An ink sheet cartridge includes a cartridge body. The cartridge body has a pair of side plates, a partitioning plate, and a cover segment together defining a frame shape with an central open space. When the ink sheet cartridge is accommodated to a facsimile device, a thermal head and a platen are positioned at the central open space. Also, the partitioning plate serves as a lower transport chute defining a transport path with an upper chute members, so that a recording sheet is transported along the transport path.

There is provided an image forming apparatus which can control reciprocation of a carriage and paper feed in a highly accurate manner and form an image of high quality even when paper skews or paper of a different type from that of the paper set is supplied. An ink jet printer () provided with a motion sensor () in a carriage () determines the type of paper (P) by using a paper position signal output by the motion sensor () and changes printing conditions in accordance with the type of paper. Also, the ink jet printer () calculates a moving amount of the carriage (), a feed amount and a deviation amount of the paper (P), and controls the reciprocation of the carriage () and the feeding of the paper (P) based on calculated values.

Image forming apparatus

An image forming device that is capable of performing transfer of paper constantly in a highly accurate manner, irrespective of types or conditions of paper. The image forming device is provided with a motion sensor in a paper transfer path thereof for detecting the surface condition of an idle roller moving in accordance with the paper, and transfer of the paper is controlled on the basis of surface condition signals generated by the motion sensor. The motion sensor makes laser light, which is irradiated by a semiconductor laser, hit on an outer peripheral surface of the idle roller that rotates accompanying the transfer of paper and the reflected light is received by a two-dimensional semiconductor image sensor. Then, the surface condition signals are detected on the basis of speckle patterns generated in the reflected light.

The first rotation member is undetachably engaged with the shaft member within a support hole formed to the cartridge body while interposing a side plate between the transmission gear and the flange. An intermediate connector includes resilient pawls and projections for engaging respective mating groves and locking grooves formed to a takeup-side core tube, and is engaged with the flange of the shaft member 48.

An image forming device capable of reducing transfer errors of paper even when the transfer amount of paper cannot be detected accurately. The image forming device is provided with a motion sensor, and calculates the transfer amount of paper using signals output by the motion sensor. It is determined whether or not the transfer amount is within a predetermined normal range. If it is determined that the transfer amount is within the normal range, a paper transfer amount control value is set to the calculated transfer amount, while if it is determined that the transfer amount is outside the range, the paper transfer amount control value is set to a preliminarily set standard transfer amount. The image forming device controls the transfer of paper based on the above paper transfer amount control value.

A paper transfer assembly is provided which includes a p reversibly rotatable drive motor, a paper transfer roller for transferring a paper, a first transmission mechanism connected to the paper transfer roller, and a second transmission mechanism separate from the first transmission mechanism. The second transmission mechanism may be used to drive a cutter device for automatically cutting the paper. Alternatively, the second transmission mechanism may be utilized for reversely moving the paper by providing a reversal mechanism for connecting the first transmission mechanism and the second transmission mechanism.

Paper transfer assembly, and image reading and/or recording apparatus incorporating the same

An image recording apparatus for recording an image on an image receiving sheet with use of a photosensitive microcapsule sheet on which microcapsules being photohardenable upon exposure and being hardened by heating are applied, is disclosed. The image recording apparatus comprises an exposing means for rendering the microcapsules hardenable upon exposure thereby, a heating means for forming a latent image on the photosensitive sheet by heating the exposed hardenable microcapsules, a feeding means for feeding the photosensitive sheet to the image receiving sheet through a feeding path and a pressure means for transferring the latent image on the image receiving sheet by pressurizing both photosensitive sheet and the image receiving sheet in superposing the sheets. In such the image recording apparatus, the feeding means is located downstream the heating means on the feeding path. According to the image recording apparatus, since the feeding means is arranged downstream the heating means on the feeding path in the present invention, the microcapsules on the photosensitive sheet are never unnecessarily ruptured by the feeding means before the exposed photosensitive sheet is heated by the heating means. Accordingly, the image with good quality can be formed on the image receiving sheet without injuring the formed image to unnecessarily rupture the microcapsules applied on the photosensitive sheet.

Image recording apparatus

An image recording apparatus having an exposure unit, a pressure developing unit and a thermal fixing unit. The apparatus employs a separate type image recording mediums including a microcapsule sheet and a separate developer sheet. The thermal fixing unit applies heat to the developer sheet carrying an output image thereon. A heat application means of the thermal fixing unit is positioned spaced away from the imaging surface of the developer sheet for avoding direct contact therewith.

A light-and pressure-sensitive recording sheet and an original, overlapping each other, are introduced into an image forming apparatus, and are exposed to radiation on a transparent drum by means of a light source in the drum, whereupon a latent image, based on the contents of the original, is formed on the recording sheet. Then, the recording sheet is separated from the original by means of a separator, and is passed between a pair of pressure rolls. When the recording sheet is exposed, microcapsules thereon change their hardness. These microcapsules are ruptured selectively by pressure applied to the sheet. As a result, a chromogenic material, contained in the microcapsules, and a developer material, on the surface of a substrate of the recording sheet, react with each other, so that the sheet surface changes its color. Thus, the latent image is developed to accomplish copying in accordance with the original.

In a pressure developing device employed in an imaging device like a duplicating machine, an optical printer etc., pressure force for evenly pressurizing a recording medium is capable of being varied in accordance with the width of the recording medium to be pressurized.
