A fungicidal composition containing, as active ingredients, (a) a benzoylpyridine derivative represented by the following formula or its salt: wherein X is a halogen atom, a nitro group, a substitutable hydrocarbon group, a substitutable alkoxy group, a substitutable aryloxy group, a substitutable cycloalkoxy group, a hydroxyl group, a substitutable alkylthio group, a cyano group, a carboxyl group which may be esterified or amidated, or a substitutable amino group, n is 1, 2, 3 or 4; Ris a substitutable alkyl group, Ris a substitutable alkyl group, a substitutable alkoxy group, a substitutable aryloxy group, a substitutable cycloalkoxy group or a hydroxyl group, p is 1, 2 or 3, and Ris a substitutable alkoxy group or a hydroxyl group, provided that at least two of Rand Roptionally form a condensed ring containing an oxygen atom and (b) at least one other fungicide.

Fungicidal composition and method for controlling plant diseases

It is to provide a fungicidal composition having stable and high fungicidal effects against cultivated crops infected with plant diseases resulting from plant diseases. Process for producing trifluoromethylpyridines

A pyridine derivative having the formula ##STR1## wherein X.sup.2 and Y.sup.2 represents hydrogen atom or chlorine atom is produced by reacting a pyridine compound having the formula ##STR2## wherein X.sup.1 and Y.sup.1 represent hydrogen atom or chlorine atom, with chlorine and anhydrous hydrogen fluoride by a vapor phase reaction in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature of 250.degree. to 600.degree. Process for producing a .beta.-trifluoromethylpyridine

1-Bromo-3,5-dichlorobenzene is produced in high efficiency by a special isomerization of monobromodichlorobenzene in the presence of an aluminum halide and separating the object product and recycling a residue. 1-Bromo-3,5-dichlorobenzene is useful intermediates for various agricultural chemicals, dyes and medicines.

Pyridine derivatives having a trifluoromethyl group at .beta.-position thereof are produced by reacting .beta.-picoline with chlorine and hydrogen fluoride in a vapor phase at high temperature for a short time. The pyridine derivatives useful as starting materials for agricultural chemicals and medicines can be continuously obtained by a simple reaction at high yield.

Process for producing pyridine derivatives having a trifluoromethyl

A chloro .beta.-trifluoromethylpyridine is produced by reacting a chloro .beta.-trichloromethylpyridine with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a specific metal fluoride in a vapor phase at high temperature for a short time. The chloro .beta.-trifluoromethylpyridines which are useful as intermediates for agricultural chemicals and medicines can be obtained at high yield.

3,5-Dichloroaniline is advantageously produced by reacting 1-bromo-2,4-dichlorobenzene with a metal amide in liquid ammonia at a molar ratio of 1-bromo-2,4-dichlorobenzene to the metal amide of 1 : 2 to 7. The 3,5-dichloroaniline is useful as an intermediate for various agricultural chemicals, dyes and medicines.
