The objective of this invention is to provide a type of data processing device and a type of data recording/reproduction device that can restart data write processing correctly from an interruption position after data write processing on a recording medium is interrupted. When write is interrupted, prescribed information that indicates the tail of the data written before said interruption is obtained from the written data. When write is restarted, first, data read processing is started. From the read data, the tail of the write data before said interruption is determined based on said obtained information. Then, data write processing is restarted and connected to said determined tail of the write data. In write clock signal generating part (), write clock signal CKlocked to the phase of read clock signal CKis generated. Consequently, it is possible to suppress discontinuity in the connection of write in company with switching from read processing to write processing.

Optical disk data processing device and data recording/reproduction device having interruption and restart of write processing on the recording medium

A Reed-Solomon encoding device is provided that can handle multiple RS (Reed-Solomon) codes using different field generation polynomials. The encoding device uses a first Galois field transformation that transforms source data into a specified Galois field on the basis of a first Galois field transformation parameter. The transformed source data is received by an encoder that performs encoding processing using a selected multiplication coefficient set. A second Galois field transformation is used for performing an inverse transform of the encoded data on the basis of a second Galois field transformation parameter. A parameter output is used for outputting the first Galois field transformation parameter, the second Galois field transformation parameter, and the selected multiplication coefficient set. The parameter output generator is operable to be loaded with transformation parameters and multiplication coefficients selected from a plurality of transformation parameters and multiplication coefficients.

Method and apparatus of Reed-Solomon encoding-decoding

When the coding of the Galois field GF (2 ) is performed, in the input-side transformation circuit , the Galois field of the input data is transformed from GF (2 ) into GF (2 ). In RS coding/decoding core unit , an operation is then performed on Galois field GF (2 ) to generate the coding data. In output-side transformation circuit , the coding data are transformed from GF (2 ) into GF ( m). In RS coding/decoding core unit , a multiplier corresponding to Galois field GF (2 ) is set.

Reed-Solomon decoding device

A Reed Solomon decoder which can perform high-speed decoding operation without significantly increasing the circuit scale. The Reed Solomon decoder includes the following: input parameter operator,which generates syndrome and erasure data for a data sequence, decoding operation processing unit,which performs the decoding operation using the aforementioned syndrome and erasure data based on the command code indicating the prescribed decoding operation, and which generates the error data and error position data, and correction operation executor,which performs the correction operation using the aforementioned error data and error position data. The decoding operation processing unit,has an multiplier and an adder which execute the product and sum operation of the Galois field in one step.

Reed-Solomon decoder

The objective of the invention is to offer a Reed-Solomon decoding device in which it is possible to perform decoding calculations at high speed without greatly increasing the circuit scale. The present invention has a decoding calculation input parameter calculator 309 that generates decoding calculation input parameters including syndrome and fail data from a data string, a decoding calculator processing section 304 that performs decoding calculations using the decoding calculation input parameters based on the command codes showing the prescribed decoding calculation operation, and generates decoding calculation output parameters including error value data and error position data, a correction operation implementer 312 that performs correction operations by using the above-mentioned decoding calculation output parameters, and a register B 313 that selectively stores the decoding calculation input parameters output to the decoding calculation processing section 304, and the decoding calculation output parameters that are output to the corrections operation implementer 312.
