According to one or more embodiments, a network node for controlling transmit power is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to estimate a derivative of time-averaged transmit power of the network node, determine that the estimated derivative meets a first threshold, and trigger at least one action to limit the time-averaged transmit power of the network node based on the determination that the estimated derivative meets the first threshold.

The method also includes determining a total power at each of a plurality of times within a window for each of the plurality of spatial directions, the total power being based at least in part on a weighted sum of products of a beamforming gain and a downlink power allocated to a wireless device in each of the plurality of spatial directions. The method further includes determining an average of the total power within the window to produce an average power; computing a control signal based on the average power and a threshold; and controlling the transmitted total power according to the control signal by limiting a fraction of scheduled physical resource blocks to an upper limit.

In some embodiments, a method performed by a base station comprises obtaining one or more parameters comprising one or more measurements of channel dispersiveness of a wireless channel between the base station and a User Equipment (UE), an uplink (UL) power-limited status of the UE, and/or an allocation bandwidth for the UE. There is provided mechanisms for controlling total average transmission power of a radio base station. A method is performed by a control device. The method comprises performing, for a current discrete time value t, control of total average transmission power {P}(t) of the radio base station according to a back-off power control loop. The total average transmission power {P}(t) is computed over an averaging time window T of the present value of momentary transmission power and the N−1 values of momentary transmission power preceding the present value of momentary transmission power. The method comprises evaluating, for a future discrete time value less than, or equal to, t+T, the total average transmission power, assuming that values of momentary transmission power for all discrete time values from t up to t+T, starting at the next discrete time value t+1, is limited to a minimum value of said momentary transmission power. The method comprises limiting the momentary transmission power to the minimum value for at least the next future discrete time value when the evaluated total average transmission power, for any of the future discrete time values, exceeds a power threshold value based on a regulatory limit.

The method includes obtaining a set of input features, each input feature being one of: i) a reported load value that was reported by a target base station to a source base station and ii) a derived load value derived using the reported load value; obtaining a set of output features, each output feature being a determined load value determined by the source base station, wherein each output feature is associated with a single one of the input features; and determining, using the set of input features and the set of output features, a set of one or more parameters for a mathematical model for determining a corrected load value based on one or more load values provided by the target base station.

The embodiments herein provide a method and apparatus for scheduling users of a communication system, based on an advantageous pre-scheduling scheme. As a first scheduler process during a current scheduling interval, first users selected for scheduling in the current scheduling interval are regularly scheduled to thereby make radio resource reservations for the first users. As a second scheduler process during the current scheduling interval, second users not among the first users are identified as having scheduling deadlines falling in a subsequent scheduling interval. As a further operation of the second scheduler process, the second users for the subsequent scheduling interval are prescheduled to thereby make radio resource reservations in the subsequent scheduling interval for the second users. The second scheduling may be performed using processing resources that would otherwise be left idle by the first scheduler process during the current scheduling interval.

Predictive downlink scheduling

A method and system for allocating PDCCH resources in a wireless communication system are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes detecting at a first base station a condition of inter-cell interference, ICI, between a first cell and a neighboring cell, indicating that the first cell is in a coordination need state. The method includes generating at the first base station serving the first cell a request to lower a first PDCCH load of the neighboring cell to reduce the ICI between the first cell and the neighboring cell, a PDCCH load of a cell being defined as a ratio of used resource elements to total available resource elements within the cell.

A system and method of receiving a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) is presented. At a user equipment, a first CSI-RS transmitted from a base station is received. In some implementations, the first CSI-RS is transmitted at a first periodicity using a first set of antenna ports. At the user equipment, a second CSI-RS transmitted from the base station is received. In some implementations, the second CSI-RS is transmitted at a second periodicity using a second set of antenna ports. A method of operating an eNB in a wireless communication network is provided.
