing in the ink paths and/or the common liquid chamber to make it possible to prevent disabled discharge from taking place due to dust particles intermingled at the time of head manufacture. In this way, the discharging stability is enhanced, making a high-speed printing possible. A workpiece is efficiently processed by a single processing which is performed to process a three-dimensional configuration with respect to the direction in which the laser beam is irradiated.

Laser process for making a filter for an ink jet

A method for manufacturing a liquid-discharging recording head can prevent deviation in the dimensions and the pitch of grooves, serving as liquid channels, and holes, serving as discharging ports, and generation of burrs around discharging ports while maintaining the grooves and the holes to desired sizes and without increasing a time required for the processing when forming the grooves and the holes by projecting a laser beam. When performing ablation processing of the liquid-channel grooves or the discharging ports in a top-plate blank by projecting the laser beam, the processing is performed by changing the energy density per unit time of the laser beam continuously or stepwise by adjusting the oscillation voltage or the oscillation frequency of the laser beam, attenuating the laser beam, or moving a substance to be processed along the optical axis.

Method for manufacturing a liquid-discharging recording head

An ink jet recording head is provided with a plurality of discharge ports for discharging recording liquid, a discharge port plate having the discharge ports therefor, a liquid chamber for retaining the recording liquid, a plurality of discharge energy generating elements for discharging the recording liquid, a substrate having the plurality of discharge energy generating elements on one surface thereof, and a plurality of liquid flow paths extended in one direction for communicating the liquid chamber and the discharge ports, the liquid flow paths including the discharge energy generating elements therein and having the rectangular sectional configuration. The sectional shape of each of the discharge ports is circular on the end portion thereof on the recording liquid discharge side and the sectional area of the discharge port end portion connected with the liquid flow path being larger than that of the end portion of discharge port on the recording liquid discharge side, and the sectional shape of the discharge port is rectangular, while the discharge port is tapered to change the sectional shape thereof from being rectangular to circular. This ink jet recording head is effective in discharging recording liquid stably at higher speeds to form images in higher precision.

Ink jet recording head and a method of manufacture therefor

A substrate for use of an ink jet head that constitutes an ink jet head includes a plurality of discharge ports for discharging liquid, a plurality of liquid flow paths communicated with the plurality of discharge ports, and first and second heat generating device arranged serially in the liquid flow paths in the flow path direction of the liquid flow paths for generating thermal energy which is utilized for discharging liquid in the liquid flow paths from the discharge ports, the first and second heat generating device being formed on the substrate. For this substrate, the first and second heat generating device are driven at driving frequencies of 4 kHz or more, and the first heat generating device are arranged in parallel in the direction perpendicular to the flow path direction of the liquid flow paths, and at the same time, structured with a plurality of heat generating resistive members electrically connected in series, and the second heat generating device is structured with at least one heat generating resistive member. With the structure thus arranged, this substrate makes it possible not only to stabilize liquid discharges even for the execution of a multi-valued recording, but also, provide the heat generating resistive members and liquid flow paths in higher densities.

Substrate for use of ink jet head, ink jet head, ink jet cartridge, and ink jet recording apparatus

A method for forming through holes, which has laser beam as the light source to project the laser beam to the work object using an optical system through a photomask for the formation of through holes on the work object by ablation processing, comprises the steps of increasing the concentration of the optical processing energy contributing to the process using the reflected beam created from the work object in the laser ablation processing; and forming each of through holes having the configuration enabling the narrower end to be changed to the wider end in the incident direction of laser beam. With the structure thus arranged, it becomes possible to increase the energy concentration that contributes to the process as compared with the usual ablation processing, because the reflected beam created in the ablation processing can be utilized again for the optical processing. Then, each of the through holes can be formed easily in the configuration in which the narrower end changes to the wider end in the incident direction of laser beam, which cannot be easily processed by the application of the usual ablation processing.

An ink jet recording head comprising an element base having a plurality of energy generating elements for generating energy used for discharging ink, a grooved top plate having a plurality of grooves corresponding to the plurality of energy generating elements, being joined to the element base, and having a plurality of ink flow channels formed by the plurality of grooves on a joint area side to the element base, an orifice plate having a plurality of orifices having communication with the plurality of ink flow channels respectively and being mounted on the grooved top plate integrally, and a chip tank having supply passages for supplying ink to the plurality of ink flow channels.
