An aqueous suspension liquid of finely divided diamond particles comprising 0.05 to 160 parts by weight of a finely divided diamond particles in 1000 parts of water, wherein; (i) the finely divided diamond particles have an element composition consisting mainly of 72 to 89.5% by weight of carbon, 0.8 to 1.5% of hydrogen, 1.5 to 2.5% of nitrogen, and 10.5 to 25.0% of oxygen; (ii) and, almost all of said diamond particles are in the range of 2 mu to 50 nm in diameters thereof (80% or more by number average, 70% or more by weight average), (iii) and, said finely divided diamond particles exhibit a strongest peak of the intensity of the Bragg angle at 43.9&#xb0; (20&#xb1;20), strong and characteristic peaks at 73.5&#xb0; (20&#xb1;20) and 95&#xb0; (20&#xb1;2&#xb0;), a warped halo at 17' (20&#xb1;2&#x2032;), and no peak at 26.5&#xb0;, by X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrum analysis using Cu-Ku radiation when dried, (iv) and, specific surface area of said diamond particles when dry state powder is not smaller than 1.50&#xd7;105 m2/kg, and substantially all the surface carbon atoms of said particles are bonded with hetero atoms, and the total absorption space of said powder is 0.5 m3/kg or more, when dried. The diamond particles are very active and dispersible in aqueous liquid in stable, and have essentially same mechanical properties as that of usual diamonds.

There is provided a metal thin film comprising a metal plate and a diamond particle dispersed in the metal plate. According to the present invention, the metal thin film has a film thickness of 5 nm to 35000 nm. The diamond particle is dispersed almost homogeneously over the direction of the film thickness of the metal thin film. The metal thin film has the diamond particle at a concentration of 1 to 12%. According to the present invention, based on conversion into an equivalent circle, the diamond particle has a first particle size distribution with respect to a first particle of a first particle size of 16 nm or less, at a first number average existence rate of 50% or more; the diamond particle has a second particle size distribution with respect to a second particle having a second particle size of 50 nm or more, at a second number average existence rate of substantially 0%; and the diamond particle has a third particle size distribution with respect to a third particle having a third particle size of 2 nm or less, at a third number average existence rate of substantially 0%.

A biaxially oriented polyester film containing fine particles of insoluble inert substance, has a kinetic coefficient of friction of not more than 0.3, and has microscopic protrusions integrated thereto, said protrusion having an peak-to-valley height of not more than 1 micron mostly range of 0.2 to 0.5 micron. The film having improved slipperiness is useful as the base film of magnetic recording tape for a video tape recorder or a computer data storage.

A stretch-oriented laminate polyester film consisting of two or three layers of polyester films; both polyester film A and polyester film B which form the external layers of the laminate film are composed of a polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.35 to 1.0, wherein the intrinsic viscosity of a polyester forming the polyester film B is 0.02 to 0.5 greater than that of a polyester forming the polyester film A. The laminate film is curled in the widthwise direction with the polyester film B located inwardly of the curl. This film can be used for various applications, especially as a measuring tape, an adhesive tape and a base of a photographic film. As a preferred embodiment, a laminate polyester magnetic tape with reduced drop-out occurrence, comprising the stretch-oriented laminate film and a magnetic layer coated on one external layer thereof, the polyester film A forming one external layer of the laminate film having incorporated therein a finely-divided inert compound so that its coefficient of static friction becomes not more than 0.80, and the polyester film B forming the other external layer of the laminate film being a film having a coefficient of static friction greater than that of the polyester film A by at least 0.05 and a smoother surface, with the magnetic layer being coated on the surface of the polyester film B is disclosed.
