A connector body includes mating guide parts formed on each longitudinal end and mating with counterpart mating guide parts formed on both longitudinal ends of a counterpart connector body of a counterpart connector. Each reinforcing bracket includes a pair of left/right slide guides disposed on the mating guide parts and being engageable with a pair of left/right slide engagement parts of a counterpart reinforcing bracket mounted to a counterpart mating guide part. One reinforcing bracket further includes a receiving member capable of emerging/submerging. When the counterpart mating guide part is mated with the mating guide part, the receiving member submerges. When the slide engagement part engages with the slide guide and the counterpart mating guide part slides on the mating guide part, the receiving member emerges and latches the counterpart mating guide part.

Connector and connector assembly

An electrical connector assembly includes a receptacle connector having a dielectric housing with a mating receptacle portion and at least one conductive receptacle terminal mounted on the housing. The receptacle terminal has contact portions spaced apart generally at opposite sides of the receptacle portion. A plug connector includes a dielectric housing having a mating plug portion insertable into the receptacle portion of the receptacle connector in a mating direction. The plug portion is smaller than the receptacle portion in a direction transverse to the mating direction to provide a range of floating movement between the connectors. At least one conductive plug terminal is mounted on the housing of the plug connector and has resilient contact portions maintained in constant engagement with the spaced apart contact portions of the receptacle terminal throughout the entire range of the floating movement.

An electrical connector includes an insulating housing defining a longitudinal axis with two rows of terminal-receiving passages generally on opposite sides of the axis. The passages are alternatingly staggered along the axis, with adjacent sides of the passages in the two rows thereof overlapping along the axis. A plurality of conductive terminals are received in the passages. Each terminal includes a relatively wide body portion with a relatively narrow contact portion projecting from one side of the body portion. The terminals are disposed in the passages in alternating orientations longitudinally of the axis, whereby the contact portions of the terminals are disposed in the overlapping sides of the passages to define a single row of contact portions longitudinally of the axis.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector assembly includes a plug connector having a plug portion received by a receptacle portion of a receptacle connector. The receptacle portion is larger than the plug portion to provide for floating movement between the connectors in &ldquo;x&rdquo; and &ldquo;y&rdquo; directions transverse to the mating direction of the connectors. Oblique terminal portions on one of the connectors create force vectors opposite the mating direction to provide floating movement between the connectors in the mating direction automatically in response to mating of the connectors.

The card reader connector for a SIM card comprising an insulative body and a cover pivotably mounted on pivot pins of the insulative body for movement between an open and closed position wherein contact portions of terminals mounted in the insulative body electrically connect with contacts of the card when the cover is in the closed position. The cover is slidably movable in a direction perpendicular to an axis of the pivot pins. A locking means is provided between the cover and the insulative body comprising an L-shaped engaging piece on the insulative body and a corresponding actuating piece on the cover which interengage when the cover is in its closed position to lock the cover to the insulative body. A leaf spring biases the cover in a direction away from the insulative body. The connector is characterized in that when the cover is moved to its closed position, it is slidably moved rearwardly, toward the axis of the pivot pins, to produce a spring force. Therefore, when the cover is in its closed position, it is in a fully locked position by the resilient spring force imparted by the leaf spring. The card reader connector therefore facilitates insertion and removal of the card and maintains its integrity and robustness irrespective of its small size.

Card reader connector

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, with a plurality of terminals mounted in the housing. A metal shell is disposed about at least a portion of the housing. The shell has a given thickness and opposed ends forming a joint. The opposed ends are overlapped at the joint. Each overlapped end has a reduced thickness less than the given thickness of the metal shell. Preferably, the combined thickness of the overlapped ends is substantially equal to the given thickness of the metal shell.

Disclosed is an improved electric connector having pin-terminals press-fit in an 'L'-shaped housing. The vertical wall of the housing comprises a first longitudinal support beam and a lateral arrangement of first flexible joints, which are separated by first slits and integrally connected to the first longitudinal support beam. The horizontal floor of the housing comprises a second longitudinal support beam, a lateral arrangement of second flexible joints, which are separated by second slits, and are integrally connected to the second longitudinal support beam and a lateral arrangement of terminal holding sleeves, each sleeve having a terminal receiving aperture. The terminal holding sleeves are integrally connected both to the first joints of the vertical wall and the second joints of the horizontal floor, thus lying therebetween. The 'L' shaped housing structure gives the electric connector good mechanical strength while allowing the terminal holding sleeves to the displaced laterally, thereby absorbing any stresses appearing between the pin-terminals and selected conductors of the printed circuit, which stresses otherwise would cause the peeling-off or cracking in soldered portions.
