A vapor lock in a fuel pump can be prevented by reducing the formation of vapor within the fuel. A first group of concavities may be formed in an inner circumferential region of an intake side face of an impeller, and a second group of concavities may be formed concentrically in a region outside of the first group of concavities. A third group of concavities that communicates with the second group of concavities may be formed in a discharge side face of the impeller. The impeller is housed within a casing. A first groove that faces the first group of concavities and a second groove that faces the second group of concavities may be formed in the face of the casing that faces the intake side face of the impeller. A third groove that faces the third group of concavities may be formed in the face of the casing that faces the discharge side face of the impeller.

Fuel pump having low operating noise

A filter for an in-tank type fuel pump. The filter comprises a frame, a bag type screen adapted to be kept in an expanded condition by the frame, and a flat protector to be interposed between the screen and a bottom surface of the fuel tank. The protector is attached to the screen substantially at the central portion of the protector in the longitudinal direction thereof, so that it may be pressed against the tank bottom surface by a small deflecting force of the screen. This construction is effective to cause less transmission of noise of the pump to the tank.

Filter system for an in-tank fuel pump

A filter for an in-tank pump of an automobile fuel tank includes a flat bag-shaped filter body, a connector body and a suction nozzle. The filter body has a closed front end and a rear end wall and includes a mesh member and a filter frame having a plurality of longitudinal and lateral ribs formed on the upper and lower portions thereof. The connector body includes a cylindrical attachment for attaching the filter body to a suction port of an in-tank pump and an end plate joined to an outer surface of the rear end wall of the filter body. The suction nozzle is attached to the end plate of the connector body so that it communicates with the cylindrical attachment and thrusts into the filter body. The suction nozzle is made of a deformable material and formed into a mesh cylinder having a closed forward end disposed within the filter body at a position of the closed front end of the filter body.

Filter for in-tank pump of automobile fuel tank

A motor-driven fuel pump including a cylindrical housing; a pump section fixedly mounted at one end portion of the housing so as to close the one end portion; a motor section mounted in the housing for driving the pump section; and a cover member fixedly mounted at the other end portion of the housing so as to close the other end portion by caulking an end of the housing; wherein an outer end surface of the cover member projects outwardly from the caulked end of the housing to increase a wall thickness of the cover member without increasing a total length of the housing, whereby a sound from the motor section is reduced.

Motor-driven fuel pump

A filter adapted to be connected to a suction hole of an intank pump provided in a tank for storing a liquid and adapted to pump the liquid out of the tank. The filter includes a mesh bag and an elastic frame surrounded by the mesh bag for elastically pressing a lower portion of the mesh bag against a bottom inner surface of the tank. The elastic frame is formed with a flat plate adapted to uniformly press the lower portion of the mesh bag against the bottom inner surface of the tank. Accordingly, local wearing of the mesh bag due to the pressure applied thereto by the frame can be prevented.

Filter for intank pump

A fuel pump including an impeller having a plurality of vanes at an outer circumference thereof and a well member surrounding the vanes and formed with a fuel grooves to define a pump chamber, wherein a portion of an edge of the fuel groove intersecting the vanes is chamfered. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce an impeller noise caused by the sudden shearing of the fuel flow in the pump chamber when the vanes of the impeller cross the edge of the fuel groove, thereby greatly improving the silentness in an automobile compartment.

A system for reducing discharge of fuel vapor from a fuel tank of an internal combustion engine to the atmosphere. The system has only one canister which is connected at one side to a top portion of the tank and to the neck of the refueling opening portion of the tank by separate channels, and which is connected at its other side to a suction system of the engine by a purge channel. The system also has three-way electromagnetic valves which are respectively disposed in the channel connected to the neck of the refueling opening portion and in the purge channel, thereby controlling the flows of fuel vapor and purging air.

System for reducing discharge of fuel vapor from fuel tank to atmosphere

A system for preventing loss of fuel due to evaporation in internal combustion engine, particularly in automotive engine. The system has a casing accommodating a fuel gas absorbent. A separator chamber adapted to separate the liquid phase and gaseous phase of the fuel from each other is disposed in a passage through which a tank port leading from a fuel tank is communicated with the absorbent. The passage is so constructed as to permit only the gaseous phase of the fuel to be sent to the absorbent.

System for preventing loss of fuel due to evaporation

A fuel evaporation preventing device has a casing, an absorbent filling the casing and adapted to absorb the fuel vapor, a fuel vapor introduction pipe having one end embedded in the layer of the absorbent, and a flow deflector opening towards the fuel vapor introduction pipe. The flow deflector has a plurality of box-shaped pleats defining a plurality of slits extending vertically, so that the fuel vapor is distributed over wide area in the canister to permit greater part of the absorbent to take part in the absorption and release of the fuel vapor.

Fuel evaporation preventing device

A device for controlling evaporative emission from an automobile, which device comprises, a casing accommodating fuel gas absorbing agents, a tank port adapted to communicate with a fuel tank of the automobile and having a first check valve for permitting the flow of fuel gas from the fuel tank into the casing, and a purge port adapted to communicate with an internal combustion engine and having a second check valve for permitting the flow of fuel gas from the casing to the engine. Each of the check valves of the first and second check valves comprises a check ball of metal, and a valve seat engaging with the check ball and being made of thin metal plate formed in one body with a reinforcement of plastic.
