Embodiments included herein are directed towards sensing devices and related methods. Embodiments may include a first gauge positioned on a port of the sensing device. A first resistor of the first gauge may be positioned in a first compression region of the port. A second resistor of the first gauge may also be positioned in the first compression region of the port.

Sensing device with gauge

A force sensor, flexible sensing element, and method for the force sensor are disclosed. The force sensor uses a flexible sense element with two flexible arms dedicated to measuring strain related to a pitch force and two flexible arms dedicated to measuring strain related to roll force. The use of two channels for each measurement provides a command lane and a monitor lane for strain measurements. Strain gauges are disposed on both the top and the bottom surfaces of each arm, thus providing two completely redundant systems. When a failure is detected in one of the systems, the redundant system can be implemented.

Force sensor assembly

A pressure sensor apparatus for strain gauge pressure sensing includes a plurality of strain gauges including a first strain gauge and a second strain gauge. The pressure sensor apparatus also includes a diaphragm coupled between the plurality of strain gauges and an object configured to apply pressure to the diaphragm. The diaphragm has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion has a first thickness between the object and the first strain gauge. The second portion has a second thickness between the object and the second strain gauge. In an uncompressed state, the second thickness is greater than the first thickness.

Strain gauge type pressure sensing

An apparatus senses a pressure of a fluid from a fluid medium. The apparatus has a port body with a peripheral wall surrounding an interior channel. The interior channel extends between a diaphragm on the port body and an opening for receiving the fluid. A strain gauge is disposed on the port body. The strain gauge has two or more resistors connected between input/output pads and ground pads. The resistors are spaced substantially equidistant from the ground pad to reduce mobile ion migration.

An apparatus includes a sense element configured to be exposed to a pressure environment, the sense element including at least one highly doped semiconductor strain gauge, the highly doped semiconductor strain gauge including a five pad single full Wheatstone bridge, an electronics package disposed on a carrier and electrically coupled to the sense element, the carrier disposed on a port that comprises the sense element, a housing disposed about the sense element and electronics package, and a connector joined to the housing and electrically connected to the electronics package, the connector including an external interface.
