A blade of a hair removal device according to the present disclosure includes a fixed blade having a fixed blade bar and a fixed blade groove, and a movable blade having a movable blade bar and a movable blade groove. The movable blade bar is formed such that a bar width in a reciprocating sliding direction is larger than a groove width of the fixed blade groove in the reciprocating sliding direction. In the fixed blade bar, a bar width in the reciprocating sliding direction is larger than a groove width of the movable blade groove in the reciprocating sliding direction. In the fixed blade groove and the movable blade groove, a blade groove angle at least on an opening side is a positive angle with an intersection positioned on a depth side. This configuration provides a blade of a hair removal device capable of suppressing deformation.

Each of the slits includes: a first slit portion; a second slit portion positioned in a displaced manner from the first slit portion in a length direction of the outer blade; and a connecting slit portion connecting the first slit portion to the second slit portion. A displacement width in the length direction of the outer blade between the first slit portion and the second slit portion is set equal to or larger than at least one of widths of connecting portions of the first slit portion and the second slit portion connected to the connecting slit portion.

This electric shaver has outer blades, inner blades, an inner-blade joint component, and skin-entry prevention parts. The outer blades have outer-blade holes. The inner blades have main inner-blade walls, multiple blade pieces, inner-blade holes, and internal inner-blade spaces. The inner blades move back and forth relative to the outer blades so as to cut hair that has entered through the outer-blade holes. The main inner-blade walls are connected to the inner-blade joint component. The internal inner-blade spaces are bounded by the main inner-blade walls and the multiple blade pieces. The skin-entry prevention parts are located inside the internal inner-blade spaces, at positions that correspond to the inner-blade holes, and are structured so as to contact skin that has entered the internal inner-blade spaces via the inter-blade holes.

Electric shaver

An electric shaver includes: a main body; an outer blade provided to an end of the main body and having a blade hole defined by a bar; and an inner blade provided inward of the outer blade and configured to reciprocate in a longitudinal direction of the outer blade to cut hair in the blade hole with the outer blade. The bar has a hair raising portion coming in contact with hair upon movement of the outer blade on a skin surface to raise hair up from the skin surface. A contact pressure on the skin surface to be exerted by the outer blade in a first portion of the outer blade is greater than that in a second portion of the outer blade. Hair raising performance in raising hair up from the skin surface in the first portion is smaller than hair raising performance in the second portion.

A razor blade is provided, which achieves improved safety in use and reduced cutting resistance to an object to be cut such as beard and hair, as compared with conventional razor blades. This razor blade can be obtained by using, as a silicon thin sheet, a single crystal silicon material such as Si wafer or a polycrystalline silicon material including relatively large silicon crystal grains, forming at least one opening in the silicon thin sheet by chemical etching, and forming a cutting edge made of silicon single crystal by ion beam etching without machining such that the cutting edge projects into the opening and has a nose radius of 0.5 &#x3bc;m or less, and preferably 0.1 &#x3bc;m or less.

Razor blade

An inner cutter for a dry shaver is fabricated from a metal plate to have a plurality of blades each provided with cutting edges. The metal plate includes a plurality of parallel straight slits to leave an array of straight beams each defined between the adjacent ones of the slits. The beams are forged and ground at a segment of each beam to give the cutting edges thereto. After making the cutting edges, the metal plate is bent into a generally U-shaped configuration so as to correspondingly curve the beams and shape the beams into the blades having the arcuate contour and the cutting edges. The metal plate is provided with a joint for connection with a driving source of moving the inner cutter relative to an outer cutter.

Method of manufacturing inner blade for electric razor

A blade of an electric shaver is disclosed. The blade includes an interior blade detachably attached to a drive element of the electric shaver via an interior blade pushing-up means. The interior blade includes a horizontal surface, a vertical surface, and a relief surface provided between the horizontal surface and the vertical surface, and is elastically pushed upward by the interior blade pushing-up means. The blade further includes a sheet-shaped exterior blade having a plurality of blade apertures. A bottom surface of the exterior blade is elastically contacted with the horizontal surface of the interior blade by a pushing force of the interior blade pushing-up means. Upon driving the drive element, the interior blade is moved laterally such that the horizontal surface of the interior blade rubs against the bottom surface of the exterior blade, and hair introduced into the blade aperture of the exterior blade is held between the horizontal surface of the interior blade and the exterior blade in accordance with a lateral movement of the interior blade and cut by an edge of the exterior blade.

An intermetallic-compound coated stainless steel having excellent rigidity, toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance comprises a substrate of a martensite stainless steel having a Vickers hardness of 400 or more, and a hard film having a bottom surface adhered to the substrate and an exposed top surface. The hard film has an outermost layer made of a compound selected from the group consisting of a Ti&mdash;Ni intermetallic compound, Ti&mdash;Fe intermetallic compound, and a mixture of the Ti&mdash;Ni intermetallic compound and a Ti&mdash;Cu intermetallic compound. The coated stainless steel can be produced by cladding an outer sheet made of Ti or a Ti alloy to a martensite stainless steel sheet directly or through an intermediate sheet made of Ni, Fe or a Ni&mdash;Cu alloy, heating the laminate at a temperature of 900&deg; C. to 1150&deg; C. for 30 seconds to 5 minutes, and then cooling the heated laminate at a cooling rate of 1&deg; C./sec or more.

Stainless steel coated with intermetallic compound and process for producing the same

A cutting device for an electric shaver comprising an outer cutter and a plurality inner blades that are made of a ferrous alloy comprising a substrate of an Fe-Cr stainless steel and a hardened layer of improved hardness and wear resistance. The substrate has a Vickers hardness of 400 or more. The hardened layer has a Vickers hardness of at least 700 and a thickness of 2 to 15 .mu.m. In particular, it is preferred that the hardened layer is a diffusion layer comprising at least 90 vol % of intermetallic compounds of Al and Fe relative to a total volume of the diffusion layer, and Al content included within a depth of at least 2 .mu.m of the diffusion layer is 35 to 65% by weight based upon total weight of a region of the diffusion layer ranging up to the thickness of at least 2 .mu.m. When the ferrous alloy is polished to form the outer cutter and inner blades, it is possible to provide sharp cutting edges of the outer cutter and inner blades, while preventing the occurrence of burrs or micro-chippings at the cutting edges.

Cutter combination for an electric shaver

An electrode of a discharge lamp which has an improved adhesion between an emitter material and a filament is formed in accordance with the following method. That is, a Fe-Cr-Al alloy is used as the filament. The filament is placed in a heated oxidizing environment to precipitate an aluminum oxide layer uniformly in a surface thereof. Thus precipitated aluminum oxide layer has good adhesion with the filament without flaking thereof. The aluminum oxide layer is coated with triple carbonates consisting of barium carbonate, calcium carbonate and strontium carbonate, so that a carbonate coated filament is obtained. And then, the coated filament is heated in vacuum to reduce the carbonates to their alkaline earth oxides of the emitter material, and also to form a complex oxide consisting of the aluminum oxide and the alkaline earth oxides. Adhesion between the emitter material and the aluminum oxide layer is improved by the formation of the complex oxide, so that a lamp life of the discharge lamp is remarkably increased. On the other hand, since the Fe-Cr-Al alloy has a much higher specific resistance value than tungsten, the discharge lamp using the filament of the Fe-Cr-Al alloy can be operated by a small current, which in turn enables a lamp driving circuit to be reduced in size and weight.
