A PSU including a primary side, including: a buck capacitor; and a PFC in electrical communication with the buck capacitor; a secondary side, including: a super capacitor; and a converter in electrical communication with an output of the primary side and in electrical communication with the super capacitor, wherein in a first state, the PFC receives energy from a source of energy, and in response: provides the energy to i) charge the buck capacitor based on a SOC of the buck capacitor, ii) charge the super capacitor based on a second SOC of the super capacitor; and iii) an IHS coupled to the PSU, wherein in a second state, the PFC ceases to receive energy from the source of energy and in response: the buck capacitor discharges to provide energy to the IHS; after the buck capacitor is completely discharged, the super capacitor discharges to provide energy to the IHS.

Extending hold-up time of a power supply unit

A multiple power supply system includes first and second power supply units. The first power supply unit provides a main output voltage while in a normal mode of operation. The first power supply unit includes a first bulk capacitor, and first standby power circuitry. The first standby power circuitry provides a standby voltage while the first power supply unit is in the normal mode of operation. The second power supply unit provides the main output voltage while in the normal mode of operation. The first power supply unit includes a second bulk capacitor, and second standby power circuitry. The second standby power circuitry provides the standby voltage while the first power supply unit is in the normal mode of operation, and enables reverse charging of the second bulk capacitor by the first power supply unit while the second power supply unit is in a reverse charging mode of operation.

System and method to increase a hold up time of a power supply unit

A power supply for an information handling system includes a rectifier circuit that is coupled to a power factor correction circuit. The power factor correction circuit includes a bulk capacitor. An extended hold-up capacitor is coupled in parallel to the bulk capacitor, via an electronic switch. The electronic switch has a first terminal coupled to the bulk capacitor and a second terminal coupled to the extended hold-up capacitor. A control circuit is coupled to a third terminal of the electronic switch and controls the operation of the electronic switch. An extended hold-up circuit is coupled to the extended hold-up capacitor and an output terminal of the power factor correction circuit. A digital signal controller is coupled to the extended hold-up circuit. The digital signal controller controls the operation of the extended hold-up circuit, and a DC to DC converter is coupled to the extended hold-up circuit.

Active droop current sharing among power supply units may regulate output currents of power supply units supplying shared current to a common load. The regulation may employ a combination of droop control and active current control. The shared current may be regulated such that each power supply unit provides a substantially equal share of the total current supplied. A current difference between two power supplies may be regulated to be within a desired maximum threshold for current difference.

Active droop current sharing among power supply units

Methods and systems for power supply unit (PSU) current sharing may include an In-System Power Monitoring and Management (IPMM) module monitoring an output value of a first power supply unit in a multi-power supply system. In an embodiment, the IPMM module may monitor an output value of a second power supply unit in the multi-power supply system. Additionally, the IPMM module may monitor an output performance parameter for the multi-power supply system. Furthermore, the IPMM module may adjust a setting of at least one of the first power supply unit and the second power supply unit for optimization of a current sharing performance parameter of the multi-power supply system. In various embodiments, the setting may include a droop voltage value, a distribution impedance value, or a set voltage increment value of at least one of the first power supply unit and the second power supply unit.

Method and system for power supply unit current sharing

Systems and methods for reducing the line frequency ripple in a resonant converter are described. In some embodiments, a power supply includes a switching network; an LLC resonant tank coupled to the switching network; a rectifier coupled to the LLC resonant tank; and a control circuit coupled to the switching network and to the rectifier, where the control circuit is configured to modify an operating frequency of the switching network to reduce a line frequency ripple at an output of the rectifier.

The face detection apparatus includes a rectangle integral image unit, a feature mapping unit and a cascade and score unit. The rectangle integral image unit provides a rectangle integral image according to an original image. The feature mapping unit determines a face candidate region according to rectangular face feature templates, and calculates feature values of the rectangular face feature templates according to the rectangle integral image. The cascade and score unit judges whether the face candidate region conforms to cascade conditions or not, and gives the face candidate region a score according to the feature values when the face candidate region conforms to the cascade conditions. The face candidate region is a non-face region if the score of the face candidate region is lower than a threshold value.

The facial expression recognition apparatus comprises a gray image generating unit, a face edge detection unit, a motion skin extraction unit, a face contour generating unit and a facial expression recognition unit. The motion skin extraction unit generates a motion skin extraction result according to the original image, and generates a face and background division result according to the motion skin extraction result. The facial expression recognition unit outputs a facial expression recognition result according to the face contour.

A buckling-up structure for latching a battery lid () to a casing () of a PDA is disclosed. The battery lid () is used for covering a battery accommodation groove (). The structure comprises a latching lock () forming a plurality of wedging hooks () thereon, a plurality of wedging hooks () on two sides of the battery lid (), respectively. An elastic body () is used to exert a pushing force to the latching lock. An operation button () is secured to the latching lock, whereby when the operation button is moved the latching lock and the elastic body move correspondingly. When the battery lid is locked to the casing, the wedging hooks () engage in recessing holes () of the casing, and the wedging hooks () engage with the wedging hooks (). To release the lock between the battery lid and the casing, the operation button is motivate to move the latching lock whereby the engagement between the wedging hooks () and the wedging hooks () is released; thus, the battery lid can be removed from the casing. A stylus accommodation groove () is formed in the casing between the battery accommodation groove and latching lock.

A protective cover with ternary structure applied in an electronic product comprises a conjoint plate, a flexible plate connected to the conjoint plate, and a fastening plate connected to the flexible plate. The fastening plate snaps the bottom cover for covering the expansion slot of the electronic product. Also, the conjoint plate, the flexible plate, and the fastening plate are integrated as a whole by double injection technique, and the flexibility of the flexible plate controls the protective cover being closed or opened.

A power switch apparatus is disclosed wherein the switch apparatus is applicable in an electronic product comprising a switch device capable of being switched between ON and OFF conditions. The power switch apparatus comprises an active element and a flexible arm. The active element installed inside the electronic product comprises a first connector and is coupled to the switch device. The ON and OFF conditions of the switch device correspond to the different positions of the active element. The flexible arm comprises a second connector and a contactor. The second connector is used to clip with the first connector at the ON condition. The electronic product is configured such that the contactor is not covered and remains accessible. The movement of the contactor is able to transform the shape of the flexible arm and to release the clipping relation between the first connector and the second connector.

Power switch apparatus

A computer system is disclosed which has a master, such as a processor, a memory, and I/O device, a first transfer path, which includes a bus, and a second transfer path, which includes a transfer interconnection. Transfers between the memory and the I/O device are effected via the first path while transfers between the processor and the I/O device are transferred via the second path. The disparate treatment between these two types of transfers reduces the likelihood that the transfer via the second path is delayed and thereby reduces the likelihood that the master is totally blocked from operation.
