A multi-view liquid crystal display for different users to watch different images from different viewing angles is provided. The multi-view liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel, a first backlight module and a second backlight module. The first backlight module is disposed below the liquid crystal display panel. The second backlight module is disposed between the first backlight module and the liquid crystal display panel. Furthermore, the first backlight module provides a first plane light source and the second backlight module provides a second plane light source. An included angle &#x3b1; formed between transmitting directions of the first and the second plane light sources ranges from 6 degrees to 176 degrees. Therefore, when different users watch the multi-view liquid crystal display which displays different images from different viewing angles, the resolutions of the images are the same as the resolution of the multi-view liquid crystal display panel.

Multi-view liquid crystal display and the driving method thereof

A liquid crystal display (LCD) is provided. The LCD includes a display panel and a voltage supply device (VSD). The display panel includes a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of data lines disposed substantially perpendicularly with the scan lines, and a plurality of pixels. The pixels are respectively electrically connected with the corresponding data line and the corresponding scan line, and are arranged in an array. Each of the pixels includes a common line and a compensation line, wherein the common line is located in the transparent area to receive a common voltage, and the compensation line is located in the reflection area to receive a stable voltage. The VSD is coupled to the compensation line of each of the pixels for continuously and correspondingly providing the stable voltage to the compensation line of each of the pixels.

A pixel structure of a transflective liquid crystal display panel. The pixel structure has single cell gap design, but a coupling capacitor and a modulating capacitor are properly connected to the reflection electrode so as to modulate the voltage of the reflection electrode. Consequently, the transmission region and reflection region of the pixel structure have substantially consistent gamma curves.

Pixel structure of a transflective liquid crystal display panel and method of making the same

A liquid crystal display panel comprises a color filter substrate, a thin film transistor array substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sealed between the two substrates. The color filter substrate has a plurality of first spacers and a plurality of second spacers thereon. The thin film transistor array substrate has a plurality of recesses for containing the second spacers. The ratio of the number of the second spacers to the number of the first spacers is between about 10 and about 90.

A pixel structure of a transflective LCD panel includes a substrate, a data line and a scan, a thin film transistor containing an extending electrode, a first common electrode and a second common electrode, a transmissive pixel electrode, and a reflective pixel electrode forming a first coupling capacitor with the extending electrode and a second coupling capacitor with the second common electrode. The first and second common electrodes and the data line overlap with each other in an overlapping area, wherein the first common electrode is disposed between the second common electrode and the data line.

Liquid crystal display panels including recesses for majority of spacers

The provided backlight module includes a reflection sheet, a retardation plate, a light-guide plate, a light source, and a sub-wavelength grating plate. The retardation plate is set over the reflection sheet. The light-guide plate is disposed over the retardation plate, and the surface of the light-guide plate comprises a plurality of micro-structures. The light source is set beside the light-guide plate, and the light from the light source transferring into the light-guide plate passes through one of its end and out through the micro-structures. The sub-wavelength grating plate is disposed over the light-guide plate: (i) to transmit light having a polarization oriented parallel to the rows of bars and to define a transmitted light, corresponding to the light, as P-ray, and (ii) to reflect light having a polarization oriented perpendicular to the rows of bars and to define a reflected light, corresponding to the light, as S-ray.
