Among other things, systems to encourage compliance with hand washing procedures can include: an infrared emitter that projects a first infrared beam with a transverse cross-section having a first axis and a second axis that is shorter than the first axis, the transverse cross-section having a maximum length along the first axis, the infrared emitter modulating the first infrared beam to transmit a first identification signal; wherein the infrared emitter projecting the first infrared beam is placed such that the first axis of the transverse cross-section of the first infrared beam is substantially parallel to a boundary.

Hand cleanliness

A system is provided that provides guidance (e.g., audio content) to a user while exercising. This audio content is tailored to the particular user and is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the exercising. In some cases, the audio content conveyed to the user can be based on one or more sensors providing various metrics (e.g., heart rate, cadence, breathing rate, galvanic skin response, temperature etc.) regarding the real-time performance of the user. In some cases, the guidance to a user may be downloaded dynamically to the device by a specialized server or wireless connection. Fitness and wellness system with dynamically adjusting guidance

A Data Protection Server (DPS) configured to authenticate, encrypt and decrypt blocks of data by using dynamic tokens. Instances of a DPS may be deployed in association with a host server and with multiple client devices to protect data exchanged between them. Since each DPS instance typically requires minimal device storage and computational resources, use of a DPS may be particularly advantageous in connection with the protection of data generated by limited resources devices.

System and method for data protection using dynamic tokens

A data processing system having a plurality of subsystems linked by a star coupler. The star coupler includes contention circuitry for controlling the star coupler so that at any given time no more than one selected subsystem can pass a message through the star coupler. The contention circuitry uses a conventional priority encode circuit to determine the selected one of the subsystems, so that the first message to be received from one of the subsystems is the message passed or, if two or more messages are received from subsystems simultaneously, the message from the subsystem having the highest relative priority established by the priority encode circuit is the message passed. In an embodiment showing an expanded star coupler, the contention circuitry has plural first level contention circuits and a second level contention circuit, each using a conventional priority encode circuit.
