A power supply configured to supply a modulated voltage to a power amplifier is shown. The power supply has an alternating current (AC) component generator, a direct current (DC) component generator, and a transition accelerator. The AC component generator generates an AC component of the modulated voltage according to an envelope tracking signal. The DC component generator generates a DC component of the modulated voltage according to the operational voltage range of the power amplifier. The transition accelerator is coupled to an output terminal of the DC component generator to speed up the transition of the modulated voltage.

Power supply with envelope tracking modulation

A supply modulator, a modulated power supply circuit, and associated control method are provided. The modulated power supply circuit includes the supply modulator and a DC-DC voltage converter, and the supply modulator includes a linear amplifier and a switching converter. The linear amplifier generates an AC component of a modulated voltage according to a regulated voltage and an envelope tracking signal. The supply voltage is converted to the regulated voltage by the DC-DC voltage converter, and the regulated voltage is greater than or less than the supply voltage. The switching converter includes a step-down circuit and a path selection circuit. The path selection circuit selects one of the supply voltage and the regulated voltage as a DC input voltage. The step-down circuit converts the DC input voltage to a DC component of the modulated voltage which is less than the DC input voltage.

Supply modulator, modulated power supply circuit, and associated control method

A DC-DC converter includes an inductor, a switch module, and a pull-up circuit or a pull-down circuit. The inductor has a first node and a second node, and the second node is coupled to an output node of the DC-DC converter. The switch module is arranged for selectively connecting an input voltage or a ground voltage to the first node of the inductor according to a driving signal. The pull-up circuit is arranged for selectively providing a first current to the output node of the DC-DC converter. The pull-down circuit is arranged for selectively sinking a second current from the output node of the DC-DC converter. In addition, the first current or the second current is determined based on an inductor current flowing through the inductor.

DC-DC converter with pull-up or pull-down current and associated control method

Provided is a power supply circuit for a wireless mobile device having a plurality of power amplification components. The power supply circuit includes: a first DC-DC converter, for providing at least one constant output voltage (which is provided to the power amplification components) and/or at least one DC intermediate voltage; a second DC-DC converter, for providing a DC component of at least one time-varying output voltage; and at least one linear amplifier. When the at least one linear amplifier receives the at least one DC intermediate voltage from the first DC-DC converter, the at least one linear amplifier provides at least one AC component of the at least one time-varying output voltage. The DC component and the at least one AC component of the at least one time-varying output voltage are combined into the at least one time-varying output voltage and provided to the power amplification components.

Power supply circuit of wireless mobile device

A DC-DC converter includes an inductor, a switch module, a pull-up circuit and a pull-down circuit. The inductor has a first node and a second node, and the second node is coupled to an output node of the DC-DC converter. The switch module is arranged for selectively connecting an input voltage or a ground voltage to the first node of the inductor according to a driving signal. The pull-up circuit is arranged for selectively providing a first current to the output node of the DC-DC converter. The pull-down circuit is arranged for selectively sinking a second current from the output node of the DC-DC converter. In addition, at least one of the first current provided by the pull-up circuit and the second current sunk by the pull-down circuit is determined based on an inductor current flowing through the inductor.

DC-DC converter with pull-up and pull-down currents based on inductor current

A buck-boost converter includes an inductor, a first switch, a second switch, a third switch, a fourth switch and a fifth switch, wherein the first switch is coupled between an input voltage and a first terminal of the inductor, the second switch is coupled between a reference voltage and the first terminal of the inductor, the third switch is coupled between an output voltage and a second terminal of the inductor, the fourth switch is coupled between the reference voltage and the second terminal of the inductor, and the fifth switch is connected in parallel with the third switch. When the buck-boost converter operates in a buck mode, the first switch and the second switch are turned on alternately; when the buck-boost converter operates in a boost mode, the third switch and the fourth switch are turned on alternately; and the fifth switch is controlled by a mode control signal.
